So, to sum up...

I do not expect that they make the infiltrator stronger that's not the purpose of a revamp. But if they don't change direction this patch is going to let us worse than before.

Sorry I didn't mean to be rude. If you give a try to PS1 you will see that this class has never meant to be just a sniper, there's much more behind Infiltrators. In the past we neither used to have sniper rifles, actually! It's not a case the cloaking device we're receiving with this update is basically the same as Ps1.
The problem with this update is it lacks the biggest thing this classes needed, and it's not weapons, cloaking, nor tools: it's more targets to disable once we're behind enemy lines. Considered how poorly hacking is implemented and how limited help it can bring in a battle, the best things Infiltrators can do nowadays is killing people. And since they gave us the SMG we are also quite skilled a doing it (and honestly I was against SMGs for this class, but that's another story).

Said that Ifniltrators will still remain powerful as long as they'll have SMGs and this is something this patch will not change.

What's very disappointing is that they nerfed the Stalker so much on PTS that it's almost useless: if I have to stop and crouch every 8 seconds it will take ages to infiltrate a base! In addition the alternative ammo for crossbow seems to be insane: the explosive ammo is currently pretty powerful, and the recon arrows and unacceptable: they're giving away our best skill to everyone who pays 1000sc. We can still cloak and hack but this doesn't make it right: it's like if they gave the MANA turrets to everyone and justify by saying "Engineers can still drop ammo and repair". Unique skills must remain unique.
When I play in a team with my outfit they often ask me to switch to another class due to poor usefulness of this class in a team. All they ask me is to spam recon darts, because that's the only thing they really need from me, otherwise I better play something else. If devs do not remove recon arrows my role will be fulfilled by someone else that can just sit on an ammo box and fire darts around. I've invested almost 1800 certs for that recon device, that's just unfair.

What you're missing is ops style infantry engagements where vehicles aren't available or an option. This happens a lot. The only reason a outfit like this will take an infil is for darts :/ I agree with your other points.
  4. MarkAntony

I know. I am part of an infantry outfit.Well that and hacking vehicle terminals to spawn sundies.
And like I said. I think the recon dart crossbow should be removed or an infiltrator exclusive. It is beyond insulting to infiltrator players that our class tool is being given to everyone.

Wait, the NC rifle no longer has the shotgun mode? The only interesting thing about it taken away. Although to be fair, I have the same functionality with my commissioned, so it's no skin off my back (one shot from the commissioner followed by a quick knife is a 1HKO under normal situations.) Guess I'll be sticking with the longshot as there is no reason to use the new rifle. Lower bullet velocity. Slower rechamber time.

Anyone know of any stat changes to it? I haven't had a chance to jump on the test server recently.
  6. vanu123

It has no bullet drop and has one of the fastest bullet velocities.

Unless they changed something, no. When I last tested in the VR, it has slightly less bullet velocity than the NC's Longshot and drop about the same as the longshot. 1 shot kill range was still all the way out to render distance (300m).

My two certs as a non-sniping (Aurax'd my SR-7 and left it there. Mustarde forgive me) more stealth oriented, mid range combat Infiltrator:

I hope they don't screw up the TRAP with 6x and above optics, I want to use it in mid-close range, it has so much potential and I honestly hope they don't screw it over.

The motion sensor could be useful for Gal dropping directly on a cap point and holding it, or for Tech Plant attack, plant one next to the tunnels and go cover double doors.

Crossbows... That's a tough one. I like the fact that I can run a loadout that would give me an option to kill those burning Tanks/Sundies when they pull back to repair behind the main combat line. Do I like the fact that tracer bolts make my 1800 certs totally redundant? No. If say, they let other classes have access to vanilla Crossbows and allow Infiltrators only to have the alternate bolt attachments? I would totally go for it.

New NS Rifles and SMGs, more variation, more stat options, specialization, I don't see any problem with it, but I'm already pretty locked on my weapon options, so I won't be using them, maybe just to get the Auraxiums and call it a day.

Stalker Cloak promotes a slower, more careful playstyle. I can see some good uses for it, even with the short time. (hopefully prolonged) However, I feel I could do much more damage, faster, to an infantry squad with Hunter Stealth breathing down my neck.

They really should limit the specialized bolts to the infiltrator. So far this update feels like a kick in the nuts, and now my dart gun is going to be useless because everybody now has access to one of the infiltrators perks, enemy reconnaissance.

Let us keep the two special bolts, but other classes can still have access to the crossbow. I just want classes to have a special role, and giving out our reconnaissance ability really takes away the diversity from the game.

Low damage per bullet and a high fire rate give it an almost identical TTK with the cyclone. It's true it doesn't have quite as much capacity per mag, but you've still got an easy couple kills if you aim is half decent.

The RoF on the armistice is only slightly faster than the 2nd gen smgs the other factions have, and those smgs come with a base higher mag capacity and the availability of advanced laser sight kind of dwarf that advantage. As it stands the armistice only out-damages the blitz by 100dps and the dps difference is made up by the blitz in dpm. You also have to take into account that the cyclone, by firing slower, is slightly easier to control. All the bullets from the armistice don't mean a thing given the higher rate at which accuracy degrades. What I don't understand is why the TR (who's faction trait is supposed to be fire rate and magazine size) have neither of these traits over the other faction specific smg. You either have magazine size at the cost of fire rate or fire rate at the cost of magazine size.

The NS weapons don't interest me in the bit.

The crossbow is ok I guess but not for me.

The ES Sniper Rifles are all over the place:

The Trap was so bad they have gone back to the drawing board but I fear in the end it
will be just another mid range weapon that will really do nothing special.

The VS one is the equivalent of tapping your head and rubbing your tummy to get a shot off.

The NC one lost the useless shotgun (thank god) and due to the bullet speed has really no bullet drop.
Its the only one right now that seems to have any real use for a sniper.

They changed it. 850 m/s bullet velocity, faster than a fully charged lancer. Basically sums up to no bullet drop in average sniping ranges since sniping at 300m is not usually the case. (Not for me at least) So it's kind of safe to say that the NC ESSR is in a pretty good spot.

Thanks. I wasn't sure what to make of that guy's comment. I really haven't had time to get on the test server tp check myself.

So, the shotgun mode is gone. That's fine, they wouldn't be able to make it a 1shot kill anyways, and my commissioner knife combo has the same functionality with more ammo. Our rifle seems like it's in a good place atm. Hopefully it stays like this.
  15. Rift23

TBH I'm just gonna keep flanking zergs on my wraith flash and sniping people.
  16. MajiinBuu

The revamp is awesome, I'm looking forward to it.
If only the servers would unlock...
  17. Cromell

I'm fairly happy with the update. I've been using Infiltrator a bit more recently, mostly with SOAS-20 (very underappreciated weapon) and I'm having a blast with it. I will most likely grab a crossbow, and will use it both with standard and explosive bolts. I don't really think the sensor darts will be a problem though. Any decent Infil will provide a better detection net with their recon tool, and other classes will essentially give up their secondary for that. It may be used by some people, but long run, it won't be an issue. Same goes for the new flashlight. It has a limited range, it gives away your position at night, and it takes the slot of a much more useful foregrip and laser sight... again not many people will be willing to sacrifice that just to sometimes spot an infiltrator.

The new NS SMG is a slight, but straight upgrade over NS7. And it's name is terrible. I don't plan on purchasing it any time soon and if ever, only for the sake of having all NS guns...

Also I am very curious what will they come up with regarding new sniper rifles. If TRAP turns out to be anything like SABR-13 I will happily get it.
  18. Heyitsrobbie1984

it'll need to deal 143 damage for it to match the SMGs you mentioned
