Stats stats stats and stats ! NC hardmode version 2

    I've been meaning to ask one of you guys about how exactly you do API pulls. I have no idea how you do it in the large sets you need for these kinds of tables, it's part of the reason I started recording WDS scores (because it's easier lol).

    More players ( TR ) bring the average down ? Which if true is kinda points with VS having the easiest starter weapons of the 3 ... But they don't gain as much by becoming more skilled with them .

    ( That if I'm reading the stats right so no guarantee :p )

    Equating weapons balance with WDS scoring is completely assinine. People need to stop doing it.

    The rest of the data is legit, and is cheapened by being presented alongside WDS. Population and player decisions overwhelmingly determine WDS scoring. With the weapons as even as they are, the biggest influence is that players' perception of weapons balance drives a small amount of empire population imbalance (and population overall has a significant influence on WDS.)

    ESF balance according to these stats:

    Default nosegun: Scythe > Mosquito = Reaver

    Rotary: Scythe > Mosquito > Reaver

    Rocket pods: Mosquito > Scythe > Reaver

    AI nosegun: Mosquito > Scythe > Reaver

    TANK balance according to these stats:

    HEAT: Prowler > Magrider > Vanguard

    AP: Prowler > Magrider > Vanguard

    HE: Prowler > Magrider > Vanguard

    I'm going to follow this. It might be interesting.
    If it will start having some better cohesion and decent discussion, I'll start pestering Higby and weapon balance team over twitter to get their attention.

    Er, is your link broken? Because when I went to take a look, it was only showing what appeared to be some VS weapon stats. I'm confused about this, am I just not looking at all of the spread sheet?

    This stat sheet shows one thing for certain that NC has either more step learning curve or that something is wrong with our starter weapons.
    If you look at stats in br 1-20 we have about 6% less kills. Faction with strongest weapons in that range are VS. In 20-50 range we still have slightly less kills but by then most players will replace their most underperforming weapon with something better. In higer its pretty much even in global scheme of things.

    In other things TR has big liberator kills advantage. Its propably related to AA, ESF balance.
    Jack hammer is better than TR chaingun but also has higer skill floor. VS weapon is overspecialised.
    TR harraser with vulcan H is about 80% better than NC Enforcer H one and 20% better than VS Saron H
    Maruder-H is 275% !!! better than Mod-H NC version and 74% better than PPA-H

    Vanu Blueshif and Nebula have about 10% higer averange KPU than any other Max AI. (propably zoe related)

    LMG
    Orion has bigest KPU potential in hands of a skilled player from starter weapons. Also they have acces to 4 LMG with averange KPU potential of 20+ (including NS weapon)
    NC has 2
    TR only has NS weapon with averange kpu potential of 20+.

    Those 'stats' only consider kills.

    The Vanguard is widely regarded as the worst anti-infantry tank, but the best anti-tank tank.

    You can't conclude 'tank balance' from those numbers, only 'farmability'.

    That's the point, the other two factions weapons are easier to use than the NC ones. Low BR players cant learn to use the weapons properly as fast as the other two factions....because NC is the only faction that has "real" recoil (..so don't expect that a BR1 player will burst instead of spray..)

    It is basically NOT POSSIBLE that the entire NC faction "just" attracts rubbish players.

    This is astronomically unlikely to happen just by chance.




    It's also the "L2P Arguement" which appears in every MMO with PvP and a factional imbalance........ there's never one shred of evidence to suggest that one faction does just attract rubbish player, but rather it is ALWAYS game balance influencing things.

    Wanted to check vehicle kph on prowler and vanguard on dasanfall, but seems bugged atm. Anyways, until that fixed, can I make a note that even the AP prowler, kills more than Mag or Van?
    But let me get those vkph stats, when they're fixed.

    No worries! Thanks goes to maradine for setting it all up. Good work on getting all the data together. I have never the time nor inclination to do so - only interested in the controversial weapons :)

    It's the infamous Oracle of Death by maradine! Head to http://www.planetside-universe.com/showthread.php?t=56656 for instructions, you'll need IRC. With the dump command it's easy to grab data quickly now.

    Obviously, the AP prowler is a beast at farming infantry. Getting off 4 shots with huge velocity, barely any drop, and instakilling anyone, in the time you can shoot once with the other tanks, does pay off.



    Try that with an AP magrider or vanguard. You'd be lucky to get half the kills.

    Sniping with Titan-150 AP isn't that hard, but I have **** aim with it. Otherwise, patience.

    NC has no versatility at all. We all know the game is not balanced, will SOE do anything about it ?

    So basically the killpage says that NC has a higher average KPU in all BR brackets, yet a lower total average KPU, while KPU unsurprisingly rises with BR.
    This concludes that NC has a higher number of low BR players (which certain players in the forums consider completely impossible) whereas the close average BR suggest that there is an uneven spread of the Battleranks

    Weapon rankings should be measured after KPU, not total kills.
    Then we get:
    NC:6 TR:9 VS:8

    Infantry only(VS +1 if you count knives)
    NC:5 TR:5 VS:6

    Unseperating MAX arms( still VS+1 if knives count)
    NC:5 VS:4 TR:4

    Other notable things:
    NC MAX AI surpasses TR MAX AI above BR 25
    TR surpasses NC Rocket launchers in the 25-75 and 75-100 brackets
    TR is behind NC in every LMG bracket but the lowest, VS is always highest

    Also even now where VS also has a much lower population still manages to keep not far behind TR stat wise. So this contradicts the population theory suggested.
