[Suggestion] split the infiltrator into two classes

    in its current state the infiltrator can be played in two ways;
a sniper: ignoring all of your other assets and tools you sit further back and pick off pesky enemies for your teammates

infiltrator: ignore your long ranged weaponry and move in utilizing your tools and sidearm

with the addition of smgs the 2nd version becomes a little more viable, however the long raange itiration of the infiltrator becomes no more usefull.

my suggestion is to split the infiltrator into two more distinguished roles, i.e. sniper and infiltrator.

    sniper: uses long range sniper
drop the camo for these guys, as we all know in general the sniper isn't going to be moving around much. why not give them more tool.s to help the, get shots in from longer distances? things that can support from afar? im suggesting things like a tripod for the rifle that you deploy similarly to the engi turret which could do things such as allow you to **** your bolt action sniper without zooming out and reducing the time to do so, or how about a laser designator that lockon rockets must use instead of them being able to dumbfire? again, this role would be more as a long range support and as such things like the radar dart and hacking are useless to it.

infiltrator: get rid of the sniper, its useless if youre trying to sneak into a base. instead when the smgs come out allkow them to have one by default without the need to cert into one.
the infiltrator will get most of the things the current iteration of the infiltrator has, but a few changes should be made. first they need someway to hamper enemy basses, hacking is fine, but especially with terminals this has no long term effect. i syggest they be able to cert into a "virus" for their hacking tool making it take longer to rehack something per level. also infiltrators should be able to well... infiltrate. a new suit slow which would work similarly to the sunderer shield gate diffuser. this suit slot would waste all of the infiltrators energy meter when used and would allow him to pass through shield walls for 3sec allowing for some real pre strike harassment. to prevent this from being overpowered though, activating it would light the infiltrator like a light bulb, make a loud audible noise and show the infiltrator on the mini map.

so this is just a brainstorm, id love to have some feedback as well as more suggestions.

and p.s. i know this kind of thing will never happen so please dont remind me.

    Hi there

Don't agree, you can play combat medic or support medic, combat engineer or support only, why restrain more the infiltrators whose gameplay is actually pretty restrained ? It will give 2 classes with nothing else to do...

Personnally I like to snipe to clean up a base on approach, and then switch to my infiltration setup. Got lot of fun with my infil.

Sure Infils need some improvement, but just kill a chicken and pray that the devs will give him some nice things to do ;) wait and see.

Give the infiltrators a ghillie suit that doesn't show a health bar or a name, but still shows a dorito when spotted. Sacrifice cloak for concealment?

problem there is that like you said you would still need to switch loadout to be effective while moving in... since their both basically opposites of each other why make it a single class they is not proficient at either role?

i get that you want classes to be more universal, but i prefer specialization and would prefer some more role specific classes.

Why is it that people only think it is base infiltration that matters? If a sniper is in a full ghillie suit taking an hour to crawl in to take targets on a battlefield.. isn't it infiltration?

    Why?

It's just a matter of loadouts - when there are more options for the Infiltrator, then both roles will become viable.
