So this is a cool little turret however it's best placed in a farm situation like a biolab to get effective. That being said the turret doesn't register when a friendly is standing in front of its target. This thing needs to stop when a friendly enters it's crosshair. I do so enjoy getting pelted by this thing from behind because some Blueberry placed one in a spawn room. Spitfire needs a solid adjustment to lockon and a shorter lockon time.
People need to stop standing in front of turrets. Maybe if they get killed by spitfires, they will stop standing in front of my AI turret But whatever, this should be fixed.
I agree. Something should be done so people don't stand in front of turrets. Maybe a hotfix to give them a prompt saying "Hey you der, someone/something is behind you and ready to shoot. MOVE!" People get in the way of maxes and other turrets all the time. The life of a spitfire turret is a hard knock life, give it a break.
How does your turret supposed to know in advance from which direction the enemy will be pushing? I myself have placed my turret backwards at least once so get it closer to the wall of a room, rather than give it the usual gap by placing it with my own back to the wall.
but same story with default AI turret - people keep walking in front, while you shooting. the only problem with new turret - it counts toward your weapon lock, while it shouldn't. why i must be punished for thing, that i can't control?
I think it's fine to just let Darwin take care of the people who stand in front of the turrets. Just remove the grief points from Spitfires, because it really is out of the owner's control.
when somebody runs before my gun i don't stop shooting aether so why sud the turret stop if those stupid guys don't look where thy walking it's there own fold and i always love it if someone comes stand before me, if they stay there for long they get a knife in the back
You folks complaining about other gamers getting in the way do realize that latency issues are the NUMBER ONE reason some folks seem oblivious to your fire and your turret... right? That combined with the lack of peripheral vision can be a nightmare for some. Before you go off and start TKing your teammates keep this in mind. Not everyone has the gear or the connectivity to keep up and yet they'd like to play this drop-in, FTP game.
NC have a reputation for TKs yet walk around obliviously. If you get between a gun and an opponent, it's just not going to turn out well. Standing outside of shielded vehicles doors, not going to turn out well. Crossing in front of a vehicle moving at speed, not going to turn out well. Standing behind a vehicle while it's taking damage, again. Seeing how close you can fly to a friendly galaxy... And then the idiot TKs you because you must have singled him out. Presumably singled out for being stupid. So I'd argue the spitfire is a needed teaching tool.
People don't care about standing in front of friendly players, what makes you think they're going to put the effort in for turrets? As someone who generally uses slug shotguns and has people constantly get one shot by walking in front of me while firing, I couldn't care less if my auto-turret kills a friendly, just wish it didn't give me the friendly fire warnings.
The spitfire is a unique lil bugger. You can't really say "just don't stand infront of a turret" when it has a 360 arc of fire. The engineers who use this needs to be mindful where they put it, as you may very well place it in such a way it will fire through friendlies to get to the enemy. If you find yourself getting lots of TK warnings from the spitfire YOU are using it wrong. You are the one who keep placing it in a way which makes it fire through allies to get at the enemy. So on the other side of the coin, I have no qualms about destroying friendly spitfire turrets who are placed in a bad spot. Actually, let me rephrase that. Spitfire turrets who are placed on a old frontline, ie, the fight has now moved forward and it has now become a liability rather than helpful support. I haven't had to yet, but if I am trying to advance and some turret from my own team is chipping away at my health I blow it up. It is not a question of spite or "L2P n00b" it is just that the fight isn't where the turret wants it to be. I really wish there were ways for engineers to disassemble it, and be able to place it somewhere new. This would help engineers to move it on their own to a better spot... Or just make it infinite supply and only being able to place one at a time.
Disable punishment for team damage with the spitfire turret. People will learn not to stand in front of it after they've been killed a few times.
Honestly it doesn't. The team killing thing is a downside/drawback to this turret, remove it and it becomes too easy to place it and use it, and removes any chance of buffing it into a better more specialised weapon. I understand the frustration, but I think it is needed (I think mine has only TK'd 1 person in ~58 Spitfire kills and hours and hours of play - much better than my grenade average! ).
The turret should be able to shoot through friendley players. Cause a friendley player can grief the turret owner, or vice versa.
To me it mostly seems like bad placement by Engineers, probably because the thing is so new. They're constantly being set up just behind the front lines, so that when there is an enemy push, the friendlies on the front line get to contend with the enemy and the friendly turret. It's like a little mini Commissar, executing they're own ranks for the good of the Imperium. I'm not sure exactly how to fix it, but it just seems like a bad game mechanic overall. Either allow it to shoot through friendlies, or remove the penalty for Engineers. It's a little silly to blame the friendly getting shot in the back who's doing their job.
