You guys really dont get it? Do you?
Remove the 160k cert from the LB only HIDES the fact, not change it.
People still bought certs, and spend them to upg anything, that SC could not.
    Pfff

Wow. SOE taking an issue head-on and bing up front and honest and communicative about it. I wish they'd behave like this more often.

    (STILL waiting for Connery/Helios merger)
  3. Flarenza

If this is so then they are doing the wrong thing on their books. SC cash is like putting money into the wallet on Steam, you haven't truly spent the money yet so it is still a liability on their books even though the cash is in their accounts.

Perhaps annoying for self-appointed moderators, but irrational and I forgot the other complicated word, not.

    Bingo, could not agree more.
    Beyond stupid action by SOE!

Just canceled sub, and have stopped playing!

Yeah the devs shot themselves in the foot/leg/arm/co-workers with how the refund was handle. There is no point for these people who got all these crets to put anymore money in Sony's hands. Why, they got everything they ever need and want.

Higby stated back in beta or even alpha that a day one player wasn't going to be at too much of a disadvantage vs. a player who has been playing for months or years.I guess this statement is out the door.

Hopefully Sony's management removes the people who came up with this idea.

The people that were granted 100k (or even more) now have more certs to spend than ANYONE who has played the game honestly in half a year.
They got 100k *3, 300000 Certs. Average rate is 5000 XP, or 20SC per hour. These characters got 625 DAYS OF INGAME TIME for $$$.

Buzzcutpsycho looks like a newbie in comparison.

SOE, you should be ashamed. Higby, take your hat and leave. Bad job.

Now you're just reaching. Problem is the more irrational you make yourself look, the more you diminish your point. People don't remember what someone says, they just remember that the crazy guy said it. I urge you to save your energy, this isn't something that'll be resolved overnight, assuming you eventually comprehend me.

Why not just grant certs that are limited to weapon purchases only.
People are using these certs to maximize their acquisition timers and such. Creates an unfair playing field because they actually ended up buying certs indirectly. It really is pretty unfair.

Agreed, I think I need to do the same.

When you say 5% of the player base, is that all accounts, accounts active in the last 30 days etc.? I know you probably cant give the actual number of accounts.

Out of curiosity any more numbers you can give us as to how widespread or not the grant was?
    • Percentage of the payer base that has purchased SC? (also something i'm not sure you can give out)
    • Average grant amount among those who got it?
    • Percentage of players who have bought SC and were granted certs ?
Its much harder to argue against numbers than speculation.

What I was thinking, alternate SC-like currency, 'Auraxium". Late on that though. :(

Welp... I think this should clear the air and answer any of those burning questions people have had....

hopefully it will also quell the masses.....

    we'll see

The thing is though, that you HAVE truly spent the money. I'm sure if you checked your bank/wallet/purse you can confirm that. I do agree that it hurts future sales, which companies do look at that as lost income, but they do have your money. The only thing spending the SC does is allocate that money to the correct department (where-ever you spend it).
  15. StormnNorman

They couldn't give back SC because that would reflect poorly on SOE's sales report, and heaven forbid that ever happen.
  16. Dem1se

0.03% of players got more than 2k certs? I call BS on those numbers. And although I agree that only earned certs should show on the leaderboards, there should only be EARNED certs in the game. I have a good feeling you only want to remove it from the leaderboards because that's how most of us found out about it. Pretty shady SOE.

With that said, I agree with alot you in the sense that there is no reason to complain now. They have taken their stance, and that's that. P2W games aren't my thing, so I'll move on.

    P.S: 0.03%?! Yeah, right.

Honestly, I don't think breaking down the exact numbers are all that important...

though I do remember hearing that only 10% of the accounts have bought and used SC...

which would mean about half the players who used SC got some cert grant

and less than 1 (about .8% rough estimate) percent of players who got a cert grant got upwards of 2k

  19. gunfox

Considering the Bazillions of players that have left the game by now, that's half the playerbase.
-1 on that btw, never again SOE.

So their response is to hide the certs they gave out so people can't see them?
This is NOT an acceptable solution.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'll keep playing, I just won't spend any more money on the game. This is because they've shown casual disregard for their in-game product value.
I'm just glad I hadn't spent money on boosts yet
