The mission marker is huge and in the way especially while flying
The noises are kind of annoying.

Perhaps the following might work to reduce clutter:

    • Smaller font for Mission Capture: Location
    • Remove meters and direction indicator arrow, integrate both into the compass above mini-map.
    • Remove the waypoint marker from main screen, put it either on the mini-map (if close enough) or edge of mini-map if its off the mini-map.
That way, it doesn't really clutter most of the rest of the screen/HUD.

Not spent a huge time yet playing on test, but already I am noticing a distinct correlation between my attack or defense missions and the other faction also showing up. Thinking of coordinating with some folks willing to cooperate and intentionally shape lattice so that there is a potential 3-way fight at a lattice hub or central location such as at Eisa Tech Plant or maybe one of the 5 lattice locations.

Did notice the fact that I was in a Reaver for a while but my mission remained "attack ______" but I was able to verify with some cross-faction help that his mission immediately updated to restore the lattice to his location as soon as I contested a point at a 3-point base.

I would like to see some sort of MVP system in which a squad/platoon/outfit can designate an MVP for an event. Then that MVP will receive a reward for being the MVP. Players in the squad/platoon/outfit can vote for their MVP choice. Rewards can be some sort of randomized care package with camos, xp boosts, and in rare cases, new weapons or even certs.

The more players in the voting pool, the higher the chances for better MVP rewards. This can perfectly coincide with the mission system and promote friendly competition and unity within squads/platoons/outfits.

Players should be able to see each members total points, kills, support scores(repairing value, healing value, spawn bonuses) etc. then they can determine who really helped out the team the most. This way groups of players can decide what they value most. Supporting roles, or pure killing ownage. Then they can vote for their top players for superior performance in battle.

Another spin off idea, since there will be tons of small missions, maybe instead of a supply crate, they get an MVP token. Tokens can be collected and spent on different tier levels on supply crates, similar to the WDS. 5-10 tokens=a tier 1 crate, and 50 or so can be the highest tier crate. If each capture/defend is a mission, then tokens can be achieved quite often. Perhaps alerts can reward multiple tokens, since they are 2 hour "missions"

    On another note:

Please PLEASE developers listen to my feedback for GENERAL development of this game.

While I understand that some newer players may feel confused as to what is going on, there are a large number of us "veterans" who have played PS2 since beta. I have also played PS1 since around 2007. I don't need some spoonfed system to help me on where to go and what to do. I am perfectly capable of hitting the "M" key and looking at my map, seeing whats going on, and formulating a strategic plan to what I want to do.

I get it, you want to make your game easier to understand, grasp, and immerse players. But please don't insult our intelligence, those of us who know how to play this game.

I like the idea of the mission system, it has some potential. And I even offered an idea in my previous post. But I do NOT want a silly waypoint showing me where the next attack should be. "DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO BRAH!"

Ok!? don't take offense, just please hear me out on this! You all are doing great at bringing this game to its true potential, I am here to voice my OPINIONS and that is what they are. OPINIONS. Take them or leave them!
  6. Malorn

Size is being reduced. Transparency being added when not being focused.

Sounds & animation also being removed when transitioning out of a facility. Intent is that you only hear the sounds when you get a new mission, not when transitioning to different locations within the same mission.

Such efficiency, cool changes, and wasn't expecting anything less.
    Gj!
  8. Mormomboy

That sounds good to me, that was the only thing that I had against the mission. Also, do they give extra xp, or did I just not notice that. May just not be implemented yet.

EDIT did not notice that was a dev at first, just read post. Thanks for the fast response to my post. I love when the devs communicate on the forums instead of leaving us guessing if we have been heard.

