Regarding "Safe" Spawn Rooms / Teleporter Rooms

    Hello all. I'd like to discuss something which has me on the verge of finally giving up with this game. If you've read the title, you know I'm talking about spawn rooms and teleporter rooms (such as those found in Bio Labs).

    First up, let me say that these safe areas aren't required to play the game. You can always spawn at a base off the front lines. However, when standing in a safe zone you should actually be safe.

    Today alone, I've been killed in safe zones dozens of times by (but not limited to):
    1. Zephyrs and Daltons (through the roof).
    2. C4 through the shields and also glitched into the room.
    3. Prox mines through the shields and also glitched into the room.
    4. Tank mines through the shields and also glitched into the room.
    5. Grenades through the shields and also glitched into the room.
    6. Enemies appearing from thin air into the room and gunning people down.
    7. Enemies dropping through the ceiling and gunning people down.
    As you can see, the list is quite extensive, and that is today alone at one Bio Lab (save point #1).

    I challenge this. I know it rankles a lot of people to be shot from a spawn room when you have no chance to retaliate and because of this they feel abusing the game mechanics to be justified. I call shenanigans.

    Anyone have any feelings on this?

    Beyond your issues with the "safe spawn".. is the fact that too many of them are just barrels for shooting fish in- if players ever do come out.
    I understand some spawns being super confined areas (like in the Lab).. but there are too many other bases that do not allow the players to in any way defend the base.. because the exits are clearly in the open and 100% camp-friendly for attackers. I honestly cannot fathom how a developer said "yeah, this is a good idea' and designed spawn rooms to be that in the open.

    Speaking of bugs though- just today i learned that people can shoot THROUGH the Biodome in certain places.. and not only that, they are exploiting the heck out of it.

    Biodome is probably a rendering thing yet again. I know you can shoot through ammo towers that don't render that you can shoot through shields that don't render and you can shoot through buildings that don't render.

    Its so annoying that you cant even be 100% safe in your own spawn

    Oh woe is the PS2 community that the render distance would mess up so many things in this game.

    The kicker is half the time it is VS that abuse these bugs since the Saron HRB can shoot accurately from so far away that **** doesn't render. Can't ever put a Sunderer under a Biolab in the shield bay because some dick will blow it up from extreme range with nothing I can do about it.

    That sounds like a teleport hacker.

    Yes, seen about a dozen of them on Miller today and it is getting steadily worse.

    I agree, it seems explosives placed close enough to the shield can make it through quite often. Grenades sometimes make it inside as well. It's especially an issue in Bio Labs where teleporter rooms are small and cramped so the defenders abuse it by constantly detonating explosives at the shields. It used to be an even bigger problem in beta with tank shells splash making it through, it was improved but not fixed entirely.

    Today, on several bases, trying to defend them, we could not.

    There were 10 of us in the spawn room, and 1 enemy on the flag.. or maybe 2... the rest of the enemy was busy spamming the living **** out of our spawn. We could not get out. We could not defend.

    But there's 10 of us, and only 1 guy on our flag.... what is wrong with this picture.

    This is the new way of capping bases. Lib **** the flag of any resistors, camp the spawn point for any newcomers... and just have 0-1 guy on a 0/6 flag to slowly try to cap it, but let's milk the spawn for awhile.

    Wow so much fun.. deploy at the next base to form up, same thing happens. Can't defend against such monstrosities.

    I rage quit for the first time today over that.

    [DISCLAIMER] Oh yes, for the 'go AA' guys. oh we do that. I am a raging AA MAX believe me.. I get mad and go out and yell at them and do my best. But not much you can do from a spawn door when a Zephyr/Dalton is slamming into it, and I can't defend a flag with a MAx or cap it.. so there.

    Anyone frequently use C4 to kill people in spawn/teleport rooms? Is there a formula to getting through the shields?

    No, there are gaps at the base of the biodome that you can shoot through. We're talking things the size of gun-slits on an armored car and they have very limited view. Go onto the outer ring of the dome from the aircraft landing pads and look closely along the bottom edge of the dome.

    I'd call it more of a design flaw then an exploit.

    Even if that is correct it would only allow the shooting of things that were along the outer edge of the inside of the dome. From the sound of it shots are getting into all of the dome where the actual fighting is.

    Why is it that in this game, if you close your eyes you can just ignore something exists and maybe even yourself (rendering issues). One of the most frustrating things is being hit without any indication of what is killing you. Its like a cheat tool but its avaliable to anyone in a big battle. This should be priority one imo.
