It was pretty much the result of how the books were kept, and a decision to streamline the audit process. Rather then thoroughly check the records and tally duplicates on a per character basis, they audited the entire account, converted the SC value to certs on a 2:1 ratio, and applied that value to "each" character rather then dividing it among the currently registered characters. The last part of that is what caused the excess of certs, which compounded exponentially with the number of characters an account had on it. Since conservative spenders were less inclined to buy multiple copies of everything, they landed up getting very little out of the deal. But a few impulsive players, who made tons of characters on different servers, and dropped a lot of SC initially (mostly on Camo) got so many certs, they could finish all their class/vehicle load outs on the spot, and still have enough left over to buy a few new weapons. 1 duplicate camo = 1000 certs, 1 dup weapon = 1400 certs. While it was statistically fair that they get awarded more certs overall, the thing that anger most players was the sheer amount they got on "each" character as a result of this. Had it been divided among them, or handled on a more per character basis, the numbers would had been a lot smaller, and the outrage would had been avoided.
They won't give back station cash, that's certain. You then get the questiin of how much certs is one SC worth and it all ends up in a flame war about P2W
I don't get why they can't give back SC. What's the point of having your own money when you restrict yourself in what you can do with it? Also, why are the cert and SC prices of weapons not equivalent? Both these points are absurd imo and if SOE doesn't resolve at least one of them, they can't refund fairly. But saying they can't as if it was somehow objectively given is a lie. SOE clearly can refund, they just need to pull their heads out of their *****.
how does it matter how it happened? it happened. And it was stupid. And nobody is at fault but SOE. And sadly there's no indication the'll fare better next time.
Anyone want to volunteer to carry the ark of civil obedience up to the crown to put it in it's final resting place: where within the ark are the nine commandments bestowed upon us by P4NJ to sanctify us and make us of pure and good intent: where within the ark are the nine commandments to be followed to the end of our days lest we be smote as a reed is shaken in the water and be cast out into the out of bounds area perpetually to be forever destroyed because we have built our groves and have acted with the instinct indoctrinated within us from our real unforgiving lives.
There's a reason why they didn't just give SC refunds last time. I'm not sure what it is really, but I don't believe that they will ever give SC refunds. Well, it's pretty standard everywhere to use hyperbole to emphasize a point, so I doubt you'll be escaping from it any time soon =P
pretty good post but these forums are just full of trolls and whiners now... not much we can do about that. I would love to see these forums cleaned up and actually become general discussion not constant crying
And that is ABSOLUTELY THE WORST THING EVER, and it is killing the game! Killing... The... Game. This is fun, maybe I should try it more often.
because if they were to give you back SC you could spend them on other SOE games and that's something they couldn't control, and what's the matter with Certs? they are by far more useful to unlock stuff to actually kill people with
Balance really isn't that good. Due to the need to make money, new weapons are sometimes overperforming. I'll just give a few non-faction specific examples that most can agree on, to avoid having this turned into a balance discussion. Just to be clear: by cash-grab I mean that making money was more important than game balance. - The second round of smg's was a cash-grab. - Giving smg's to infiltrators was a cash-grab. - The ESRL were a cash-grab These weapons clearly aren't sidegrades but straight upgrades. They can do things that other weapons simply can't. The fact that they are not suitable for every situation, doesn't make them balanced. If you need to restrict half your weaponry for the game to be eligible for competitive games, the balance clearly isn't that good. Sure, in other games one or two weapons are usually not allowed in competitive games. But it looks like PS2 will do the opposite: only allow a few weapons. Sure the Harasser is great fun, but it is too good. Mainly because that's the way to make sure you sell a lot of Harasser weapons. And that's unfortunate. I get that SOE is caught between a rock and a hard place here, if new releases don't offer you any advantages, it's really hard to sell a lot of them, but that's the nature of ingame purchases, and after all the initial statements that they were not going to fall for the pay2win trap, they've gotten awfully close on several occasions. They do work on balancing overperforming weapons, but some things that clearly need to happen, don't happen. 2nd round of smg's needs to be brought in line with the first ones. ESRL's need to be brought in line with other existing launchers.
TR got a ton of "OP" **** things days, from Marauders to Fractures to the incredibly annoying Striker. With the Marauder just being a 250 cert unnerfed fury with a bigger magazine and faster rpm, the Fractures being the best AI weapon because of its great velocity, big magazine and good ROF, and the striker for just being annoying as hell for pilots because you are forced to fly 500+ meters up or be locked onto every 5 seconds. Whenever a TR says they're the worst faction they really don't know what they have, with the Prowler being undoubtedly the most useful/best tank because of its high DPS to the Mosquito being the best for the average player because it's small, nimble and very fast (just like a Mosquito). Having the best carbines is just a touch really, I'd gladly trade 45 rpm for a 10 round bigger magazine.
