Recent Huge FPS drops

Since the Hossin release, my frames have just got worse and worse. Me and my friend have this.

This is not my computer. I can run battlefield on high-ultra no problem, even before the start of these drops.

The problem is 1: I have dropped about 15-20 fps on average, and 2:i get huge drops to like 5 fps very often.

I used to run planetside on a mixture of ultra and high at stable frames (no drops). Now i have switched to Medium to low and dont have stable frames (i get big drops).

My question is 1: Does anyone else have this issue? ( since hossin release on all continents)
and 2 : Does anybody know a fix for this? It cant be my rig as all other games work fine as they used to.

    Thank you for your time.

To clarify you are experiencing this on all continents or just Hossin?
  3. Yuukikun

It's on all continents, you can even see it on streams. Their fps keeps getting lower and lower after playing for 30 mins.

    Sounds like memory leak.

I was getting 70+ frames on all the optimised continents but after the Hossin updates my frames have dropped also. Obviously you would expect Hossin to be lower concidering its still an early build not the finished article, I get about 40 on Hossin.

But my frame rate has also dropped to 50 on Indar now sometimes lower with micro freezes and stutters after last couple of updates.

I have always run high settings apart from shadows and flora which are set to low.

Also after 3/4 hrs of continuous play the freezing can get worse but after a re-logging it sorts itself out.
A fix would be nice RadarX, glad your back in the seat remember you well from Beta :) (specs in sig)

    I can't say I've been having any issues, but that's probably because I'm running a 4670k @ 4GHz.

I get a minimum of about 52 and max around 90 on ultra, with a HD7870. Enabling smoothing locks my frame rate to 56.

I don't know what your hardware is like, and I don't really know what your issue is, but perhaps you can compare specs and see.

    Firstly, it's on all contents.

Secondly I play 30-40 fps on high to ultra, but the problem is it's not stable.

Smoothies enabled. I just get huge drops.

And liam23490 I'm sure it's not my rig, it worked fine before, and battlefield 3 is still fine the way it was.

but I'm open to suggestions because one of the reasons I play this game is because of it's sheer beauty, I spend a third of my time admiring it all.
Seems to be happening to the less high end rigs? Friends that play max graphics have no change. I feel it's only the medium to high players

Right here is my logical guess.

My RAM or memory or something has been working at it's highest. 4GB RAM was always just enough to play planetside with skype open. Now, with new updates, new content, planetside becomes more intensive. The fact I was running at the limit, means that anymore usage it can't cope. This is my guess, however, some players with more RAM than I have still get this issue. I don't see any problem here, I've checked everything- the only issue would be 1: lack of ram 2: my modified gpu (HD6870 2.8gb )

I've actually been avoiding Hossin somewhat since the novelty wore off because there are a lot of bases where for no obvious reason I lose 10-20 FPS just from being in the area, regardless of how big the fight is. I've noticed that just standing underneath certain bases below the main platform produces a distinct ~20 FPS drop for me and I have high end hardware.

Running in 1920 x 1080 on maxed settings usually 60+ FPS until big fights occur.

    i7 4770k @ 4.2 GHz
EVGA GTX 780 "Superclocked" (Factory Overclocked GTX780)
    Ripjaws 4GB x 2 @2133 MHz
    PS2 Installed on SSD

Yet Hossin has massive performance hits in some bases. Hope they 'optimize' them or whatever it is they do to improve performance soon.

I'm experiencing, especially on Hossin, a lot of lag, stutters, unresponsiveness from the keyboard and/or the mouse.
Since the last patches, especially from the liberator's update, the game has gotten worse. Since the Hossin patch for me it's very difficult to play.

I played this morning and randomly I felt instagibbed while my HD was screwed.

    And:

    I
    This.
It's especially evident when I'm in an ESF and my controls start to lag or I received damage after some seconds I've been hit.

    Same problems.
Those 6 months of optimizing work SOE did have been nullified in one patch. On top of that there's regular server "hiccups" and - at times - very bad hit detection which all together can cause some very frustrating game sessions.

Played a bit on Woodman, Nason's defiance.
Nominally I got 45-50 fps. But my game was laggy, stuttering, etc.
  13. Sandpants

At hossin launch it wasn't so bad for me. 40-50 was the usual.

    Now I can't get above 30. Usually about 15-20.
  14. Takoita

Frames dropped for me after the Hossin update in general. I could understand if it was limited to the new continent, but when all of the others dropped too, that got a little too much for me, so I took a break.
  15. Noktaj

    I'm experiencing something similar.
I used to have 60 (limited) to 50 fps regularly, around 40ish in big 48+ fights.
Since the update I'm experiencing random FPS drops. 40ish normally and 30ish in big fights.

If i quit the game and restart it sometimes it helps in getting them back, so yeah, it looks like memory leak.
I'm experiencing these issues on every continent.

    My rig:
    i7@2600 3.4ghz
    8gb ram
    win 7 professional
NVidia geforce gtx670 with latest drivers.

I have the same issue after a long time of play. I run everything off/low except for Graphics Quality at medium. Over time, my FPS slowly keeps dropping and never returns. I am forced to completely exit out of the game and reload it and my FPS is back.

    Specs: i7 2600k, 8gb ram, win 7 pro, SSD, gtx 570.
  17. volth

    Me too.
It start at 70 fps on Hossin and then after 30 min or 1 hour start to drop to 50fps.
But most of the time the game crash before it have drop to 50fps so I need to alt+tab and kill PS2 and then start it again.

    I7 920, 16gb ram, win 7 pro, SSD, 660gtx.

i have hd 7850 in crossfire paired with a amd fx 9590 and 8gb ddr3 am at 2886mhz. Some games like bf4 detect my crossfire, but bf3 and planetside 2 dont so i only get like 35-75 fps. This really sucks coz in big fights my pc is gpu limited due to the crossfire not working. I update my drivers and the crossfire worked, but then i rebooted and amd catalyst didnt even recognise my gpu at all. HELP WTF
edit: in warpgate im cpu limited.

It started before Hossin update - i've noticed first massive drop on Amerish after the revamp. Next one - occurring on all continents after missions phase one update. After the Hossin update my fps dropped, byt they sort of normalized after a fev days. Right now my fps drop drastically:

    - at Amerish:Shrouded Skyway (~60% drop) - The trees, they are evil!
    - at Amerish:Moss Reavine - leaves, probably.
    - whenever i look at Medic's shield regenerator ~4-5 fps drop for each one in sight.

After this last update my game play frame rate goes to junk after 30 minutes or 1hr from 75FPS down to 8FPS or lower and i have to restart the game to get things back to normal it fells like there is a memory leak, One thing i do notice when this happens the where it saids FPS and GPU it starts saying CPU when it starts losing the frames , My hardware is Pentium G3258 clocked to 4.6ghz 8gb of DRR3 2133mhz and a OEM GTX 560 Ti.
