Or shining your battle flashlight at the enemy! Pewpewpew!

Okay, well a lot of flashlights I guess.

Exterminating the xenos herbs is not a day off for a Space Marine; it is his duty to the God Emperor!

Seeing this accoss the battlefield would be worth the price of a paid sub:

If Infantry players could toggle between 1st and 3rd person, then EC would be a clone of PS2. While FF shares the same 3rd Person View as EC, it otherwise is almost totally different: lots of PvERPG content.

Seems there are 4 types of PvE for EC:

    1) PvE in PvP: thematic
I'm a HUGE fan of the purely thematic PvE (fodder NPCS that are in bases to flesh out the theme, like Chaos Cultists in Chaos Bases). That and the bases changing to have cosmetic of the Faction that owns them should go a long way to bring a stronger sense of immersion to the game, why not really affecting gameplay.
Conclusion: I like it. I think both PS2 and EC should have it. I thought PS1 should have it when I played that at it's launch.

    2) PvE in PvP: if a faction does not protect their captured territory and gets over extended, NPC Tyranids will spawn and eat up the empty bases and attack the player forces
I'm on the fence on this. On the one hand, I don't want something ruining the PvP, tying up players from fighting each other. And I don't want players farming PvE content instead of engaging enemy players. On the other hand, maybe this will help better deal with Continents that have ridiculous Overpop by one faction.
Conclusion: Maybe. I'd have to see how it actually affects things.

    3) PvE in PvP: Hero Players can summon Demons that will attack enemies. I assume these Demons are NPCs.
If it's cinematic and epic enough, and really just a creative, short lived, and very rarely usable weapon, then I am all for it. But I don't want to see gameplay of players spawning bots to fight humans over and over.
Conclusion: I like it, as long as it's just for show and over quick and not common. But if it's spammed bots all over the battlefield all the time, then I don't like it.

    4) PvE: Instances
I am all for EC and PS2 having a single player (or co-op) storyline game if it sells more copies. They already have the art assets and much of the coding. But I don't want a bunch of long grind treadmill PvE content that ties up players from doing PvP. There are a lot of cool things they could do like Instances that drop groups from different factions in at the same time, but once you start taking players out of the live game, your player Pop drops and the massive battles lose population. Maybe if a Faction knocked everyone off the continent, it could spawn a special NPC Boss End Game challenge... but that wouldn't be an instance.
Conclusion: Dunno. There are some really cool possible scenarios, but it seems like it could derail the actual PvP game, especially depending on overall population.

Ultramarines: yup, I read they are in as a Sub-Faction of the Space Marines.

Necron: nope, they are not reported as a PC or NPC.

That kind of PvE RPG slop would be an absolute nightmare.

Comparing these two is like trying to compare GTA 5 to SR 4, they're as similar as they are different.

I bet EC will have huge population issues. Half of players wants to be space marine and half of those ultramarine. Theres gonna be 1/4 ultramarines instead of 1/16.

3rd person persepective for infantry is a bad idea, other then that I can't say they are copying planetside. The archtypes or classes this game or 40k has have existed for eyons.

For one they have the jump pack infantry dual weild , using a sword and pistol. Redicilous ideas like close combat weapons being a primary weapon in the far future is something that makes the warhammer game unique and very not planetside or any other shooter.

Also the sort of heavy assault equivalent just have a heavy gun, a realy massive gun, not just slightly heavy armor (they have the same armor) but are defined as heavy weapon specialists.

The base idea of a endless war across a continent or planet is similar to planetside, but truthfully that in itself is a vauge genra on itself. Its lilke saying matched FPS is a close of counterstrike.
  8. LT_Latency

I don't like that they have suppression.

Maybe it will be better here but i hate it in BF.

It's all about the Blood Ravens my friend, nothing else matters (i'm defintily not just tabbed out of the Warhammer 40K Dawn of War 2 Chaos Rising Solo Campaing... definitly...)

also for anyone who needs some PURGE THE HERETICS in their Planetside

After playing PS2 this weekend, I take it back. I am 100% in favor of the experiment to add NPCs to engage and tie-up the Overpop Faction on a Continent.

I logged onto PS2 last night and tonight on Emerald and Connery on what should have been prime playtime, and it was full of each Faction picking a different continent to Overpop. Even one of the Alerts I looked at was a single dominant Overpop, while other Factions stuck to their Overpop on other Continents. This type of Overpop stacking is understandable in terms of easy grinding, but it makes for lousy gameplay in terms of competitive fun.

If the PvP FPSMMO/TPSMMO needs a NPC sponge to soak up Overpop and force balancd Population on Continents, I am all for trying it.

There have been a few reaching ideas that were tried without success on PS2. And although they didn't work out, I was all for the attempt and appreciated and understood the resources sacrificed to make each happen.

True. After doing some reading, I see that Tactical, Assault, Devastator are the core Troop groups for Space Marins. And Terminator (and Scout, Crusader, Devastator, Bike, Veteran, Command, Centurion, Land Speeder, etc.) are all additional Space Marine Troop groups in 40k.

Apothecaries are upgrade options in Command Squads, which make them a little different. But whatever.

And I was mistaken in my comparing them to PS2.

    Tactical = standard trooper
Assault = trooper with jet pack (like a Light Assault)
    Devastator = heavy weapons trooper
Terminator = heavy armor/weapons trooper (like a Max)

I'm not what if any mirroring of PS2 Classes the EC Classes will have.

Well, unique besides Star Wars... and He-Man, She-Ra, Thundercats, Voltron, Thundar, etc.

PvP FPS are almost all nonstop fighting. And MMOs are almost all persistent worlds. So PvP MMOFPS games I would also totally expect to be nonstop persistent fighting.
