I went from AMD Phenom II X4 3.2ghz to an Intel i5 3.2ghz and the game is finally playable, I get over 30 fps in most situations. I'm running Radeon 5850, so a pretty average card.
Unsurprising since individual core performance is a major factor and the i5 is clearly superior in that regard. Good to know that another player can run it effectively.
I'm curious which exact CPU is that? I'm running on a i5-650 @ 3.2Ghz, and I only get around 19-25 FPS in big battles.
What sadden me is that people now think that "most of the time i have 30 fps" is acceptable. You aren't able to run this game if you're stuck with 30 fps most of the time.
Actually, an i5-650 is a desktop chip. Mobile ones are the i5-5xxM series if I recall correctly. It is however a dual-core and not the newest design so that explains the lower frame rate.
Oh yea my bad I had a brain fart after looking it up it is a dekstop processor but it's a lower grade version 2 core, less cache, etc..
I'm happy if I get 30 FPS in big battle , anyway, planning to build my own PC in a month so I just need to bear with the frames until then
You shouldn't have needed to upgrade, your CPU was more than powerful enough to run this game twice over. Its just this game cant make use of enough power to do what it wants to do.
lol i Oc'd a Q6600 to 3.1 ghz and am getting similar performance . same video card . not really average card at all. its actuall better in many ways than the hd6800 series... http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=614&card2=636
moral of the story ... stop spending money on upgrades for PS2 .. i oc'd my Q6600 and am getting same performance .
I was definitely not able to run it before ...and I'm not stuck at the 30, I'm just saying it rarely dips below 30. My performance also improved in BF3 and Rising Storm, now it never drops below 30.
i have a phenom II x4 955 3.2ghz and i get better than 30 fps in most situations, think its also how your system is setup and how windows is configured that can make a difference. i only tend to drop bellow 30 fps in very large battles. should be less of a problem soon with SOE having a dedicated team working to multi-threading the game engine properly with their dreams of a ps4 version which processor is less powerful than mine.
quick nice question . Is the amd bad at cpu . amd and intel have different way of cpu data process . i thought cpu do same job . only brand quality etc, change .
