speed up healing

I was just wondering , why is it faster to revive someone with a maxed out healing tool then to heal
Should be at least half the time
Or maybe it feels just longer

The medic tool is only one half of the medics healing toolset.

Using the medic tool and the healing aura (that green fog) together is much faster than reviving a player with a fully certed medic tool. Heck the aura alone often brings players up to full health faster than I can aim the medic tool on the right player and press the heal button.

Thank you , I never tried it together , have to try it out ,and to remember to keep the healing aura charged :)

Yep, i concur using your healing aura and healing tool at the same time will head players VERY quickly compared to using just one or the other.

I also like to switch on my healing aura after i capture a base and run into the spawn room for quick easy healing as everyone hurt or unhurt gravitate towards that location.

If heals were really quick, people would stack medics on heavies like they were maxes with engies, and tank damage like mad.

Think of what would happen with a extended mag MCG heavy with 2 medics tethered to him with buffed heal beams..
He would just mow down everyone while you try and pick off the medics, as that heavy would be basically unkillable.

    Yup yup, you've got it.

A couple of other things to think about.
    • The healing aura can be used through walls. So if you see a players health bar low and you can tell that they are close to the wall you are on the other side of, start the aura. Even if you can't reach them to aim the healing gun, you can aura their health up.
    • Revive and aura. When you do revive a player and they accept the revive, remember their shields are down for a sec. Helpful to keep an aura going when they accept to give then time to orient with their surroundings and move to safety.
    • Max Heal Tool and Adreneline pump. If you're in a big fight with lots of players, using adreneline pump in place of secondary shields you can quickly run up and revive without stopping, aim right click to revive while jogging over the body - only effectively works using a fully certed heal tool.

    True.

Just to point out though, having the ability to heal without needing to swap to your tool at all makes the OP's case that it's not particularly worthwhile even more apparent.

    Medics currently have these options:

    • Sacrifice their DPS in order to revive a player from death to 100% health, no shields.
    • Sacrifice their DPS in order to increase their healing from slow AoE, to moderate AoE + heal tool.
    • Keep their DPS and slow AoE heal.
The most efficient use of time is to do the first and third, seeing as you gain very little from the second at great cost (unless you're behind cover and have nothing to shoot).

Right now, the healing on the Medical Applicator tool is poorly balanced vs. the alternatives. If revives were a bit slower and healing a bit faster then it'd be more even. If AoE healing and the healing tool needed to have stacking removed to keep it balanced then that's perfectly doable (but I wouldn't be certain without actually testing it).
