Recoil drift increase on .75 ADS speed guns is a bad change

So this is going to be pretty much the end of their reign I'm guessing, and possible an end of their use at all for many players. I hate TR's recoil already, and my Jaguar looks like it's going to be shelved for Trac 5 after this change since mid-range effectiveness is very important and more uncontrollable recoil on the Jaguar...no thanks.

Maybe I'm wrong and they won't be that bad, and I'm also not saying some of these weapons weren't overused and/or relatively more powerful than similar competing weapons to the point of obsoleting them for many players. I just think the .75 ADS speed weapons are going to end up the obsolete weapons now instead. Recoil drift is pretty penalizing on accuracy and frustrating to deal with since it's a bit RNG rather than being up to your own control.

The NS weapons seem like they'll be utterly worthless after this though and I'm less on the fence about that, they really don't have enough damage already, and now they're losing the one good thing they had going for them which was accuracy and control. Not a loss to me as I don't even own any of them, but it's not good seeing viable options shrink rather than expand.

I also feel like TR is getting hit hardest here, only slightly, but our weapons already have recoil issues. Stacking more on our favorite weapons is going to further reduce the effectiveness of players who can aim well enough that the random feeling misses are severely penalizing not to mention frustrating. If you're going to nerf weapons, I think it'd be better to do so in a way that doesn't make them less enjoyable to use.

Maybe if 0.75x ADS was a bit more evenly distributed you would get more sympathy.

As it stands, TR are the only faction with 0.75x carbines, and VS are the only faction with 0.75x LMGs - excluding low DPS NS weapons.

Good point, we should nerf the aimed accuracy for high damage NC guns too.

It already is, or do you mean when you're standing still and crouched?

I tried some of these weapons on different factions on test thought it was more noticeable on sva than jaguar. But I found the change more annoying to get to grips with than something that just seemed like a fair change.

I wasn't serious, I just meant to say that "My faction doesn't have something compareable" isn't a justification to break something like this. I'm okay with worse accuracy, but they made the recoil pattern almost random which means that there's almost no learning curve with the weapon anymore.

    This.

    For example:

    All pistols: 1.0
    All carbines: 0.75
    All ARs: 0.66
    All LMGs: 0.5

Is SOE giving to much credit to 0.75x ADS? Introducing randomness to a weapons performance is certainly not satisfying way of dealing with it.

I for one has never been a huge fan of 75 ads. I usually sprint-ads-shoot-move on instead of peaking corners etc. ads.
I dunno, 75 ads it just seems severely overrated unless there is something im forgetting.

I personally agree, maybe it's one of those weird things players seem to overvalue because it's faction specific to some degree and just goes on their "things they have that we don't" list. People still think VS no-bullet drop is a big deal as well so...

I'm not going to be all that devastated by the change(Trac-5 is neck and neck with Jaguar already really) I just think it's a bad design decision to add random uncontrollable recoil as a balancing tweak. It's just going to make them annoying to use even if it doesn't ruin them. It makes them low-skill guns that players can't effectively get much more out of from learning to compensate for recoil because the recoil is too random to do so with. I don't think it's what anyone wants for any faction.

A decent idea, they probably should've considered this when making the LMG hip-fire changes - same concept with size/weight of gun determining effectiveness while moving.

This change was not only on 0.75x ADS weapons. This change happened to all NC LMGs, none of which are 0.75 ADS.

Great change even though it affects me as I have been abusing the carnage br since it came out.
These high rof weapons with ads and decent accuracy had next to no drawbacks and the hilarious thing is they even do more damage then long range weapons.
Sorry but balance is good, one weapon to rule them all was and is stupid.
  14. Odin

They are still deadly in close out to 40 metres and if bursted they do fine. Heres a idea use a real longer range weapon for longer range...gasp omg balance

Wait, what? I thought the only change to NC LMGs was the reduction in hip fire accuracy, just like everyone else's.

I will be sad if my H-V45 gets nerfed. It already has high recoil and can't reliably hit distant targets without a forward grip, so if you want to do that, you have to trade close-range power by forfeiting the ALS. It already has the longest reload of all the VS assault rifles, so increasing it even more would be overkill.

well, bringing the weapons in line and leveling the playing field for the different factions seems like the right thing to do, surprised ti too them this long, its been a year now, and no, its not a bad change its long over due that SOE did something.

Random recoil is a horrible way to balance a weapon. I dont want to roll a dice every time to see if i kill an opponent. It takes the decision making out of my hands.

How did I know it would be TR making this thread?

Give me some of your carbines and I might agree with you.
