PS4 vs PC gameplay

I wouldn't believe any comment from someone saying a console game looks better than the PC version, the devs would literally have to go out of their way to make the PC version look worse, lol, especially with the new consoles being very outdated hardware wise to the point that any optimization bonuses from a closed system is negated.

My guess is that right now they're focusing the majority of their efforts into releasing the game on PS4 in as close to perfect of a condition as they can, and since they're only having to take 1 set of hardware into account, the optimisation process is much, much easier and they can push the graphical limits a little further as a result. The PS4 version might use different shaders and the like which could make the game look 'different', but not necessarily 'better'. As far as I know, the PS4 version won't be running at a native 1080p and also doesn't support as many players per server as the PC (or have as big of a player-base), so one assumes that would indirectly reduce hardware stresses.

That's not to say that these changes won't trickle down to the PC version, in fact, I vaguely recall reading somewhere that there's another big optimisation patch in the works (don't ask me for a citation on this, because I really can't remember) that will involve transitioning over much of the PS4 optimisation to PC. Another thing to remember is that the version being played at SOE Live right now is still subject to change before release. Look at how sub-par Watch Dogs ended up looking compared to its trailers and early footage. That, along with Dark Souls 2.

Nobody cares, the big problem with games on PC is the community and game devs realize the PC players whine so much about everything that it slows them down and probably gets annoying so they would prefer to appeal to a community that just plays the games and doesn't whine that such and such is overpowered constantly. On console most people just ask for what they want in content updates while on PC the players are all dragging the devs around for their own sake(such and such killed me NERF EVERYTHING!). Console players tend to be more social types of people and I guarantee they are more likely to play sports, empathy and these team-based personality traits are why games work much smoother and are more popular on Console.

I've seen some really really bad $1000 PCs. This means nothing. Unless they say it's better than certain GPUs and CPUs then there's no worry.

Which version we on about ? :p

I loved Planetside 1. I like Planetside 2. I have a PS4. This thread is about graphics between PC and PS4 versions of PS2. I would like more info, so I can then compare in person the difference between PS4 and PC graphics.

    My post was relevant.

My PC cost about $500-$600 when I built it back in 2008. The hardware is now dated. Saving up for new mobo/CPU/RAM. Going to cost another $300. I bought a Geforce 650 GTX on sale for about $120. So my new PC will have cost me $420 and will play on med-high graphics, which is fine for me.

Gaming rigs don't have to cost so much. Sure I don't play on Ultra, but that doesn't bother me.

Great optimization = Shiny PS4 planetside 2. Horrible optimization = Somewhat shiny PC planetside 2 with a rig that's far more powerful than the PS4.

    This is FALSE.

Having played on the high end PCs (at home and here) and then the PS4s here, there is no overly discernable difference other than the skybox shader on Amerish is inverted on the PS4 (bug) making it look cool.

In fact, the PC version looks better especially when you bump up the render quality into super sampling.

As far as gameplay is concerned, i would rather play 30 fps low settings on a pc with my existing char than having to deal with a controller.
No matter how much x10 ultra super insane they make ps4 look,
  11. Maelthra

The devs have already confirmed that the performance optimizations made for the PS4 version will make their way into the PC version. I wouldn't really worry about the PS4 version looking better than a top-tier gaming PC.
  12. Cest7

As Maelthra posted above, the performance improvements are coming.

Until recently the pipelines for PS4 and PC were separate. They are in the process of merging the 2 builds so we should expect good things in the near future.

Title mentions gameplay, thread is entirely about graphics.

da fuq... I wouldn't wipe my *** with 30 FPS after just spending $1000 on a top of the line CPU

    ...I smell a console mole

IT COMES DOWN TO ONE THING:

    MONEY

PS4 is a new market. They want to hook new players and new sales and maybe even get some PC players to drop cash on their superleet #betterthanPCgraphics PS4 version.

PC players are already an established market so they don't care; "F*ck you, we know you'll still buy our hats"
  16. sixoo

high res version from gamefront interview, starts at 12.46.

  17. Majorpaynekills

    60 FPS not 30
  18. Majorpaynekills

    1080p with 60 FPS
  19. Majorpaynekills

WOOOOO so low end battle PS4 will get 1080p and 70-80 FPS and on a battle of 500 people it can drop down to 25 FPS
  20. Halo572

Well as we all know from experience, as long as there is a lot of flashy flashy, bangy bangy nothing else matters.

If it looks good who cares if all you have is a 100 vs 100 TDM instagib in a CoD Shipment map?

    No, wait a minute.
