Sniper destroy the game

We need damage drop off to end at 500 for bolt action sniper rifles.

Why would you want more zoom? 4x is all you need because render ranges are extremely short in this game, the farthest infantry I have seen render on my screen was a distance of around 650-700 yards. Terribly short. Tracers and bullet impacts also disappear too quickly/don't show up/aren't visible, they need to follow the whole flight path and end at impact.

Since bullet velocities are extremely low, you get massive drop, so high magnification scopes will only suffer there.

I'm not saying they shouldn't add higher zoom scopes, I'm just saying the opposite would be better.

Allow 1x 2x 3.4x 4x scopes on all the snipers, including the archer(especially the archer now that I think about it; I can't believe 4x is the lowest it can have. It's CRAZY I KNOW!....).

Hip fire COF is already massive.

1: For those extreme distances, having a higher zoom means better focus on the target(s). At 500 Meters with a 4x Zoom, you're more likely to lose track of your target before they eventually find you and start counter-sniping.
Besides that, 200 Meters (which is more or less the ideal distance to have a OHKO Headshot with the long-range BASRs) is still a sizeable distance for Sniping. As stated before, at this distance, you're practically aiming at a moving Peanut.

2: Archer's Hipfire isn't all that bad for its intended role, Actually, being a MAX Killer. Sometimes, being brave and poking a MAX at 25meters with the Archer is enough to either kill him or send him running, but either removes him from the fight. If it's really that bad, slap a Laser Sight onto the Archer.
I will agree on lower optics for the Archer and Archer only, but that's about it.

This 9 second video will show you that 200 meters is nothing.

Edit* hmm link not working maybe try https://player.vimeo.com/external/1...08966bda215d7fe8e40dc279a731e2&profile_id=119

I also hate to break it to you, but at 500 meters, there is no counter sniping.....because you can't counter snipe.....regardless of skill.....because the OHK range is terribly short.

And it's not aiming at a moving peanut. It's aiming at a moving pixel.

For one of the Long Range BASRs (the ones that do 650m/s) it would take a little under half a second (0.307) for the round to reach 200 meters. Not counting the Railjack, since it's more of a special case.

Also, I admit I was a bit wrong: The OHKO Range for the Long Range BASRs is 271 Meters. That gives you about 0.469 second of Bullet Travel Time, though.

With these times, however, you could still miss greatly, and the Long-Ranged BASRs aren't known for their rapid fire reliability.
Having a Higher Zoom simply makes the target clearer to shoot at, so you can better judge the lead and drop distance. I'm not saying take a 12x if you're gonna be 200 meters, but a 4x would be lackluster.

'Counter Sniping' usually means 'Firing in the direction of the Sniper,' as in putting pressure on them and makign them unable to fire with any stability, usually with other long-ranged weaponry. The Battle Rifles are good candidates for this, but it doesn't have to be Sniper Rifles entirely. A Rocket Launcher can work if you get the drop right, so can a long range Assault Rifle. Hell, even the NS7 can counter snipe

Same difference: It's a small target.

EDIT: For Good Measure, the Railjack's Travel Time to 200 Meters at 850m/s is 0.435 seconds including the 0.2 seconds it takes to 'charge'. At it's maximum OHKO distance of 335, it's 0.594 seconds.

Mind you, all of this math is against a standard 1000 Health target. Meaning No Infiltrators or Auxiliary shield.

A continuation from my previous post, because I lack the ability to edit it further, Some Images:

These First 2 is ADS with a 4x Optic on a VS MAX And NC Infiltrator at 200 Meters:

The Following 2 are the same targets, same distance, but with a 6x Scope

Lastly, for good measure, here's the same MAX and an Engineer because someone killed that Infiltrator, with a 12x Scope.

Blatantly, a 4x Optic is generally not advised at this distance. Workable, sure, but a more practical option is usually available.

Would you like the same scopes in a different faction flavor, or at the 500 meter mark?
