Specialist weapons

Light Assault lack anything for the tool slot. Personally I feel like the light assault class should have some kind of "specialist" weapon set for the tool slot. These would be weapons that are specially designed for certain scenarios. The potential of light assault is fantastic but we are seriously lacking tools. Now instead of getting light assault legitimate tools why not give us a set of specialist weapons.

Specialist weapons would be weapons that only light assault can use and would fairly scenarios specific.

    Here are a few examples:
    1. Explosive Crossbow- (Yes just like Black Ops). A silent killer, the explosive crossbow is the light assaults preferred commando weapon. With an explosion radius comparable to C4 with the damage of a personnel grenade the explosive crossbow gives light assault the edge when dealing with a group of enemies. The drawbacks to such a weapon are that due to the size of the weapon the light assault can only carry 4 shots for it. Another drawback is that it cannot stick to players who have a form of shielding up. It will however latch onto floors, doors and vehicles.

    2. Explosive knife- The ultimate "Troll weapon" the explosive knife replaces your regular knife with an explosive version of it. It can pierce shields and will stick in a player upon impact. After impact you have about 3 seconds to get away before it detonates. After the detonation however you lose your knife until you are able to resupply from a terminal. The explosive radius is very small. Will kill the enemy its stuck and wound anyone within 5 meters but outside 5 meters its practically worthless.

    3. Distortion mine launcher- The weapon to use when you are in need of a quick (30 second) stealth "Burst'. THe DML fires a distortion sticky mine that will temporarily "break" the radar capabilities in a certain area. The AOE would be the size of a tower and would affect about two floors worth in regards to its vertical AOE. You cannot fire more than one within a 50 yard radius and the LA can only carry one mine at a time. Must be resupplied at a terminal.

ok, I laughed at the first two points ^^
the third just sounds OP ...

in this game you can only outbalance your weaknesses, you will never get an advantage or benefit over or from anything
the jetpack is the special tool, everytime I change class I suddenly recognize how unique vertical movement in this game is,
    use it ;)

I'd rather see dedicated grenade launcher or maybe a radiator. Radiators in this game would be delicious for LA's especially if they stuck to vehicles.

For those who don't know, a Radiator was a weapon in PS1 that launched a small grenade like object. The object stuck to walls and emitted a spherical field of radiation that went through walls and damaged infantry inside vehicles over a period of time. The field had a very long TTK against infantry but it ignored armor and shields and just attacked the health of the targets as long as they were within the field. It served as an area denial device since the fields lasted a good 30 seconds or so and went through walls so it could be spammed at towers from the outside to soften up resistance inside.

All 3 of those suggestions would be too powerful. Want more explosions? Get 2 C4 and grenade bandoleer. Option 3 sounds like a tool for infiltrators so that they can do actual infiltration better than a LA.

Just let me carry c4 and a med kit and I'd be happy.

I only play LA and Engineer (for vehicles/repairs). I'd say the LA is mostly fine, and doesn't really need an entirely new toy.

What I'd like to see, personally, is fixed Jet Pack certs. Additonally I'd like to see Jet Pack certs also increase flight speed by ~10% per cert rank, and reduce accuracy drops while flying by ~5%. The issue with flying is that, you are becomming a predictable target. Because of the momentum you gain by going into a direction, an enemy player can easily lead on your character and get a lot of hits in while stationary, while flying our targetting is completely off and mostly becomes a 'spray and pray' unless extremely close to a target.

Having C4 made a 'tool' so we can also equip med kits would be nice. Not a must have in my opinion if they simply fix Jet Packs. I'd rather have cheaper C4 bricks both in terms of cert cost (500 for the second brick is too high), and resource cost. Perhaps give LA's a discount on C4, 75 resources per brick instead of 100?

I like the idea but I think we have to leave those kind of tools in the past. The Zerg will absoluely refuse to abide by the common knowledge that they cannot swarm an area with enough numbers and anything that would prevent that would be cited as OP. SOE has to appeal to the masses. :/
