Sprint - Did it always turn off when you stop moving?

I press shift to toggle sprint. I start sprinting. I stop, sprint turns off, and I have to press shift again to continue sprinting.

Did sprint always turn off automatically when you stopped moving? I don't remember this pre Valkyrie patch. If it did, I guess I wasn't aware of it until now. (This is in regards to sprint toggle enabled in options)

Is it a bug? I hope it's not a feature...it's really annoying that it un-toggles when you stop moving. :p

You are the second person making a thread like this after the patch.
I responded to the first one by saying it was always like that.
However I did not know there was a sprint toggle on/off button in-game..
(I use hold button to sprint. Which cuts out sprinting when placing an ammo pack and stuff, but it was always crappy like that)

It was NOT always like that.

It used to be: Tap Shift, and ALL movement is Sprint until you tap sprint again to toggle off.

However, nearly every single FPS game in existence uses the "Smart toggle" system ,where crouching, aiming, shooting, or letting up on 'W' toggles sprint back off until you next want it.

NEARLY EVERY FPS GAME IN EXISTENCE.

I couldn't use PS2's broken and odd toggle sprint before and was forced to hold to sprint.

    I hated it.

    Thank GOD they fixed it.

Maybe they'll give a new "Sprint toggle LOCK" checkbox, OR keybind for those off put by this WONDERFUL QoL update.

It's different and I don't like it because it trips me up when I stop to throw ammo. I run up to friendlies, throw ammo, turn to run somewhere else and now I'm slowly shuffling and getting shot twice as much as before, thanks SOE.

This patch has really jacked up input, and much of it was reported on test. Need to double tap P to open platoon menu as well, it won't open up on single key presses for me anymore.

Yes, have the same issue after the Valkyrie update. If i stop, turn, open a window, use a terminal, change a weapon or whatever is different to running is terminating the sprint. I am using the toggle option too. This small, little new bug is pretty enervating.

I'm---confused at what you guys are talking about. I've always held shift while moving to run and let go of the key to resume walking speed.
  8. Ronin Oni

    Toggle Sprint checkbox option.

It used to require you to toggle off to stop sprinting, instead of stopping sprint toggle anytime you stop sprinting.

It now toggles off sprint mode when you stop sprinting, requiring you to tap sprint again next time you want to sprint.

This is how toggle sprint works in EVERY OTHER FPS so frankly I'd consider this a long standing bug fix.
  9. ConradHorse

something is broken in sprint as when i jump i stop sprinting and have to raise the shift key and pressit again
  10. Niamar

They tried to fix auto run getting stuck on, and this is the result. :(
  11. Vaphell

you mean every other modern pseudotactical fps? I bet there are FPS games that don't use that system and older shooters don't have that 'smartness' because i don't recall it ever being a feature in quakes or counterstrikes.
Either way i liked always run and it infuriates me when using medkit, shooting, adsing or dropping a dart switches it off.
  12. Aeravic

So glad they finally fix this mechanic for Zoom and Sprint. Was always unable to use the toggles due to how unintuitive they were. If I wanted to sprint again after doing something, I will press the sprint key again. Same for Zoom. Just like in every other modern FPS game.

Lucky you...I can't get my toon to run/sprint at all...no matter how many times I mash the Sprint hot key...just a nice slow please-shoot-me walk...and when I ADS and hit Hold Breath, it knocks me out of ADS...

    See: http://ps2issuetracker.com/browse/PS-175

Try just walking...slowly...for awhile...it's totally unplayable.
