[Question] Effectively using the Vandal

I recently bought the NS weapon Vandal and I'm really enjoying it, but I'm also really sucking at it. What are your suggestions for effectively using the weapon (optics, attachments, tactics, etc.). Thanks in advance for the advice!

On my HSR-1 (which is almost the same, better bullet velocity by a bit, smaller magazine, lower ADS speed, otherwise the same) I just use a 4-power and pseudo-snipe (100-150m). Works pretty well.

Although I don't use this weapon specifically, I have used many guns and I'd say this gun is best suited for sniping at short distances. Try the 6x zoom scope with a suppressor. I'd start off shooting out of the spawn room so that you are under no pressure and for you to get used to the gun. Then once you're ready head out and cloak from point to point and get into good positions, e.g. windows or building rooftops. For the implant I'd get Hold Breath 3. Hunter Cloak and Nano Shield or Advanced Shield Capacitor. Good luck :)

I just use the vandal more or less like a standard infantry weapon. I'm something of a semi-auto specialist so I already have three other options that can handle precision shooting from range/ambush better. So the vandal became my combat rifle.

However it is still a semi-auto so accuracy is still important. Automatics will always beat you out unless you get headshots. You'll find with a semi-auto placing accurate shots for the multiplier will always kill faster than spamming shots at the body and realistically is the only way you'll regularly beat an automatic in a straight up firefight. They can afford to spray and miss, we can't, so trigger discipline under fire is major.

My basic setup is a Flash Suppressor, foregrip and 2x optics. I also found the compensator and laser to be useful at times.

Not a fan of the 6x or suppressor. The former because the rifle isn't built for range and the latter because it takes the weapon's worst stats and further reduces them for the sake of not showing on the map to a few guys that are just going to hear your weapon audio anyway and use a detection device. I feel like if you want use these there are other weapons that handle and support them MUCH better. On the vandal it feels like trying to cut a steak with a spoon.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll take this into consideration and try out both close combat and short range sniping and see what works best for me.

I used compensator, grip and 2x chevron scope. It's a good gun, I have around 600 kills with it but I stopped using it, it just doesn't suit me. Also HS/NV scope and even iron sights are surprisingly useful on it.

As far as I know then compensator and grip have little or no effect on semi-auto weapons. On all scout and battlerifles I always use laser sight and flash suppressor. When im running with my Vandal then im always using 2x sight, even when engaging targets further than 150m. So far my best killing spree with it is 27 kills without dying, and is prolly one of the weapons im most effective with.

The weapon is heavily reliant on the players skill at pulling off headshots thou, otherwise you will lose pretty much every engagement within 30-40m.

Think of it as a Battle Riffle.
It is everything a battle riffle should be.

I run mine with irons normally, its just fun to use running around just shooting dudes, even if I die a lot..
I do have a 4x, but I find it is not effective at sniping for me, I just use a BASR for that.

    I use it like this:

4x or 2x, compensator, grip. Aim for the head, the shooting rhythm is a tap pause tap. Only ever spam mouse 1 up close, try to keep all your engagements medium to long range and you should be fine

I run the Vandal in my standard loadout with

    6x scope
    flash supressor
    forward grip

Capable of sniping per double tap (personal longest kill 260m) and bullet spammer from close to mid range.
Most important thing is, to aim for the head because of low dmg.
