Will be quietly rescinding my financial support on account of the most recent in a string of arbitrary changes over the past few months. As a night-time ESF pilot with multiple lock-ons from G2A, its almost gamebreaking how long I'd have to scrape the landscape visually to deduce where they're coming from, esp if they have cover. Asymmetric advantage to infantry, who will doubtlessly reap a bountiful air harvest on acct of not being seen/located. Maxes are OP! Ok enter Archer, Auraxiumed C4 tossing LA, vehicle mining engineers (are Maxes vehicles!?) and dumb rocket firing HA. Felt at parity as you could no longer rush a room and expect to last more than a few seconds at best. Arbitrary removal of Max Sprint, hilarity ensues as I can now get chased down and killed quite easily by any of the above due to the mobility penalty of the Max suit. The only aspect of the game that I felt should seriously get a balancing was/is Liberators: ESFs have to dodge Dalton Spamming belly gunners that can easily shift to rear gun for 30+ seconds to have any chance of killing them (a few elite pilots can but most of us can either a)run or b)die) Infantry are almost insta-farmed unless theres pretty major AA around, they can survive multiple lock-on hits and still scurry away to land/repair, wash, rinse, repeat. Besides the skyguard, ive watched some Libs specialty-diet on ground vehicles on tank-busting runs ad-nauseum.Again they can absorb enough hits to almost always come out on top. Guessing that the Lib is allowed to continue unmolested as they are not plentiful, but I dont see a clear counter for them in their current iteration, and they are far too maneuverable (c'mon, rolls upside down onto its back with a pirouette and stays prone sans stalling?) for what should essentially be a ground pounding aerial-artillery platform not dissimilar to a shaved down AC-130. Will stick around because like anyone taking the time to come to the forums I love this game and have invested many hundreds of hours playing. Reverting to F2P would take the sting out of some of these changes, cant really complain when a product is free.
It's practically impossible to do A2G at night now. Players complained for years about Vanu being difficult to spot at night as infantry... now imagine trying to do it from a height of 70-100M while moving by overhead. It just isn't feasible, especially without an absurdly high-end monitor/graphics setup.
I just quit and uninstalled over the vehicle thermal changes. It's a bridge too far for me to tolerate. Happy hunting everyone.
a) Read the forums, the general sentiment is "why are they answering a question that no one asked by fundamentally unbalancing A2G". b) 'Quietly' because if you have happened over to Reddit where the devs actively monitor/reply there are threads with hundreds of comments and a veritable ****storm that im not partaking in. That and folks are also raising Cain on Connery's YELL to draw attention to this 'patch'; people are pissed but its more righteous indignation than crybabies that want their pacifier back. A bunch of folks like myself feel no need to malign the devs directly or indirectly, but are voting with our wallets. Apologies if the misuse of 'quietly' perturbs you, assuming you also took umbrage at the 'Threat Detection Optics' misnomer as it doesnt detect the MAJOR threat of AA Maxes or AA infantry.
One day and 450+ comments, many several paragraphs long of cogent, well thought out arguments vis-a-vis this patch: https://www.reddit.com/r/Planetside/comments/5nu908/thermals_and_more/
I suspect no one asked because the kill screen doesn't tell you that the thing that got you was using thermals.
I stopped paying for a couple reasons, but OP Libs wasn't one of them. Those things get wrecked by any decent ESF, and dealing significant damage in a 96v96 requires all the stars aligning and the perfect caffine/alcohol:blood ratio. The Dalton as the premier (only viable) A2A weapon needs to switch roles with the useless tailgun, but besides that, I can't agree with your anti-Lib propaganda. But yeah, this game isn't worth spending money on, I can't even muster the motivation to log on and claim my monthly Daybreak cash from my subscription I'm letting expire.
am i the only one who thinks this was a necessary nerf, thermals where OP for air and ground vehicles finally somebody @ DB had the balls to nerf the farmers and of course there is a lot of resistance from those farmers who lost there farm tool they will cry on all PS2 forums, threaten to leave and end there subscription but once everything settles new players will fill in there roles one thing i don't agree with is the no refund policy, i paid for thermals, now they are not thermals so i want my certs back i have no problem spotting them with night vision, it's not so easy as before but it does the job and it has a 1000 meter range
Can you not just make a video for us and show how OP the Lib is? With a lot of enemy ESF Dalton killing at longer distance please. And please fly in bigger battles, like 48-96 or better 96+. The Lib is totally OP, so there shouldn't be a problem, right? I wait for the video and then let's see.
