[Suggestion] Restrict C4 Access to LA's & Engineers.

Yet when I see most c4 spam is always a Light Assault flying over clusters of infantry. The times I use it vs infantry is when there is a max and/or very very large cluster of infantry stacked by a door I can drop it down on. Which is extremely rare, for other heavies I seem them prefering to chug medkits.

All I'm suggesting is that the classes C4 works well with(LA due to flight, Engineer due to the suit slot that allows you to carry more) should be the only ones with C4.

Not all examples are perfect, not all fights have perfect scenarios or situations that play out, however there is only so much you can do in a tank, you can't be aware of all your surroundings and if you are not aware of one single infantry unit, you can lose.

My point is tanks should not be so bloody vulnerable to everything. Air is frequently complained about because you can't do much to it without an anti air setup. Heavies have to collectively shoot rockets to kill them or you pull an anti air vehicle. That's how it should work with infantry to vehicle interaction, once you get your anti air unit, it becomes a valuable asset to the rest of the players in the area.
You pull an anti tank air vehicle or tank, players who know what it prevents will want to help keep it alive.

Medic and light assault in regards to air are practically useless and vulnerable to it, but that's why you have friendlies covering you, because it's a team game, there should be hard counters in the infantry aspect along with the vehicle aspect.

Yeah there must be another Planetside 2 that I haven't played.

Yeah... As is most aspect of this game, not sure why pulling a tank should somehow warrant that to be lesser.

Tanks aren't "vulnerable" to everything. They can eat 6-8 rockets, even more AP grenades, several MANA turret shots and the list goes on. Two things can kill it in one fell swoop (nevermind it takes a bit of time to set it up), and both are within knifing range.
As for the whole air thing, that is a completely different aspect of the game, and they are actually somewhat vulnerable to standard infantry fire, and can't just be sitting on their ***. If a tank did nothing but circle a base and taking shots at infantry or drive back and forth continuously, they wouldn't die to C4. So the comparison is somewhat poor.

Oh I agree, the hard counter to vehicles is C4 and the hopes that the pilot is brain dead. As is the reverse, vehicles are all hard counters to infantry that can't take cover. What delicious balance! :D

The only, ONLY, class I don't want to see C-4 on is infiltrator and if I have to tell you why, then just go away without saying a word please.

C-4 has a range of NOTHING which mean someone has to be on you or above you to kill you with it. I'm sorry sorry your big ol' tank can be taken out by one lone soldier with a brick but getting there as one lone soldier with a brick is much harder than driving around in a mobile fortress. Real world tanks have suffered many casualties from explosives, including in WWII when infantry had no other choice other than sneaking up on them and using whatever they could to take them out.

Real world armor units solve the problem by going into battle WITH infantry. A tank without boots on the ground is always a bad idea. Welcome to the realism of PS2. No one is going to make your toy invulnerable for you. If it's a question of balance, well the balance follows as this:

All the same classes on each faction can use C-4. Everyone has the same chance to take a tank out of action on each faction. Turns out, it's equal. Problem solved, move onto something else.

Meh, the amount of C4 attacks from Medics and even Heavies is neglegible. The only times they use C4 is against MAX's or infantry groups since they are the only reliable things you could C4 as Heavy or Medic, or the once-in-a-blue-moon truly oblivious driver who doesn't even see a walking infantry approach. But the Medic doesn't have a good alternative unless you want to bring superfluous medkits and unless you are using them for ADAD dances I've never seen the use for medkits on Heavies. Pay that much nanites to survive one fight? I would rather bring some C4 for those occassions where I'll really be able to do damage instead of a potential of surviving one fight.

    C4 is AV.

Medics are not supposed to be a AV class.
  11. Demigan

    Why not?
In that case we could also argue that they aren't supposed to be an AI class and should only heal and revive, it would immediately dumb down the game and make the use of Medics boring beyond measure.

We aren't looking at pure class roles here, we are looking at "what can make a class fun and engaging", preferably for both the one using the Medic as well as the one fighting him. If that means giving the Medic access to a giant space-based laser canon, then why not?
The problem is ofcourse that we barely have anything to choose from. It's either C4 or something you basically don't need.

Just watch it start happening more solely because you said you haven't seen it.
