So SOE, you went and did it anyway

I was just answering Pikachu's question as to the changes of HE in regards to upcoming buffs. Whether the change is inconsequential or not, an increase in velocity is still a buff. I will agree with you that HE still wont be competitive on either the mag or the vanguard but im sure that extra velocity will help all tanks with the upcoming gravity increases(and by all tanks i mean only the vanguard and prowler of course, they mag HE gets reduced velocity cause nanites).

You make an assumption by saying huge number of voiced concerns. Even if every person here thought it a bad idea it would still represent quite a small percentage of the total player base. Plus they're own internal stats might not agree with those who are against these changes. Just saying. I doubt the devs are doing this on a whim without any data suggesting that it's a good idea.

I see planetside 2 changing from good arcade shooter, to bad arcade shooter for handless kids
  4. RemusVentanus

Yea that is why the liberator got buffed and that very same change is now getting revertet again... some great internal stats they have there. The more they mess around with tanks/vehicles the more it is obvious they know jack sh.t about vehicle gameplay.

All tanks are receiving a velocity nerf to their shells, though. The Magrider is indeed hit hardest of the three but considering that the tanks it is fighting are slow and cumbersome (NC) and become rooted in place as a special ability (TR), the nerf isn't that bad.

The nerf to projectile velocity will also make it harder for other tanks to hit the Magrider (than it already is), increasing its effective HP.

The exact thing is also happening for the Prowler and Vanguard though, so there's no gain.

In fact, there's even a huge loss here.
The Magrider strafes at around 20 km/h depending on the terrain, while the Vanguard and Prowler will be able to strafe at speeds way higher (and since acceleration on the Vanguard is getting buffed, it will also be practically possible to reverse/forward strafe) than the Magrider.

What is the hardest thing to hit, something that's moving at ~60 km/h or at ~20 km/h?

Except that the Vanguard with this patch is both faster stock AND with Racer chassi (previously we were equal with Racer chassi) and Prowler don't have to anchor up (same way the Mag Burner has zero battle value).

Not at all. This game is about asymmetric balance. The Magrider right now has the only stabilised turret on MBTs and as a result to balance it suffers from slow projectiles and massive drop in addition to having the fixed turret. Massive drop on a faction that has no drop, makes sense.

I don't want a buff because TR and NC get turret stabilisation and same top reverse speed as when going forwards; what I am saying is the Magrider needs some form of balancing to counter these and make it more of a level playing field vs enemy MBT, as well as allowing it to survive in the area that SOE wants MBTs to be, which is front line.

Right now the Magrider cannot get close because it gets obliterated unless lucky, or has numbers. We cannot rotate our turrets, we cannot therefore retreat at full speed without showing our weak end, and thus cannot retreat and give retreating fire from our main guns. Giving an omni directional Magburn would allay this concern and provide some form of balance to the fight, but so would improving strafe speed in general.

How you can say more strafing is OP? When it is all said and done in an MBT vs MBT fight, if you cannot hit the Magrider when it is strafing then you are simply not very good - and there will be even less excuse when the turret stabilisation is brought in.

As my stats, which you are free to check out, show I am not a Magrider farmer. My primary loadout is the FPC (check Das Anfall or some other site which shows vehicle weapon stats), which if you have any experience with you should know cannot be used for farming to any great extent. So if you are suggesting for one minute that my concerns are based purely on some unsubstantiated nonsense that I will no longer be able to farm, you are very much mistaken. My concerns are based on spending an ungodly amount of hours in a Magrider (considering I have work / family and social commitments outside of this game) blowing up enemies, getting blown up by enemies and generally understanding MBT balance from being involved since December 2012. I'd like to think during that time I've experienced enough to predict how these changes will pan out. I'm not the only one who can see this; MBT drivers who primarily main as tankers and are vastly more experienced than I could ever hope to be see it too.

If you don't see it that way, then that is fine. You are perfectly entitled to your viewpoint. That is the root of good, constructive discussion, which is often lacking on these forums.

    Yeah, I know.

But the other tanks are getting big velocity buffs, I I personally feel that the Magrider didn't suck quite as hard as others here claim so... well see. I suspect it will turn out okay.

Won't stop me from asking for buffs though... it will just dictate the tone of my arguments!
  10. Kerplunk

Why buff the Maggy? It's the slowest, least armor, least DPS tank in the game. I don't see the logic.

It is logical to assume that if one can come up with such ridiculous changes then he is ridiculous enough to implement them.

The most sad part is that none explained the real reasons behind changes.
I bet that it is hard to aim and use tank at 300m in battle using console controller also it is just cheaper to just shaft the PC players instead of balancing each platform differently.

So it would be really beneficial if you leave the faction preferences a bit and notice that PC players woild be always shafted from now on and that the game would be balanced to suit the console platform on your expense.

The totalled magrider is relative small concern something like the canister marauder harasses duster and more-some useless junk that is on game , none cares and all continue to use other stuff.
However the big picture is a lot grimmer for all PC players- prepare for more ridiculous changes- the game would be dumpeddown to console levels.

Does being popular make something right?

You're right about the second part...to an extent. Emotion blinds intellect.

Such as when the Lib was buffed and populations dropped across all servers and are doing so as we speak?

People won't be sticking around to complain. They will just move on.

The tank buster and lib resistances should of been nerfed. Skyguard damage should be increased against libs (not ESF's) Instead Higby listened to the lobby of Lib hover farmers and all of a sudden we are getting nerfs to the range of AP cannons. Something no one ever complained about but was one of the only ways a lib gets killed because it takes them by surprise with it's burst damage.

I'm sorry but this looks like Higby was listening to the "Libs should never die crowd". Why else would AP round range get more gravity added to it and lower velocity so no lib will ever have to worry about a lucky AP round taking it out ever again? Why else would Tank Buster and Lib resistances stay the same?

I'm taking my money elsewhere as of this update.

    its disappointing and disgusting.

on the top of the AP & HEAT nerfs.

    they are buffing HE.

not only litterally, but also making tankers be forced to run it.

meaning more infantry will leave the game and never come back because of HE tank rounds(they have been degrading this game since the game was in beta).

this will be bad for the game.

I find it upsetting how the tank users feedback wasn't listened to and yet..... the liberator lobby was.
  15. Sekone

hahaha that's exactly what i picture in my head when i think of the magrider.
