[Suggestion] Segregate the Players

    I am a big fan of player Segregation. It provides for a more rewarding play experience for each player, as they are not being forced to play with people who want a different game experience than them. That said, it's kinda difficult to put a finger on what criteria should be used to base the Segregation on in PS2.

    You suggest to Segregate players by Infantry vs. Combined Arms play. Is this the most common basis for players wanting a different play experience? It doesn't address segregating players by Skill Level (which is the most common form of segregation in most games), or the Hardcore Organized vs. Casual Player difference, or the Pop Balance preference by some.

    There are other issues with your suggested setup of Infantry-only + Spawn Rooms at bases:
    1) if all players can Span at each adjacent base, and no players have anything approaching non-glacially slow travel speed, then what's the point of all the terrain between bases? Why not make it a bunch of instances at that point? And will it heavily reduce the use of Range Infantry?
    2) do you keep in place the lockout from flipping a Base Cap if your adjacent Base Cap is flipped? This create a very frantic race in rushing to get to an opponent's Base Cap after you have secured your own, but the Opponent can Spawn right there. What about a "Capture the Flag" approach, where both bases can be Capped at will.
    3) how do players get from Base to Base? Is it all just spamming re-deploy hop or will Redeploy be re-worked? Beacons? Current broken Instant Action?
    4) will there be any effort to balance the Classes? Or will we see Max and HA spammed?

    Ultimately I think your idea has merit because Infantry vs. Infantry can be very fun, and DBG has been terrible since launch in terms of balancing Infantry vs. Vehicles (and just about everything else).

    Planetside 2 is just too big as a game to be balanced easily. Secondly, some poor decisions also screwed up a lot of stuff

    Personally

    I'd like to see a slot for the sunderer that allows it when deployed to also create engineer style shields around it. These are quite high but there are still gaps through which people can shoot through. This would help sundy farming and protect the sundy but also make it a lot more visible

    I'd like to see a lot of hills and mountains removed from Hossin or leveled out a bit. Also make the trees easier to climb for light assaults.

    I'd like Esamir to have plenty of small rocks on those giant open spaces and about half of the walls removed from the bases along with extra cover INSIDE the base

    Indar has a revamp so we'll see how it pans out


    I'd like to see a very cheap smg unlockable early on, say 325 certs
    I don't want to see it be very good but I feel like it should be an option for newer players.

    I'd like to see redeploy only take you a maximum distance, not to the other side of the continent

    I'd like to see places where vehicles rule and mass vehicle fights can occur

    Do I see any of this happening

    There doesn't need to be segregation. PS2 should be more like PS1 where vehicle battles happened between and around bases. Inside bases were infantry only areas.

    For people who like infantry combat they would fight in the bases. For those that like vehicle combat they could join the attacks/defense outside bases.
