Picked this up for my VX6-7 and have been pretty underwhelmed. Is this cert even worth it? The Mid-range damage is terrible! It seems like my max range has dropped quite a bit! I'm also not seeing a big change for CQC performance either. What do you all think of it?
Your VX6-7 is a 7 hit kill weapon as long as your opponent is within 10m, then the bullets start losing damage all the way out to 110m at which point the VX6-7 takes 10 bullets to kill. Soft points make your weapon do its maximum damage out to 15m instead of 10m. But it also makes your weapon require 11 bullets to kill at maximum range (110m). So soft points are probably better within about 40m, and they lower your muzzle velocity. I like them (for guns such as the VX), but it is a trade off to make.
Soft points also lower the damage of your weapon at close range. What a waste of certs. I wish the in-game tooltips weren't lying garbage.
Tooltip says nothing regarding close range, so they aren't lying.. they just aren't very descriptive/informative.
No. I did extensive testing today. It literally does nothing. No damage increase at any range. No velocity change. It's broken.
I'm curious to see what the tests show. However in its current form I'm doing better without it and wish there was another option for the ammo slot available for the VX6-7.
