Reign of the 0.5 KDR's

You know you have it completely wrong. Anyone that is repeatedly killing the enemy over and over is far more valuable to the empire than the guy who dies over and over. Who is really helping their empire? The killer is, the not so much? Only in their own mind and forumside.

Light assault main here and I'm not sure I will like this patch unless they also make vehicle kills have a bounty (esp for AMS sunderers).

The good snipers will have a ball as now priority targets will give them even more XP.
  3. Zotamedu

It would be nice if they threw away both the XP and score system as well as K/D. Why do we need points in an MMO? There's not like there's an end to the match so we can compare score and declare a winner anyway. Also, some very useful tasks like playing AA MAX to keep the skies clear pays very little points so doing something very useful will give you no K/D, XP/h or points/h to enlarge your e-***** with.

Sounds like it would be a lot easier to just remove it all than to spend so much time trying to balance it.
  4. Quake

This is a FPS game, the MMO part just really means its massively multiplayer, a massively multiplayer FPS game.

Sure. Look at that HA, getting 20/1 kills against a whole 300 man zerg coming. Meanwhile, the base is being totally zerged, a generator (gate gen) CANT go down, or else the base is zerged by vehicles, and in the end, instead of him going back for the generator (Which clearly just popped and screamed for the whole defending team) and yet, there he is, ignoring the base defense, doing the whole Outside of the base killing cause he thinks hes defending, and stays outside, while on the other side of the base a 3 man squad got in an destroyed 2 generators.

But he's defending the base, right? There's no point in massive killing if you keep losing your objectives. And I'm not a .x KDR players, and I'm saying that. Damn, as a medic that revives and heals a ******** of people, I get 2.6 KDR still. As a medic, that's my main funcion, to heal and revive. Not to kill. So, as I keep my defensive lines up most of the time, the others keep pushing the enemy back.

But only the ones that kill are the useful ones, right?

    Something like this:

I'm SO ******* valuable. Not the Engineer who died MUCH more then me and provided a lot of repairs and ammunition. Nor the Medic who was reviving and the engineer who died just to keep that northern spot of The Crown Safe. No. No. I'M THE MOST VALUABLE MEMBER OF THIS THREE MAN SQUAD AND COULD HAVE HANDLED ALL BY MYSELF.

    Really?
  6. Quake

Well maybe you were the best part of your 3 man team and don't even realize it. If your medic and Engie companions are good they won't die that much and going by your session stats looks like you cleaned up on the enemy nicely. The Engineer and Medic are both also capable killers as classes. Somehow the notion they are allowed to die at will in Planetside 2 has eluded me. All Infantry can kill.

You deserve credit for a strong play session, if your teamates also played at your level then you have a point about your situation, not the average where you see far less of that.
  7. Dkamanus

The session was strong because I had teammates backing me up, using simple tactics that rendered the enemy useless. Although killing is important, MAX Unit have still huge timers, and we we're fighting HUGE numbers. They we're doing some kills as well, but thanks to the geography of the place, a Dual Grinder MAX with 2 Extended Mags was a walking turret that literally grinded ANYTHING that moved there.

But beyond that, my utility was zero. I could only kill infantry. The Engineer was dropping those AT mines along the pass, while the medic was reviving people to keep fighting. Some people started to show up as more and more zerg came in, and I spent a LOT of time in the same spot, while they were running around doing their thing.

They weren't dieing in bunches, but they did die more then me, mostly because they're not clad on composite armour, and therefore were dieing much more to a 10~20 man zerg moving up. And still keeping me up in order for me to do my job. It is my job to keep the enemies at bay, so they can make their jobs, so they can do their jobs and keep me alive in order to keep the enemies at bay.

There is no more importance in a game like this. All are equally valid, and equally important on such a game, specially when territorial control is what matters...sort of as of right now. In a game where a death is totally meaningless (since there are no tickets, there are revives AND attackers and fast respawns), saying you grabbed 143/11 means **** if the base which I'm defending is getting lost (which it wasn't).

Revives, Repairs, Ammo Drops, Heals, AT Mines for protection against vehicles, Mana Turrets for suppressive fire, AA Guns, covering fire, GRENADES! All of those can be easily provided by bad shots but with half a brain and be used for effect. They won't get the kills, but they will save the base. And In a game like this, THAT'S IMPORTANT! Not KDR!
  8. Littleman

You didn't get what I meant. What I meant was these guys will have done SOMETHING or lived long enough that they won't be fresh spawns by the time they get back into your camping spot's LoS.
  9. MintiFresh

Hi. The patch should have been in the game from the beginning.
  10. Meatwave

Im lvl19 and its only since lvl 17 iv been better than 1-1 kd as a infantry only player who actively captures objectives and i feel that removing the kdr invalidates all the time iv spent practicing to make sure i can maintain a decent kdr while still running as a front line soldier and participating in team work. so what if you die all the time and can't achieve a good ratio the answer is simple just get better at ps2 , there is no need to remove my only indication that im not just another unskilled player who is a mindless meat shield ,
  11. NyaR

You are going to leave the game because you get less virtual points?

Don't let the door hit you on the way out!
