Server Specific Forums

Listen, I know we're all carebears on these forums and no one says anything mean ever.

But we need to be able to yell at each other in a server specific setting. Rivalries and ******** are perhaps the greatest motivating factor for playing a faction based game.

And let's be honest, us Mattherson people need to be able to be 1337 and toxic where it won't infect the casuals who all get trophies and ice cream after the alerts.

Been asking for this since release. Not sure why its never been implemented.
  3. Ash87

There are server specific Sub-reddits, and server specific forums on Planetside Universe.
  4. Izriul

Yup, but it's been asked for since forever :\

Seriously, there's so many self proclaimed "best" outfits out there who bang on the public forum expecting the other servers to care get's boring. It really needs it so they can go stroke their E-peens there, together.
  5. Sock

    And they are barren.
  6. Duvenel

Pretty sure I remember a quote from someone from SOE saying that this was exactly why there wouldn't be server specific forums.
  7. Mr_Giggles

Would be nice to shuffle all these population imbalance threads off to their specific sub section so we don't have to see like 5 postings of the same issue pop up day after day.
  8. IamDH

The forums are supposed to be related to the game in general and about how we can improve it

It isn't supposed to be a place for outfit rivalry and toxicity
  9. Ash87

And that suggests what, for server specific forums that would be put on this site?
  10. Flapatax

    Yes.

You're right. Let me start another nanoweave and striker thread.

Dude it's cool, I'm sure Stew has you covered.

If that's true, why does the off topic forum exist?

Server specific forums foster communities, something that is seriously lacking in this game.
  13. IamDH

Yeah because those are things that annoy people.
Its for things that are off-topic (for the people who just want a discussion)
The game play forums are for things related to game play (for the people who want to improve the game)
Having a subforum for outfit rivalries/toxicity is against the forum rules in so many ways
  14. Mr_Giggles

Damn, I was just thinking of that comment and was going to ask this very same question.

    Wait, I've got one.

If server specific forums only induce toxicity, then isn't it just going to be more of the same of what we see now?
  15. TheRighteous

    Please do this .

Also, while you're at it SOE, add a 'keep me logged in button' for gods sake.
Im tired of having to constantly log in to the forums ._.

And while you're busy improving the forums, WHY DON' T YOU STOP USING SECOND PARTY WEBSITES AND USE YOUR OWN ONES GODDAMIT.

Im sick of developers contacting players on reddit instead of using the ones they specifically made for this game ffs.
  16. Duvenel

I agree with you on this and yet I don't, there may not be sense of community that everyone can feel part of, by being a PS2 player. But I've certainly seen some smaller scale communities setting up shop and organising things together, which I think will one day lead to a more united and dedicated playerbase, I mean for a niche game and add in all of the issues, technical and otherwise that people have experienced PS2 still has an active core amount of people playing each day/week.

Which maybe says something about the community that PS2 has helped to create.

I post on the forums everyday and I check up on here multiple times a day, so I recognise a lot of peoples and their names and that connection carries on over sometimes when I'm playing IG and I see them or fight against them.

But I'd be only be interested in seeing server specific forums for the reasons I've listed above, not to spark arguments or trolling or flame wars.
  17. Phrygen

I used to want this but currently i do not. Players may be less likely not to clutter general discussion with complaint threads about population, and players may be more likely to plan events, but those are the only positive outcomes.

Its much more likely that server specific sub-forums will be a haven for flaming that will inevitably require heavy moderation and make the SOE-MODs life harder.

The off topic forum exists for off topic posts, and its the most friendly and tame of all the sub-forums.
  18. jak

I personally don't think it's bad to have a place where you can have some less moderated banter. PS1 did just fine with it and we built some epic rivalries simply through forum warrior'ing.
  19. Flapatax

Just let the specifics be the wild wild west. Anything goes.

Tired of hearing about TR overpop on a server I don't care about and how the TR is the devs' favorite, when my server (the one that matters) is the obvious corollary.
  20. Delnar_Ersike

I hate to nitpick, but... if a faction is "the devs' favorite" (assuming they have a general favorite), it would reflect that in the faction-specific weapons and vehicles, therefore it would be universal among all servers. As for <insert faction here> overpop, creating server-specific subforums would only encourage more people to complain about overpopulation on their server, so while you might no longer see one thread about Briggs' overpopulation, you'll instead see 20 threads about Mattherson overpopulation in your subforum.

In short, server specific forums don't exist because there's no reason for them to exist. As for your wild wild west thought on said subforums, we both know how that would end, especially with PS2 being F2P, unlike PS1 was.

You're just sick and tired of the same threads that keep popping up, and which you have no interest in. Therefore, you want to push those threads somewhere where you'll never need to glance over them.

I think you're missing the point. No matter how annoying and seemingly pointless they are, there's a reason all these "xyz faction on abc server" threads exist, and it's not just because people want to whine about losing against larger forces.
