we will see, I know I won't put money into this until 2 magor good updates mainly resource system. If I see that and h1z1 going beta free and becoming live finally than it shows some trust being made. At the moment I'm not investing into something that I have no idea what can be real or not. I have the EA scars to prove it too.

I'm really hoping they will see SOE for what it is - extremely mismanaged and in need of a complete overhaul. Replace everyone, put new perspective into the games, put fresh people to develop a new strategy. if that means the death of PS2 - that's cool too, price has to be paid.

Name one game company that magically did better after being sold?

Yeah, I can't think of one either.

They're monitoring this thread (and many others in other SOE subforums) to gauge customer response to this news. Most of it is negative. Why wouldn't it be? You know the stuff that's been pretty stable for 15 years suddenly does a flip and no one knows what's going to happen, there isn't anything positive about that.

Parent company had a lot more resources than whoever this investment chop shop firm is. I'd give it 99 to 1 odds of chop shop vs real gamers that want to make a good difference when it comes to betting on who the new owners are. And not a lot of investment type guys play video games...

I believe this is a VERY positive move because it means a shake up regardless of the investment firm's plans. Separation from Sony will mean changes. I just hope they are drastic enough and people making decision at the firm do not buy the sweet songs from SOE management...SOE wouldn't be in the trouble it is now if it wasn't for the current team.

Investment groups typically buy up companies if they want to package them with other companies and then sell them off as one for profit. I expect that to happen with "Daybreak".

    Uhm, I have a question.
Do the devs still have restrictions on what they can say on the official forums?
I mean, can we expect more communications here, on the forums, instead of using Reddit/Twitter in hope to get fresh information or to discuss upcoming changes?

Bump. RadarX any respond on this?
  8. HadesR

    Ohhhhhhh

Since the Dev's no longer have to post under the constraints of an Official Sony forum .. But rather their own in house one ...

Guess that means they will be posting here more often :)

Well, in my experience investment companies like to rip stuff apart and sell the components.

It's ALWAYS we're in it for the long haul... blah. blah. blah....

With names like Cerberus (multi-headed guardian at the gates of Hell), Bain (bane?) capital, and now Daybreak Games (Dey break games, don't they?). If you think those names are by accident, think again. These guys know what they're doing and take a sick pride in doing it.

These companies fire employees, get the rest to do more, get a quick rise to balance sheets and sell off.

We'll see if Daybreak Games (ugh...) breaks the mold rather than the games they've purchased the rights to.

    Here's to hope.

the only thing I found odd is that this seems so nonchalant and the official statement seems like a fake generic string of text. Just going to sit back and watch what happens.

Can we possibly get a better explanation of this?
  12. Who Garou

It has the wretched, fetid stench of the Wyrm.

    WYRM SIGN!!!!!

As long as Planetside stays updated and comes out for PS4

Just few things boys & girls "we cannot kill something who is already dead" so a lot of us are speculating this, that etc etc regarding this "take over".
Now some true facts regarding this game in general, from the moment PS2 starts to make servers merges its already sign things aren't going well but that applies to any other game company soon merges start to happen, bcoz u guys know how many servers we had when the game open to public and how many we have at the present.
Players in general aren't enjoying this game anymore look at the players Population from last 2 years until to date have dropped in overall more that 60 - 70% in PS2 game if not more.
The game balance, bugs, game crap optimization, broken content and the list just goes on and on its practically since the day PS2 went live to the public "2 years ago" until now, PS2 game state its worse in general now than ever have been before. Ofc the player base declines even more, players leaving as we know and alot of players cancelling subs etc etc with all of these few things i just mention. Oh and on the top of that players do not like to buy copy & paste crappy stuff either.
So im not surprised at all SOE was not making almost any money with PS2 even the less profit for long time not just recently, its for long time now.
This news personally not sure if is good or bad but looking back to all these issues from the last 2 years until to date i personally think cannot be worse than currently is, maybe things finally start to get better/worse in some way but for that its the "waiting and see" game now and we will see whats going to happen.
Anyway im not trying to be "smart a$$" but we cannot speculate things like some of us saying this that, bad/good etc etc bcoz the reality and truth is we do not know whats is going to happen now, so we have to have some patience and wait to see as i said above.
Personally i just hope for game and players sake things finally start to move in the opposite direction from the last 2 years until now, i mean finally things start to improve in general and not breaking the game etc even more than it is.
So we will finally see this kid Creative Director Higby getting hes a$$ kicked thru the door after 2 years!!!! at least he will be still living in hes "celebrity" world and twitters social media crap etc

... Reading over some of the comments here, I've decided this means absolutly nothing to me.

I will remain a yearly donor to the cause, and will continue making purchases if I see new content (see, not just a shiny new weapon, but actual gameplay improvements and new content, not expansions I'd have to pay for) I really like. SoE has earned a certain level of my trust, and until that trust is broken, I will continue supporting them. I am weary of the new owners, but only time will tell what their plans are, lets not panic yet... yet.

This will be resold to someone. Take a big product set, keep what you want sell what you don't and call it a day.

Lets just hope nexon doesn't buy it.
  17. Spazzeh

    Or even worse... PWE
  18. Foxirus

Yes. I will do the same. I will not be pulling my subscription unless I see the game starting to head in a worse direction than what it was when Sony had it. Lets see if they can save this game or be the end of it.

After the miss management of this game & the current mess they left it in i sure as hell wont he giving this company a penny more of my money

I personally like SOE and management. With all the nerfs they've done, they have never touched one thing i cared about - ESF lockons.