When were you guys planning on telling us that the entire continent of Hossin is now open?!
  10. Mormomboy

Hossin closer to finish? kinda to be expected considering it supposed to come out somewhat soon.
Edit, would be nice to know about that though...
  11. EmperorPenguin5

This doesn't work as it will directly cut into their ability to make money... Which is a very large factor in a free to play game that is consistently losing more and more subscribers....
  12. EmperorPenguin5

Doesn't solve the issue of the mission system being worthless to anyone but the most lone wolf of lone wolfs who don't care to play with or help anyone.
Also last thing we need is another tool to PROMOTE ZERGING!
Your Alert system already when layered on top of lattice promotes zerging as the best course of action, this mission system will solidify it as the only course of action in any strategy...
Which is the last thing you need in this game.... Which is deterring more players than attracting...
  13. Desann

So I just patched 5GB of PTS updates...

Checked out the new "mission system" and to be 100% honest. I do not see a point to it. As a veteran player (since beta and PS1 since 2007) I seriously feel this is a useless tool for me. Now for a new player, OK, I can see some use.

But please make a toggle if you are going to add this (which we all know you will because you think your ideas are always "needed"). Otherwise, prepare for hundreds of complaints on the forums when this goes live. I don't need a beeping waypoint to tell me were to go. I prefer to hit "M" key and look at the map, assess the battle with CURRENT features (hotspots, population monitoring, lattice) and make a decision on were I want to go. I then drop my own waypoint and head that direction.

As I said before, I don't need SOE to hold my hand and show me where to shoot at the enemy.

I'm sure you heard of the Unreal/Unreal tournament series no?

This game was created by a handful of guys in a small office. They put stuff in their game that they knew people WANTED and would love. One of the developers said in an interview "you can have it right, or you can have it right now". And when you look at the whole idea of gaming vs profit, you get 2 mindsets. Make a game that people will love, with features that are AWESOME, or make a game that is going to net us the most PROFIT as fast as possible.

The issue with a PROFIT mindset, is that the game begins to lack DEPTH and loses its player base REALLY fast. Hmmm like this?

I am a huge Planetside fan. Have been since the first game. I will voice my opinion and say what I think would better this team-oriented game. If SOE decides not to add it due to losing MONEY$$$$$$$ then that is on them.

If you build an amazing, truly unique game, the money will come along with the loyal, dedicated playerbase. SOE is already making so much money off this game its dwarfing the other games. I would quote someone on this, but last time I did my post got deleted...

To stay on topic. I do not feel this feature is ready to go live, and needs A LOT of work. I saw the term "player created missions" and this is NOT a player created mission. I would like to see squad leaders being able to create missions, and possibly even grant rewards to deserving players. If money is the big issue, then make the rewards certs. Sure you can argue that more certs = less SC spent, but whatever. If all SOE cares about is money with this game, then PS2 is doomed to die very prematurely.
  15. EmperorPenguin5

-.- My statement wasnt in defense of anything. It's the basis for why they wouldn't take your idea. Also unreal tournament was buy it at the store not play for free....
  16. ghoststeel

Not sure if this is the place to tell of bugs with the new system but I have found one on Esamire, when heading to the place marked on the map I hit & walked in to a wall on the edge of the region it was sending me. Thinking it was just with that place I head to a different place & it worked like you said telling me to capture the place I was heading & again I hit a wall that was not there.
  17. MickeySerendipity

Transparency like the base ownership markers? I'm not sure that will help all that much, it's still unwanted movement around the edges of your screen and the most annoying times of all - when it's in your crosshairs - won't be affected at all.

Don't get me wrong I love the idea of a "strategic overlay" in the HUD, I just think it's a monumentally stupid idea to not be able to turn it off so you can concentrate on being a grunt and let your SL/PL concentrate on that stuff.
  18. Desann

Either way, this feature is not ready for implementation and is annoying to veteran players like myself. I do not need a beeping/flashing waypoint guiding were my WASD keys are taking me...
  19. DeadliestMoon

Well they did just announce that they were going to be streaming live base designing every tuesday this month starting on the 11th. So obviously they would open up the entire continent.
  20. Mormomboy

I would expect that to happen at the event or closer.
