Serpent VE92 De-pooped? WHEN?!?!

Many people chose the VX6-7 over the Serpent due to the monstrous reload speed of the Serpent which WAS over 3 seconds even for the short reload. Now, it is comparable to the VX6-7 and at 250 certs it actually gives the VX6-7 a run for it's money. The only advantages the VX6-7 has are the slightly smaller CoF and slightly faster reload speed. So isn't the Serpent finally a more compelling option to everyone now or am I wrong if so, WHY?

Didn't realise that the Serpent's reload had been buffed. It spits out a fair bit more DPS than the VX6-7, but I chose the latter because of it's superb hip firing/sphincter like COF and it's spot on controllability. It just feels right.

Having said that the Serpent has a lower bullet velocity, but at the ranges it's fired at that shouldn't be a problem. They also have the same attachment options... mmm good question you posted there rahulr1

Thing is VX6-7 is easier to control and it has "normal" recoil pattern as it pulls up and right like almost all other guns. Serpent pulls up and left and it seems to have pretty high first shot recoil so it kicks quite annoyingly if you burst fire the thing.

Sure the reload speed is now decent and its a cheap weapon, but still I would take the VX6-7 instead.

I'm looking at fitting my LA just for those times that I want to clear a roof. That RPM of the Serpent is damned tempting for CQC. That's the RPM of an SMG...

I love the Serpent, mostly because it does feel a bit weird to use. The reload will definitely get you killed a lot if you're not careful. Don't take on multiple people with this weapon, you can realistically kill two in one magazine if your aim and recoil control is good, but you'll struggle with taking one guy out if they're further away. You want to attack and quickly disappear behind cover to reload. It also has the slowest bullet velocity of the VS carbines which makes hitting strafe-spamming infiltrators really difficult, especially if you use soft point ammo and a suppressor like I do (hard mode) Try to always sneak up on people. Hitting targets standing still or running at/away from you at close-medium range is pretty easy if you get a handle of the recoil. Just a smooth pull. Once you learn to lead your shots well, you can pull off some sweet kills on people running perpendicular to you. That feels amazing. It feels like I'm fighting against this weapon sometimes, but it's also given me some pretty crazy kill streaks.

I find the Thanatos or Sirius much better for clearing a room honestly. Serpent is a hit and run weapon.

The serpent is a cqb specialist weapon... A specialty that is already dominated by msgs and shotguns. It has a very narrow engagement range where it would be considered the "right" weapon choice, which is why I (and many others I suspect) prefer the VX-67, which is more versatile while retaining competitive cqb potential.

The serpent occupies an odd place in the VS carbine arsenal, since it's hip fire cof basically necessitates an advanced laser sight for that playstyle, while the .5 ads mspd, horizontal recoil, and projectile velocity all make it difficult to use in medium range engagements. It's difficult to control but rewarding of careful positioning and situational awareness, more so than other carbines due to its low ttk.

If Iam not mistaken all VS smg's have 800 RPM which is the same on VX6-7. However its the DPS that matters on CQC and thats where even the VX6-7 beats all SMG's, even the TR smg which has the highest RPM.

Yes Serpent has even better DPS than VX6-7 but higher and weird recoil + still slowish reload + 30 round magazine is far from ideal weapon. You are more likely to run your clip dry before the target is dead.
  9. OddChelsea

That is incorrect. Eridani is 750 RPM and the Sirius is 845.

Ah my bad then. Anyways my point is still valid, VX6-7 has better DPS dispite having slower RPM.

I have so many hours with serpent that VX6-7 feels awkward to me and I'm sure that serpent have smaller first shot recoil then VX6-7.
I have 7,767 kills with serpent and I'm still not tired from using this carbine

Sure you get used to it if thats the only weapon you use. But if you like switching between other classes and therefore other weapons the thing is pretty much all other weapons have similiar recoil as the VX6-7. So having one weapon which handles differently might feel awkward.

Iam not sure about the first shot recoil, but when I tested the Serpent and fired small bursts it feel to jump around more than VX. But I have to do more testing between those two.

    VX6-7:
    1) 0.5 seconds in close combat is important (about reload).
    2) Lesser CoF.
    3) Lesser fire rate is not a minus. VX6-7 better at 50 meter distance.

    VX6-7 is my choice.

Serpent for CQC, and Pulsar C for Mid-Range.

VX6-7 is an all-around weapon, but I feel like it sacrifices too much to be one.

Plus, it's just too mainstream. :p
