I don't think you understand how sales and market capture works.

Say that if they reduced the price by 75% in a sale (which they do already) at 250SC per item then 1,000 people will buy it. So they would make $250,000 in sales.

But the problem is that some of those people would have bought the item at the full price anyways. Let's say that 100 people would have bought the item at full price (1,000SC per). So they would make $100,000 in sales off of those 100 people. The remaining 900 people still only buy the item when it is on a 75% sale so SOE makes $225,000 from them. Thus if SOE uses a combination of full and sale prices, their sales jump to $325,000, or a 30% increase versus them just reducing prices across the board.

Essentially you want everyone to pay as much as they're willing to pay. Since people will be willing to pay different amounts, it makes the most sense to charge them different prices. Some people will be willing to buy a helmet for 1,000SC the very day it comes out. Other people will wait until that same helmet is 250SC or even 99SC. The current sales system allows for the accommodation of different buyers, and reducing prices across the board does not.

Can we please get an update on this? I called my local Gamestop and they hadn't heard of this. Not entirely surprising though; the guy said that it should ring up the cheaper price if it was a promo like it sounds. But some of the posters from last week said they already tried this and it rang up normal price at Gamestop. Is this in effect yet?

I will be the first person in the thread to be positive and thank you SOE for bringing us this great deal, I shall be buying probably several of these cards lol

EDIT: Ahh I have read alot of the posts and it appears the sale is not yet active.

I appear to be the 1st person to actually be able to take advantage of this offer. Just bought 2 [1500 SC] cards at $10 each. When I asked them if they knew about the promotion they said no, but when they rang them up, they came up as $10.

    Hey folks,

There was an error in the announcement for this promotion. The sale with GameStop ended on Sunday, October 26, 2014. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you were able to take advantage of the promotion while it was available.

    Thanks,
    Dexella
