So after 9 days of 2xp and 3x SC sale...

For real though, it's hard to find actual fights in the game because the continent populations are often something ridiculous like 70/15/15 or 60/30/10. The options are fight against people camping spawns or camp people's spawns. I know I essentially log in once a day to get the daily certs and hope that one day they make defending fun.

After 9 days of double experience you will still have plenty to unlock.

You might not like the things you get to unlock, but they'll be there.
  3. Cronoc

OP, are you seriously concerned that there is so little to unlock in PS2 that 13 days of double xp will be enough? We've had normal xp for 30 days now (not even counting the 3 days of double xp already) and I don't see anyone complaining that they unlocked everything. I've played this game 34+ hours and have only made 1000 certs. Each class and vehicle in the game generally has a cert line costing at least 700 certs total (and up to 1600+) to give that class options (C4, tank mines, proximity mines, flares, scout radar, flak armor, IRNV on weapons, etc). You've got to be kidding.

This games meant for fun guys :p Like the guy above said the progression is a side bonus, the fun for me is playing with friends!

I'm here to enjoy lazer fire zipping past my head as I sprint over a hill in front of hundreds of enemies.

I'm here for that feeling I get when then enemy air support stops attacking in fear of my buster max.

I'm here to headshot double figures of bad guys before I'm even spotted.

I'm here to defend a small outpost against overwhelming numbers with my squad.

I could go on... I'm not here for the xp or certs, they just help me do all the above.

There needs to be a goal to keep people motivated. Currently certs and xp are the only thing close to being a goal.

There needs to be purpose to capturing that super heavily defended based and keeping it under your control. Right now, bases are simple a means to more certs.
  7. Adeodatus

Theres a nice post in the gameplay forums talking about giving regards for defending key points. We should all agree in that and hope the devs see it.

Sitting around in the most popular hang out spot, bored because there is nothing to do?

Lately, on my TR, I've been finding myself less and less interested in my cert counts as I get the basics down on my classes and it's a good feeling. I've picked out the type of weaponry I generally prefer, and the attachments I care to have for that weaponry, then I'll max out their abilities/tools for 100% combat effectiveness. After that I'll probably just splurge into vehicles. If we had recert capability, I'd pull the 700 some odd certs I spent in weapons I no longer care to use.

Now I just get frustrated over finding a fight, or getting into one and not essentially running into a barrel every life. Seems to be becoming a problem of late.

Then again, I have 160% exp from boosts, play for only an hour or two a day, and make maybe 30-40 certs an hour. Can't say I was too cert farming minded to begin with. This was happening even during the last x2 exp event! However, if this event is enough to get a lot of our quitters to stick around after the week is over, then it's a colossal success as far as I'm concerned. We need more bodies in game. I'd even let SOE give everyone the guns I've paid cash for for free if it meant maintaining higher pop counts through out the day.

When I saw the splash screen for this I thought it was a really bad idea.

2 days was bad enough, but nearly 2 weeks?

It makes the ranks pretty much worthless to me as there is no real sense of achievement in having made any of them.

I know there are XP boosts anyway and pilots get a rank every time they press fire, but that isn't the way I want to play the game.

It is bad enough getting the very generous normal repair points and knowing you can get points for repairing your own damaged vehicle forever, but doubling them?

I don't understand why they don't just x2 certs and leave XP alone. Are people so sad that a marketing strategy to half the effort to get to a certain rank makes your average player think they are 1337 simply by being a higher rank due to x2 XP?

All that is going to happen is that it is going to speed up the time when you are hellfired or gunship HEploded or sniped with an onboard aircraft turret by a level 100 (is that the highest?) pilot.

That will now be in the next 10 days.

    Irony never stops being delicious.
  12. HerpTheDerp

Of all the things to play for, you played for the rank?

I think the extended 2x XP is a very good idea, because:
    - it is a way for SOE to compensate for some of their BS, like Reaver Flares cert cost or the G2A launchers
    - it will mean more AA on the field, since almost all of it needs to be unlocked and costs 1000 certs, which will help with air balance
  13. maxkeiser

Don't care about certs. I have 800+ that I've not used. I can't be bothered. I'm having so much fun just playing massive battles and engaging in squad team work etc.

It's like the glory days of BF1942.
  14. dondaffno

Come on guys, flaming others for finding cert gain and unlocks important is a bit hypocritical, isn't it? Nobody said that it is the most important thing in the game.

And just because we have a few days of double xp, doesn't mean that everybody will be rank 100 on new years eve. And isn't xp gain and battlerank unimportant anyway? ;)
  15. iller

    Basically this....
Sittin at around 5days played & 1705 certs. What's that avg out to? *grabs a calc* ...okay less than 20 b/c I don't farm

Less than 2000 certs doesn't unlock ****. Meanwhile I play with ppl who have 5x more crud unlocked but less time played.
They payed to bypass the grind. Good for them but it wouldn't mean they should expect to spin around and complain that an SOE game is 'running out of content' for them. It's SOE so by definition, that grind IS THE CONTENT. Been this way for more than a decade now. Don't understand why anyone would expect it to suddenly be any different just b/c there's a couple FPS 'elements' involved. (haha J/K, TeamFortress & Quake were FPS's,. this is a COD point&click adventure)
  16. MasterCheef

You have a point. doubling the XP instead of certs makes BR pretty much pointless- not that it had much of a use before anyway. BR was sort of a loose way to judge how long someone was playing, bu ti fthey're just going to randomly dbl XP, then its accuracy is even more skewed.

eh, BR still doesnt mean much anyway- not really a big issue.
  17. Otleaz

Most of us are used to games that are actually fun, so when we play games like this we have to rely on gimmicks like cert grinding to enjoy ourselves.
  18. Exaar

You shouldn't be farming for anything, play because the damn game is good. Farm kills, not for unlocks, but for the glory of your chosen faction!
  19. Exaar

Its extremely sad to me that you will play a game you don't find fun just to grind. Why don't you go find a game you actually enjoy? Not that it's any skin off my back, I just don't really understand the point. Grinding isn't fun. Grinding is horrible. So if you don't enjoy the gameplay, why stay just to grind? There are literally thousands of other games out there. There must be a few whose gameplay you'd actually like, beyond some artificial progression curve.
  20. Jourmand1r

Until there is an actual metagame present in the game, Cert grinding is the metagame.

If all I wanted was to get kills, I could go play Battlefield 3. At this point, there are bigger more frequent battles in BF3 than in this game.

Its getting to the point where even when I go to red zones on the map, there are like 15 people there fighting.
