I know that people were complaining about them basically getting one-shot killed as well as the engineer rushes but they did cost resources. It seemed to me that it was no different than a tank/sundy getting gibbed by a ESF shooting it in the back. Similar resource cost and similar outcome. Making them larger and removing the proximity capability was a little over the top. I compare it to something else people complain about. OHK snipers- a similar nerf to snipers would be not only making them pop up on your map when they fire, but removing their ability to move and cloak for 15 seconds after a shot. ----doesn't make them entirely useless, but at the same time> the downside is so extreme people will stop sniping.
Noobs can't play the game properly so they call for nerfs and SOE obliges, that's all there is really.
The size change was completely uncalled for. The problems people had with AT mines were them being used in an innovating manner as AV grenades, and their render distance, which isn't really affected by the size change. The one problem people didn't have with them, is being used properly. The only people who had problems with this are blind people who were terrible at the game. I've never seen a game turn AT mines into oversized pizza dishes before, and I hope this change is reversed.
Pretty much this. Mines in their previous form were fine, I'll concede that sundy sapping balance was debatable, but the change has done nothing to affect that, if anything having larger mines only encourages sapper behavior because it's more likely to score the kill than trying to lay it as a trap. Besides if I sap a sundy I know that I don't have mines placed, if I lay a trap I have to check it to know if I can place a new set of mines. I really wish they'd give us an indicator already.
I honestly don't understand either. I got killed by ATM like 3 times in the last 3 months. It's really easy to avoid if you are smart. The only necessary nerf was the first one that prevented mines from exploding on non moving tanks. But making them so huge was a terrible idea.
