    From the wiki:
    TR:
"...Meanwhile, the autocratic Terran Republic—now resembling the transparent democracy of Earth in name only—failed to rescind the curfews they had claimed would be only temporary..."
i.e. The TR was once a just government (on Earth) but is now a brutal totalitarian regime with no intentions of restoring democracy.
    NC:
"...The ideals of free enterprise and open markets espoused by the former executives of Earth and their hired guns and workers changed over generations into a general desire for freedom from the iron rule of the Terran Republic."
i.e. The NC is NOT driven by economic motives. The original group bearing the name NC was a corporate conglomerate. But the NC of the present is instead composed of freedom fighters who want to end the TR's oppression.
    VS:
"...With their options few and their allies fewer, they declared their independence as the Vanu Sovereignty and took up arms..."
i.e. The Vanu saw their opportunity and declared war on the other two factions.

    I would say:
NC = Good guys, fighting for freedom, except that they aren't nice to Vanu (but then again the Vanu are the ones who declared war on NC).
Vanu = Neutral but not innocent; declared war on the other two factions.
TR = Pretty much all-around evil.

Well when I first saw the trailer and decided to download PS2 I kinda wondered what faction to play. This is how it went for me.
VS went to the trash immediately, because I dont like lazors and plasma. Also I absolutely hated the hover tank in bf2142. So it was either TR or NC. TR looked promising until I read the lore and faction traits. I do like high damage weapons, so I went for the NC and when I joined they had less players than TR . I dont really regret it. Now I fight for certs and directives, directives being a thing that kinda attracted me back to the game after 4-5 month hiatus.

You really don't expect an electric rodent to have perfect command of English do you? Especially when his native language really just consists of 1-2 words used in different tones.

Sometimes his translator just gets wonky. He probably should see the Professor about that.

An undying hatred for the enemy.

    Terran republic.
This is the empire from which the story begins. Having existed for over four hundred years, it is the originator of all three empires.
The Terran Republic was officially established with the ratification of the Declaration of Constancy by nations weary of nearly two hundred years of war. They brought order out of chaos and introduced the world to an era of peace. Terrans eventually made space travel possible. From this, Wormholes were discovered, studied, and found to be a means of transportation from one area of space to another. It is through one of these wormholes that the Terran Republic found their way to Auraxis, an earth-like planet that could sustain life. They proceeded with their ambitious plans of colonization on Auraxis which continued uninterrupted for 20 years.
Things radically changed when the wormhole collapsed stranding the entire expeditionary force. They began research on how they could re-open the wormhole, which utlimately failed. During these uncertain times, "Vanu" artifacts were being discovered on Auraxis. Shortly after this, the development of "Rebirthing" technology began. It started to become clear to the Terran Leadership that this new technology could possibly destabilize future colonies. They established draconian restrictions on the new technology, so they could study it better without interruption or meddling by private companies or individuals and adapt it for use with their own military. A sense of immortality began to create turmoil between developing groups of people with significantly different philosophies as to how the technology should be used. Already, a faction of technophiles emerged embracing the Vanu technology and its lost knowledge.
Unrest formed between the developing factions which was exacerbated by rogue scientists and republic military deserters. Previous attempts to quell the uprising ended in a bloody battle and resulted in the separation of the Technolords, who then declared themselves the Vanu Sovereignty. In the initial chaos rogue scientists released blueprints for rebirthing facilities and instructions on how to use them. While this was going on, a third faction called the New Conglomerate seized the opportunity while the Terran Republic was occupied and was able to create an independent rebirthing network just as the Terran Republic feared.

On defence I'm fighting to kill enemy gameplay by destroying their spawn points, flank-n-backstabing their infantry and/or tanks and overall making them suffer and feeling fool. And retreat.
On offence I spawncamp spammable bases and points with HE munition and Zepher/Duster to drain enemy reinforcements.
    And other such things.
Just because I know how it works, and there's nothing more stupid than straigh head2head fight.

So, at all I'm playing to make enemies life as bad as I can.

P.S. Only playing TR because of amazing carbines and Prowler.

Not only do we fight mainly for certs. Everyone fights for the perverse feeling we get for besting someone. It is the core reason behind multiplayer. Also, we TR fight because everything looks good in red and black. Don't you know they are stylish colors?

Factions. Well honestly if the TR wasn't trying to kill us I wouldn't be trying to kill them. However, the VS... their MAX units have high heels and I cannot possibly let that exist any longer.

I don't see 'besting someone' as perverse. I see competition as a means of being human. Sports and friendly competition are great alternatives to war and violence. Competition also makes us better in what we do. For example at my first job, a co-worker and I had a competition to sell the most combos. We both set individual records for that place and made quite a bit of money in sales.

When you add teamwork into the equation, you make friends with teammates and have a great time as well. Sure there are people who compete only to make themselves bigger than their fellows. But they are missing out on the fun.

I compete to make myself better. I actually don't really care how it makes me appear to my opponent. Bigger, smaller, cool, badass, jerk, whatever. I'm there to be the best I can be. And I don't care how small, or big, or whatever my opponent seems to be, he's an opponent, nothing more.. nothing less.

TR is fighting for an order, unity brotherhood.loyalty that worked dozens of years on Earth. Okay now Waterson is the leader but the goal is still the same.Peace and unity.

NC is fighting for freedom yeah right corporate dogs money hungry goons who can not take your money when and how they want cause the Republic so they give false info ,and lies and recruit those who believe them, that's all.

VS well if you are not doing what they think is best than die. They are the pure kinda like 1939-45 Germany.
  12. RemingtonV

The TR says it fights for order and unity, but if it was orderly to begin with then the VS and NC would not have rebelled. What started as a democracy, became corrupted during the exploration mission. As supplies ran low and tensions ran high, the TR leadership on the ships started to acquire more power just to maintain enough order to keep the colonists alive for another day. The TR leadership promised that once they found a planet or reestablished supply lines with Earth, so that the supply shortages could be solved, they would relinquish the power that had gained back to the people. Upon landing on Auraxis, however, the TR government refused to give up that power. Anyone who spoke up was imprisoned, those who protested were massacred.

The NC was formed by politicians, military leaders, and business owners who had enough of the TR. The started talking about succeeding. In response, the Tr started nationalizing business. Using this, and the protest massacres, as justification; the NC formerly rebelled against the TR.

But hadn't TR gained control of earth, we have the TR unity as a directive weapon with the description of it being a memorial weapon made for honoring the T1 Cycler for its part in the war for earth? TR kind of was know to keep the peace for over 200 years according to the lore. :p
  14. Flopperdonkey

TR wouldn't use alien tech while they despice experimental tech, which is the reason why they aren't using Gauss Rifles or plasma/laser, they are a old school faction sticking to what they know works which are lots of bullets and gunpowder (according to TR weapon lore) :D
  15. Ballto21

While the terrans had done good the only way for any species to survive is to evolve, including humans. Only with Vanu can we ascend to the highest plains of existence.

Vanu lore bull aside the terrans are corrupt on auraxis. If you read the lore on the Terrans, they were warped after arrival on Auraxis. Tom connery wouldnt even support them as they are now.

People sometimes deny their darker sides, and it has been recorded throughout history. This is actually IN THE LORE, where Vanu scientists discovered the almighty nanite chamber in order to achieve immortality. How do you think TR soldiers are alive to this day? Whether they like it or not, the TR do indeed use alien technology, but I will admit, I like how they still use cartridges that far into the future. Massive respect for them, mano_O
