[Suggestion] Show support for a change to the VS pistol

The planned VS pistol is going to be a charge-up pistol. This is a horrible idea. The point of a pistol is "out of ammo, he has 5 health left, I'm gonna shoot him really quick". A charge-up completely defeats this. Nobody wants a gun where they run out of ammo on their primary, wait five seconds, and then die.

It would even still be useless for stalker infis because you have to uncloak to charge anything.

My proposal is to make it an inverse charge- It starts at full charge and when you fire, depletes and starts regenerating. You can fire it faster with a less full charge and deal fairly low damage, or wait longer and get a higher charge, dealing more damage. This would be a much more balanced pistol, while keeping the charge up that Higby loves.

It will still be able to semi-auto panic fire

If its going to be like the Phaseshift or the Lancer, then i do not see any problem.

Lancer and Phaseshift can choose to fire uncharged shots depending on how long they hold down the trigger. Damage varies according to charge.

By the time you fully charge you will be dead. It will literally be useless in upfront engagements. Or as a panic secondary where 95% of pistols are used. I'm sick of Vanu getting the short end of the stick on pistols.
  5. LIKE A BOSS!

It's still useless It will hit like a wet noodle. I might as well be using the already crappy beamer.

But you do not need to fully charge it. (if they make it like the Lancer)

Fully charging it is your own choice.

It will all depend on the damage values.
If its going to be like

    First charge:- 143
    Second:- 300
    Third:- 650

Takes about 2 seconds to go from 1st to 3rd, then it would seem like a fine weapon option for me.
RoF can be identical to the Beamer.

Although they can buff the MV, like 550 maybe?
Beamer only has 325 MV just for comparison.

Scrap the Charge pistol idea it is terribly bad no vanu want's a ****** charge up pistol. We want a burst fire pistol like the rest of the factions. Add a 143 damage burst fire pistol with a fire rate lower than the repeaters but higher than the desperado (since its 167 damage) and bam easy and done. The rest of the factions have one why not the Vanu?
  8. LIKE A BOSS!

Whats the point of charging it than? Where in any occasions would you be using a charge pistol? Would you use it over a repeater, desperado, or hell a beamer? It will be like a pistol phaseshift which is already crappy.

I suggested that they give it exceptionally higher MV. Something like 550 m/s.
Most pistols do not even have 400 MV, so that will be a decent buff.

Another thing this pistol should get is no damage drop, or very low damage drop off.
It would make it the best pistol to use at range, while the worst in CQC.

So in short if you are looking at a fully charge shot it would be something like:-
Doing 650 damage, very little damage drop off, with amazing velocity.

If its going to be UP, then we can buff it, if its going to be OP then we can nerf it.

On the other thought, this pistol does look exactly like a railjack pistol.
If you think that its going to be UP, then I would appreciate it if the Devs gave such a pistol to NC.

If the charge pistol allows you to use semi-auto fire, then it'll be okay.

However, I think the idea of a burst-pistol or an ammo-less pistol that overheats after sustained fire (like the Phaseshift) could appeal more.

    Just my 2 cents.
  11. Paperlamp

I vote infinite ammo pistol for hilarious pistol kill streaks
  12. Ronin Oni

    Inverse charge would be fine...

    or at least, better.

heavy first shot then weaker rapid fire shots, without needing to charge it up before firing the first shot
  13. iller

I think the real question is going to be: ....if it kills in one shot to the Head box after a full charge.
If it doesn't ....then it's a complete downgrade to Xbow/Commish regardless of "no bullet drop".
If it does OHK, then it's just a *slight* downgrade depending on actual charge time and longer range accuracy/ironSight style.

The OP's right to be concerned, but just making it functionally a Commish/Xbow clone isn't going to help VS "identity" ...and yes, front-loading the damage is exactly what the Commish/Xbow do.... That's like whining the Lancer is also useless because it doesn't do what the Decimator does. WHO CARES? Can the decimator hit moving ESF's with relative ease? No? then why start another clone wars topic just to keep moving the TTK goalpost up? (It's already bad enough the TR are getting a straight upgrade to the Repeater)
  14. minhalexus

If they give infinite ammo on a pistol, its gonna be the best stalker infil pistol ever.
  15. iller

    confirmed Desperado user...
  16. Epic High Five

An infinite ammo sidearm that can OHK with no drop and good velocity would be the most brokenly OP sidearm in the game by a huge margin.
  17. vincent-

For infiltrators now let's be honest there are going to be a dozen guys near you and they will shoot anything that is off. Unless you hand with a bunch of screw ups, crap like wouldn't happen twice you either learn and adapt or your the npc that thinks it's human.

It's a sidearm, which is not infil only. Every single VS infantry having a OHK BASR as a sidearm is a profoundly bad idea

pre-charging, by its nature it would need to do more damage for a charged shot than commissioner. It would likely work like the hunter crossbow with a faster and drop-less projectile, a very high damage with a low headshot multiplier, hit them with the precharge to the face and finish them with a quick no charge, or hit them in the gut and finish with two or three quick no charge shots. However if you are suprised (and thus didnt get a chance to precharge) or are pulling it out as a response to needing to reload the primary it will be inferior to the beamer. It has its niche in those powerfull charged shots like the crossbow. Though while the crossbow can do them without worrying about charging, but the charge pistol still has panic fire to fall back on.

conceptually at least thats how it would work, and its not a bad concept. I would still prefer a disco (lasher) pistol though
