This is what I wish the Striker was, while not the most practical thing ever it is pretty fun to turn your back to a target, fire and still manage a hit. I was trying to stack up attacks, sadly the most I could get was 2 though.
The thing I find very odd about the Sparrow as it is on Test Server is that with the magazine size + fire rate, it actually feels more like a TR weapon than an NC one. You`d think our AV launcher would be a slow fire, heavy damage weapon. Instead we get rapid-fire guided rockets with a laughable reload time. I also don`t think it`s meant to have a magazine upgrade. That attachment shows up in VR, but is not an option outside of Test VR.
WHAT? Talk about OP. The best the VS get are two hand lancers. Which I'll say is BARF considering it's another thing that will just point directly back to where we are standing while only being slightly better than a normal Lancer. I see NC using this to dominate infantry while standing on flight decks. Though I will have to say that they at least have a weapon, now, to allow them to hold the Skydock. Compared to the Lancer and Striker, the Phoenix just didn't have enough range or effectiveness to allow them to hold the Skydock against a zerg (especially since they'll be getting that corner after the next rotation). But still, not cool considering it'll get good splash damage while the hand lancers will have none with no scope (not that it's easy to infantry snipe WITH a scope).
Well, time to stop going outside when the NC is around. Those things are just insane. If people complained about AV turrets, it will be nothing compared to these babies when they go live.
Yeah right now the values seem a little off, the Sparrow does 210 direct + 50 indirect, fires at 45 RPM and can have up to 9 rounds in a mag. (Plus crazy guidance) The TR's fracture does 250 direct + 50 indirect, fires at 80 RPM and can have up to 14 rounds in a mag. I imagine they both have a ways to go before they are ready for live as far as balance is concerned. At the moment its clearly paying for that guidance ability with other stats. But yeah as balance passes come I'm sure its damage will be increased (Slightly? 300ish?) at the cost of lower mag size. At 45 RPM vs the TR's 80 (and anchored 112 RPM) it actually seems in its right place as far as fire rate goes.
just finished spamming these puppies at some pilots in VR, rarely hit them but jesus from the way they were flying they certainly create some panic (might be the blue matching up with those one hit pehonix's)
i wouldnt mind seeing a charge up swarm missile system (was more what i expected from the striker honestly) unreal tournament style each rocket loads while holding fire, the lock on would be longer than the striker currently but when you release they all fire in a big CoF and zero i on the target, if not locked on they dumbfire in a big cone like a rocket shotgun. pilots would have flares actually work versus them, but would still need to decide when to pop one, otherwise they get smacked by the whole clip, pop one too early and they just wait it out while it loads more missiles for the pheonix id allow it another ammo type to give it a bit of its anti infantry punch back at the cost of its anti armor damage
You know the drill, vote with your wallet. Don't buy it if you don't like it-enough people don't like it they change it.
Wow, what a surprise. Yet another new and fun toy for the NC while the TR and VS get a modified version of something they already have. Yet another nail in the coffin as players continue to flock to the NC who have the most versatility of any faction by quite a large margin.
Haha, I would love to see a per hour chart for the Lancer sales when the ESL's went live. I bet the striker was decent (meaning some liked it, some didn't and so the pickup was gradual), the phoenix had a MASSIVE spike (meaning EVERYONE bought it immediately), and the lancer was almost zero for the first several days (meaning nobody would bother even certing it). Who wants to guess what the sales charts will look like for the handheld lancer guns? You wanna talk about a rehash? At least the TR get something that isn't a carbon copy of something they already have. All the VS get is a second lancer they can fire at the same time. There is nothing new about the weapon at all as it seems to be the exact same weapon but without a need to scope up shots. Talk about incredibly lazy development.
The TR one is frikkin awesome. Both the NC and TR new anti -tank four shot infantry. The TR shoots much faster and the velocity is of course way higher. I doubt the Dps of both is set yet. The Sparrow can equip slug ammo and extended Mag's but neither option appears in the cert menu. I don't think live will have either. Damage wise the Sparow felt like the falcon with a gimmicki guided shot. Takes two full clips of 6 shots to rear kill a lightning or any kill a harrasser. Slow to shoot but very fast reload. The TR varient takes four full clips...so 2 from each arm...to pop a sunderer. It felt way too powerful right now and is probably going to get adjusted. Try it with lockdown for the sheer lolz. Did not play with VS yet.
They could have given it to both the NC and TR. NC get a slow firing heavy hitting one (AV MANA turret like) while the TR get a faster firing lower damage one (like the current Sparrow). Oh well. Missed opportunity on their part. Now poor TR only get a boring Comet knock-off with crappier projectiles. Sucks to be you.
Extended mags are a lie on these FWIW.... they're in VR only VS one may be somewhat unoriginal (MAX lancer) but it seems like it deals out some good damage. In any case, it seems like MAXes will get some decent AV options
VS maxes get ZOE, TR maxes get lockdown, NC maxes gets a daft shield that offers no offensive capability whatsoever, the sparrow at least gives us something to be proud of.
the nc shield is the only max ability NOT getting you killed more easily fits their scheme, but the ZOE is such a laughable gimmick... clearly not worth it's upsides vs it's downsides since i last tried it the TR one is very situational at best, whilst the NC shield is a Biolab and indoors dominator (as if NC needed that)