It's a matter of how everything works together. Second round of SMGs for example are there to put a weapon in between the old SMGs and LMGs. They're making stuff to fit everyone's playstyle, just like some people will like the NS SMG or the first round of SMGs. Of course they'll make money from that. ESRLs are involved in a slow process of getting vehicles and infantry in line that encompasses the entire game. That's why the Striker is getting a nerf soon as part of the lockon revamp. I won't comment on the harasser because I've always found it perfectly fine, other than perhaps as a gimicky way to farm oblivious people. That's quite a lot of stuff you mentioned here, but of course you'll ignore the weaknesses of these weapons and the strenghts of yours. So, let's begin. -Marauder will obviously be better than an NS weapon since it's faction specific. The Enforcer and Saron are better than the Halberd, aren't they? Not at anti infantry perhaps, but I'm pretty sure that because of different resistance the Fury does quite a bit more damage against vehicles. -Fractures are part of the TR MAX, just like ZOE or Ravens or Hacksaws are on the VS and NC MAXes. When you look at the bigger picture, it ends up quite fine with the NC MAX getting the short end of the stick on longer ranges, but massive firepower up close. -Striker is getting balanced along with all lockons, with its bugs getting fixed hopefully. -Prowler isn't the best tank. Tanks are asymmetrically balanced in that the Magrider has its strafe power and maneuverability, the Vanguard has its shield and a great velocity gun and the Prowler has its DPS. Remember you have to hit both times and reaim after each shot because of recoil to get the DPS advantage though -Mosquito falls short in plenty of other aspects; I'm sure most pilots agree that ESFs are balanced right now. -It's not just a difference in 10 rounds and 45rpm. TR carbines don't have a single option over 143 damage and have some crazy recoils or other problems. Personally I prefer the Solstice over the TRAC-5. I'd gladly take better recoil, much better reload speed and more accuracy over 10 bullets and 51rpm =P
Marauder- I think the Fury and the Marauder have the same resistance, but that is irrelevant because these are AI weapons, and the Marauder is an unnerfed fury, from the start the marauder has always been the better choice vs the fury because it has a much bigger clip and higher ROF to make up for not being a one shot on impact. You can't just buff the other two ESAI weapons to the same level, because then the nerf of the fury would've been unjustified. Fractures- I'm not comparing classes in general, i'm just saying these are all OP. The ZOE is pretty OP I admit as a VS player, but it's SOE's fault for putting it in even though the people said they didn't want it and will cause problems. Back to fractures, these things are stupid good against AI, 3 shot kill, big clip, high velocity and good ROF it makes it a clear winner over the Mercy, the only reason I suspect people aren't using them is because they know it will be nerfed eventually, but it has been a couple months now and there's no sign of nerf. Striker- getting balanced against air, nothing was said about it changing against ground. https://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/current-esf-update-plans.138396/ Prowler- It depends on range, you'll get the DPS advantage in most tank battles, but the Prowler is amazing at killing infantry because of its insane DPS, especially with anchor mode. Is it the best tank vs tank combat? It depends on range, but it's clearly the best tank against infantry making it the most useful. Mosquito- My bad for putting this one on the list, the Mosquito isn't OP. Carbines- Carbines are largely suited to close quarters and having that extra 10 rounds is much better then that extra ROF and low recoil. The solstice has a really short reload time but I'm not comparing TR carbines to that. While TR don't have a long range carbine they have that acx-11 thing right? I thought it was pretty good at range. I don't believe TR have OP carbines but I'm making a point showing you guys got a lot of nice stuff and are taking it for granted.
-They don't have the same resistance, if I remember correctly it still does unnerfed damage to armor, which is about twice that of the Marauder. It's actually decent when engaging enemy armor, marauder just bounces off pretty much. Besides, it's logical that the Fury will be weaker; it is an NS weapon, its strenghts are elsewhere, mostly in the "unlocked for all characters" department. -Mercy was nerfed so that's why you see people using the Fractures for AI: it's the only weapon we have that can effectively combat enemy MAXes. It just fits well into the TR arsenal and removing its AI capabilities would probably make the TR UP in biolabs and such areas due to lacking anti MAX capabilities. People aren't using it BTW because chainguns are easier to use and infinitely more effective against infantry. -Striker was never OP against ground. -Prowler is good at killing infantry because it can kill them with splash in one reload with HEAT, or kill two guys per reload. That's just how it works, if it worked any other way it'd be UP. With bases getting less and less tank friendly though this is getting less important. Tank to tank combat is where it's at and the Prowler is lacking there, with the Vanguard being the king. Magrider is somewhat in a strange place right now, could use a velocity buff and maybe a slight damage buff. I use the lightning now mostly because I hate multi shot per reload vehicle weapons =P Halbred, Python and Dalton are my favorites =) -Carbines are worse than shotguns and SMGs for close range, so you want them to be more of a general purpose weapon with medium and medium-short range in mind. TR carbines are good for one specific thing and it's generally short to medium-short where I use my SMG, with the T5AMC being decent at long to mid (and being my favorite carbine overall) Anyway, what I'm trying to tell you is that you can look at strengths and everything will seem OP, but looking at the bigger picture and seeing why something works the way it works and how it fits together shows a different picture
- It IS logical that it's better then the 1000 cert fury, but it shouldn't be an unnerfed version of it only available to one faction, buffing the others doesn't solve the problem, does it? (the others do need a buff though, especially the enforcer modified). -Mercy and Blueshift have same DPS, the Blueshift is more accurate but loses accuracy faster. -Never claimed it was OP against ground but you said it as if it was getting balanced all around and was correcting you. -Not saying that the Prowler is OP but is the best tank by far because of it. -Carbines have always been better then SMG's, SMG's do too little damage for them to be useful. Almost all carbines are short to medium-short weapons, the only exceptions are the long range carbines which for the VS is Pulsar C, but long range carbines is kind of like close range sniper rifles, doesn't make much sense when there's weapons better fitted to the role, but nonetheless it's not like the TR long range carbine is inferior to the others because it does less damage. I made a bad claim to say everything TR have is OP, but almost all of their ES stuff is better then the others, Vanu get ZOE and best LMG's. NC get best ESF and ES tank secondary, whilst the TR get the best AV max weapon, best ESAI weapons, best (most useful) tank, best ESRL and best carbines. The OP things TR got though is the Marauder, Fractures and Striker, while the VS got ZOE and NC got uhh erm *silence*.
I will respond with fractures, vulcan and the maureder You cant respond with saron and even if you do you need 2 more
