Playing devil's advocate for a moment, is this all that unrealistic? Technology moves forward, right? Yes, I understand and can sympathize with people who just bought the other launchers (I was considering doing the same earlier this week), but there are always going to be different technologies being implemented. I'm happy to see that the PS2 devs aren't just leaving us with the same weapons set ad infinitum like in PS1.

    My two cents worth,

I may be in the minority, but I am fine with this addition. My Hawk was only nerfed slightly (instead of removing dumb-fire like they announced), and I have an option for a more versatile lock-on-only launcher if I want it.

neat tweak ... makes it SOOOOOoooooo much of a upgrade

Damn this thing is rubbish.... won't let me fire

Previous 2 models..... (pre update ****-up)

I fired when not "locked on" and missed .... it's rubbish

I am fine with it as well.

    Types of Rockets
    Fast/Accurate Dumbfire
    Slow Higher Dmg Dumbfire
Slow inaccurate Dumbfire + Ground Lock
Slow inaccurate Dumbfire + Air Lock
    Ground Lock + Airlock

Seems all reasonable weapons to me. I just wish they would fix the G2A so it actually is useful. I have no problem with the weapon types they created though. As soon as they take out the dumbfire for the first two lock weapons though I will have a huge problem. (hopefully they wised up and wont.)

If they doubled the price (SC) and Certs required.... would it make you happier?

It doesn't make your old launcher obsolete. See the many posts from the last round of launcher-related changes. There's a lot of good commentary about why a pure lock on launcher, whether it's ground, air, or both, is not necessarily desireable over one that can lock one target type but still be dumb fired.
  11. Kaoschan

As long as the new lock-on only launcher has a longer lock-on time than the current lock-on-dumbfire hybrid weapons than everything is ok.
  12. Masterjts

Your old rocket is not obsolete. It can lock (one type) and also dumbfire. I use the dumbfire more than the lockon with my hawk. Honestly I have no use for a "only" lockon rocket as you cant use it in a pinch.

What a 2000 cert weapon or 1400 SC.

    Err No.
  14. Osmadius

I fired at a stationary liberator yesterday, from a range of about 40 meters, while standing still, no flares, no dodging, no scenery in the way. It took 4 locked on rockets from the Hawk to register a hit. It is broken and useless and should be fixed before they even think about adding another launcher.

I'm pretty sure that there is a con to it. In exchange for being able to lock-on Air & Vehicles, I'm sure the damage per shot is lower. Just like the Deciminator vs Default Launcher. Each shot has more damage but you get less ammo. But in essence the default launcher does more damage overall with all 5 vs the 4 for the Deciminator. I'm sure there will be a trade off like this.

W.T.F, I read this and thought it was a joke until I saw the patch notes, how the F can you justify selling people a launcher for air or ground at $7 each to then just go and release a launcher that locks onto both? all you've gone and done now is piss off all the players that spent $14 getting the launchers to just go and add one that does both.
  17. Phaze

You don't have to buy it! You can use certs, or just ignore it completely.

welcome to the world of capitalism.....enjoy your stay.

yea....use certs....that should only take the average non paying player about 150 hours of gameplay.
  19. Nonesuch

I understand peoples frustration at this but for the sake of balance I feel that this is a really good step. Now, you'll be able to actually fight against air without gimping yourself against ground and being useless.

So far, that's been the biggest problem with AA. It's just not fun to use because it only works against one target and you're unlikely to get any worthwhile points, and you're basically a free kill for anything else.

At least you won't feel "robbed"
