So I heard the TR wanted an audio pass... I'll give you an audio pass

I'm not an expert on experimental weapons but I believe that I recognise the sound of a sonic boom and that sounded a lot like what I heard. Maybe a jet of plasma leaving a barrel makes a sound, do you have a sound clip of that without the sonic boom?

Here's a different clip. Note 0:20 seconds in. Massive plasma cloud at muzzle. That's what you're hearing.

having played bc2, i think those are lovely sounds. but i must say even the bc2 sounds are way over the top. i know dice recorded these sounds off real weapons at a firing range but even they admitted that they were a bit too 'hollywood'. i actually prefer the sounds from bf3 as these are fairly accurate as to what real guns sound on the battlefield. bf3 sounds also have a crisper and cleaner quality compared to bc2 whereas the latter had that extreme reverb effect especially when playing with wartapes on.

NEVERTHELESS, this does NOT mean i would not like such great sounds implemented in ps2. anything that replaces these awful sounds we have in the game right now would please me. the vanu sound overhaul was a good start, now the SoE sound department has to take a look at all other factions' gun sounds. please, for the sake of immersion and atmosphere!

Too realistic, the chaingun is just obnoxious noise....ya its authentic but obnoxious.
  5. PS2Freak

I also think that TR sounds needs more Meat and Bass, as well as NC sounds are meh.. (i switched to tr because i liked their sounds more then our , ncs one)
  6. LordCreepy

I'd wish we had lmg sounding similar to this :
  7. Puppy

I watched the start and yeah, it seemed like the same sound played on each gun. But, if they do it right improving sounds could be nice. I'd rather the current sound issues be fixed first though.
  8. ExarRazor

    TR sound pass:

replace all current gun firing sounds with the word 'dakka'

    viola instant overpoweredness
    • Up x 4

For some reason I felt like doing a audio pass myself.
Hmm. Give me a few hours and I'll post back here with the results.

sounds are very important to making a game feel right, as I said over on PSU you got my full support.
    • Up x 1

SWEET JESUS WHY ARENT THESE SOUNDS INGAME YET
    [IMG]

Tar sounds like its going to explode :D
    • Up x 2

Sounds to me like someone just wants another BF clone and can't adapt or fathom the fact that another company does it's game differently.
  13. Canaris

speaking of the MG series weapon, here's another great sample

  14. Erilis

A little too much reverb for my tastes. I like it there but it should be more subtle I think. I think that's what's making them sound so similar.
  15. iRhuel

The sound fx don't match the fire rates on the guns. It's very jarring.

Ah, you found some stock footage of the early auraxians. If you look closely you can see (left to right) an early vs, tr, and nc, along with their halfbreed offspring. This was during the freakish summer of love in the dark ages of auraxis.

It's no secret that all auraxians use space magic, it makes all their weapons, powers all their suits, reconstructs their soldiers and makes far out clothing and superdrugs.

I want this as TR gun sounds:
    • Up x 3

I tried to listen on my phone and you're right they do indeed practically sound the same. Try it with headphones or desktop speakers.

I picked and matched each weapon according to their rates of fire, so the sound wouldn't have been in sync had I switched them.

I actually used the BF3 minigun, though now I realise I should have probably used the BC2 version as it isn't as obnoxious.

The reverb could probably get toned down, but I'm mainly asking for a bigger CRACK than we currently have, also asking to pay attention to small details like casings hitting the ground that are sorely missed.

Oh no, I'm not that tech savvy. I just recorded the sounds and overlaid them on top of the footage :p

I never intended for them to use these sounds... I already mentioned several times these are just concepts to nudge SOE into the right direction.

The new VS sounds show us that SOE are very capable of quality audio. The Lynx should have never passed through. They might not have the same tech, but it doesn't mean they can never upgrade their audio engine... And they can, it's very apparent when you compare the sound quality from early tech test to now.

Liked the changes for the carbines. As of right now they sound beyond goofy.

#Re-posted for... reasons  (I have a pottymouth)

Gun powder is loud, I don't get what MMS or youth have to do with any of this. You can't possibly tell me that the Lynx audio is good

I used BC2 as an example because DICE made sure that every weapon in that game was unique in its audio. A lot of weapons in BF3 sound the same to me and miss that "punch" that BC2 audio has. It's all subjective

However, BF4 goes a step above BC2 and BF3, so when the beta comes around I might do this again if there's no response from SOE by that time

I matched all of the weapons with the same fire rates, but after rendering the video about 6 times over and over after finding out I overlaid it .5 seconds too early/late I just gave up.

If only we had something that matched the fire rate :p now there's an idea for a TR specific LMG, if only the engine didn't limit 1000 ROF
