Since TTK won't be raised just give us Shotgun Armor like Flak Armor. I would be willing to pay SC.

As I said on the sister thread, the problem here is biolabs. In every other situation the hit-and-run LA can be engaged "outside its element" so to speak, and easily killed. Biolabs are a meatgrinder where everyone is next to each other in extreme CQC, so it's really frustrating going against shotguns, Scattermaxes, and even grenade and rocket spammers.

Biolabs are popular because they are infantry-only fights, but they're in fact horribly designed.
  2. AdennTM

The problem is, shotgun users, that people don't know if you are using a shotgun or not because all guns in the game look the same. How are we going to change tactics, if we didn't even know you were using a shotgun until you 1HK us?
  3. Pengalor

You are acting like you should only play based on what you see. If you're in a biolab then (and this is gonna sound crazy, I know) assume there's a shotgun user around and play accordingly! Just assume there's going to be one somewhere and keep your sightlines long, your sense sharp, and your trigger finger ready. Seriously, it's not hard to fight shotguns in biolabs, I do it with the axc-11 all the time.
  4. AdennTM

What gives you the idea that I'm only referring to bio labs, genius?
  5. Pengalor

Ooooh, someone got all defensive. Well, honestly, if you're having trouble with shotguns outside of towers and biolabs then it's your play in general that needs work tbh.
  6. CaligoIllioneus

Shotgun users can sometimes be recognized by their playstyle, but to be honest this is really hard to see in a big battle, and I often recognize them because I hear them fire against other people.

Guns being so similar is definitely an issue.

Or maybe, just maybe, shottys are op?
  8. AdennTM

Now this is a smart forumsider
  9. Pengalor

But...they're not. If you're outside of 7 meters you should have no problem with them, unless they're using slugs in which case you need to move around a bit and get yourself into a more advantageous position.
  10. AdennTM

Now in all seriousness the problem isn't as much shotguns as base layouts and simply skilled players can easily farm with it anywhere if they have at least half a brain.

All points are either in the inside of a small building with far too many entrances for 1 or 2 guys to cover or in the open where it gets vehicle spammed. This is largely why scat maxes are considered op.

As for the skill part, get your preferred class and simply flank the enemies intelligently (doesn't matter if you're in the open of an esamir field or in a bio lab) and watch as the certs roll in. It's surprising the amount of idiots there are in this game.

However the last problem is that if that one guy runs into a 1v1 with a HA then he will surely come out on top which tends to be rage inducing and makes people cry nerf.

My fix? Release a ****** common pool NS shotgun and then you'll see people (mostly) shut up. Except for the few who will start crying p2w.
  11. Pengalor

Not really sure why a common pool shotty would fix things since the current pump-actions are basically exactly the same (besides VS bullet drop). I think people just need to expect to die in this game and learn that you need to stick with a team and you need to work together. One thing I almost never hear is people calling things out over proximity chat, I bet if people got used to that shotgunners would find themselves in a really rough spot.
  12. Poacher

"Forgive me father for I have sinned. I use a shotgun"

"That is no sin my child. Does not the enemy have the same opportunity?"

    "Yes"

"Did not the English think it honorable to line up thousands of low born people to receive the brunt of musket volleys while nobility stood back and watched? Did not the English think it unfair the Yankees were plinking noble high born officers from afar? The problem in the enemies mind is when you don't play by their rules. The sin is not using your potential, or shotgun, to win"
  13. AdennTM

If you read my siggy you know that I'm a platoon leader. Don't say I need to use more teamwork, specially with the amount of times I've died by taking risks to kill the enemy sunderers while shotty wielders preffered staying indoors and farm.
  14. WalrusJones

You mean, call "There is a shot-gunner" while you are a corpse? That is rather poor sportsmanship.
  15. Littleman

Not really, since they have a habit of often wearing a jetpack and bouncing around like super balls between each pump, and mind you, the spread on a shotgun is much tighter than what one might get with a carbine while mid-air. Further compounding the problem are hit registration issues. SOE claims to have fixed the hitbox desync bug, but their lowering the visible jump height as seen in the third person tells me it was a band-aid fix meant to keep the hitbox in closer relation to the model, not that the hitbox actually accurately follows the model. This isn't even considering the initial drop in, insta-kill and fly away Batman inspired BS. Infils might as well have shotguns.

Remove the shotgun from the LA's arsenal, and I guarantee you the well of tears will nearly dry up.

Sportsmanship never really had a place in competitive play. The line should only ever be drawn where it starts to really become harassment or just plain mean spirited.
  16. VexTheRaven

So what you're saying is, shotguns are just an iWin button.

The "stay out of range" argument is definitely invalidated when you're playing a game based on capture points with a range of only a few feet.

Flak armor being protection against "room clearing" elements designed for imprecisely focused damage makes sense. Know the person has flak? Switch to your sidearm.
  18. pnkdth

Hmmm, it is almost like designing a weapon which completely dominates one area of combat is a stupid idea. Shame SOE decided to ignore every single piece of feedback given during beta. I do not think SOE do what they do because of malicious intent but if they're not they're doing it because of incompetence. Not sure which one I prefer.
  19. hostilechild

Actually its more like they are doing it for the pay day. Need money? Oh lets introduce a new FOTM weapon that is OP, we can always nerf it after sales drop. :p

I enjoy killing with a shotgun mixed with light assault capabilities.
    I vote no change.
