Yeah the first game had that infantry vehicle and air label but this game has removed that for a damage over damage reduction model. With vehicles having more damage points and heavier ones having better damage reduction.
AI MAX users average 3.5x the anti-infantry KD/h and 2x the overall Score/h when compared to AV MAXes. Players who bring AV to an infantry fight are hurting their team. Raw DPS stats are fun and all but, when taken in the context of the rest of the game, don't always lead to where we would think. The reality is, still, that AI MAXes are still way more reliable against infantry. I'm just happy that MAXes got a crutch AV that lets them be more than a free kill.
Marketing ploy, and a fantastic one at that. Cash grab ftmfw. Release new weapons (designed to be better than the previous cache). Make them so ridiculously effective that everyone buys them. Then tone them down after a few months after everyone has spent their station cash. Rinse, repeat. Nothing new here. And I don't blame them. Gotta make money somehow.
I have also dual Vortex and I'm loving them more and more. They are excellent against ground vehicles and other maxes even from a long distance, decent against planes, and horrible against infantry at close range. They are really situational though, you will need to swap to your AI weapons quite often. Also quite difficult to get actual kiils with them, people will abandon their vehicles before killshots. I have around 120 kills with them though.
I have no problem with the vortex in principle. I just can't bring myself to use it because, when I heard Maxes were getting rocket launchers, I thought I was going to actually shoot rockets. Biggest letdown ever. Edit: First 22 seconds sums it up