Lib OP? LOLOLOLOLOLOL Stop being mindless footzerg rambo heros. It takes two heavies with AA launchers 2 reloads to destroy the lib, 1 reload to send him packing well before he gets into the range where you can be seen (with or without optics). You are at a serious advantage, if you are too stupid to do something about it before he hovers over you and you are still too stupid to run for cover... you deserve that death. Nevermind a single AA turret can outright kill the lib and if it doesn't, your friends in another fight 1000m away but still in visible range of the lib while the lib can't see them will surely finish them off for you. Please pull head out of ***.
Of all the things in this modded ww2 game ESF honestly are the things that dont fit in, helicopers brimming with guns werent a thing back then, helicopters brimming with guns and having the ability to show all targets before them with ease absolutely definitely werent a thing back then or the war would have been over before it even started. this is most of the reason ESF are so cancerous in this game. night vision was a thing right at the end of the war only just and that be that. so use night vision and be happy that literally almost everyone else has to use pre 1950's tech.
I fly a liberator with my brother occasionally, it's actually extraordinarily more difficult than it looks, he has yet to master the belly gun anti ESF skill which is interesting because he's so good at that in a tank. Our biggest cert farm is a MBT with me as the turret gunner, neither of us using Thermal so the Thermal nerf doesn't make any sense. With the Thermal nerf there's no point in playing Liberators, ESFs or Valks for the sole reason that you can't identify dangerous infantry targets. I will also no longer renew my sub and won't spend any more money on this game due to the thermal and hornet nerfs.
Sir, respectfully, you and I both know that feel when you hear the droning noise of a Lib engine whether youre in the air or on the ground. I dont know if its on purpose, but theres something about the noise which defies echo-location, you know its near and getting closer, you pray that its a friendly or if its not someone has spotted them so they show up on minmap. Thats a great fantasy you allude to where a lib shows up and your boys/gals are waiting their with AA glistening in the sun, but more times than not the Libs can go on some fairly heinous farming runs. This took NO effort to find Boey, and ticks all of your boxes (music gets pretty bad towards the end):
Are you literally r3tarded? "Modded WWII game?" "Pre-1950's tech?" So let me get this straight, WWII tech included: Laser rifles? Stealth + Cloaking modules? Skywall Shields? Jump Pads? AMS+Spawn Beacons? Teleporters? Kinetic Overshields? Forcefields+Generator powered Barriers? Grenades that could revive people? MAX Suits? JETPACKS?! (The Rocketeer doesn't count) Ok. Miracles do happen We actually found someone who's posts are even dumber and less constructive than Demigan's.
Sorry my rage suppressor overheated while typing, kind of like the now worthless AA base turrets. Read the thread, theres a hell of a lot more hate flying around over this than me saying "hey folks, you will hemorrhage members over this move".
well you successfully listed most of the things that break the game in some way or another based on the general way the game is played, because like ESF they are future tech in a game that does not play like a future war and if you think this game represents future war you must have downsyndrome. Laser rifles? there are no laser rifles, its just bullets painted with a purple colour instead of a gold one. if they were lasers theyd be hitscan, there are no hitscan weapons in this game so there are no lazers, poor start there buddy. Stealth? you mean having the ability to have your detection range be as it would be given the setting? unless every person in the game is a seer, since for some reason without being spotted or anything you just show up on peoples map for... well for no reason actually.. Cloaking? its called a ghillie suit with or a camo net with a futuristic skin Jump pads are elevators with a futuristic skin on it, the ones that go diagonal are for conveniance and game flow only. AMS+Spawn beacons? what about them, these have no impact on it being a ww2 game and are there for game flow, if not a sunderer itd be a deployable medical truck with some sandbags or some ****, and spawn beacons? they are just a futuristic smoke flare, and instead of coming from space youd just get dropped out of a plane and parachute down. FUTURE SKIN. Teleporters actually are futuristic but are for convenience only and nothing else. Kinetic overshields? future skinned body armour that actually works. Forcefields? you mean sandbags and tanktraps with a futuristic skin? Grenade that revive people are not really futuristic as they are there just for convenience of game play. MAX Suits? pretty sure there have always been guys in full suits of metal armour since WW1, not really common but it was a thing, they just attatched guns to it now instead of holding them, and they gave it a nice futuristic paint job. Jetpacks are another ACTUAL future tech without an alegory to 20th century war which is why they are broken when combined with certain tactics, otherwise its just a gimmic because only in the C4 delivery aspect are these really any better than any other unit. thanks for trying though bud.
Yeah it' :'s almost as bad as an ESF with max stealth just swooping in and 1 clipping an mbt with hornets. These ESF brats are delicious.
