PPA cannon on magrider

    This thing is way OP . I spawn and get killed 3 times at a sunderer before the thing had to reload . It shot non stop rounds for like 30 seconds till it had to reload . Think it needs a smaller magazine. NC needs something that can throw lead down range that long till having to reload !! Not sure if he had large mag on it or really fast reload but the range on it was devastating !!

    PPA is normally useless, but oh boy killing massed infantry hiding behind rocks and corners and rooms in buildings, is just a joy, but i think the PPA is fune and no problem at all, since there are so few of them.

    hehe I like how it's as good as it's always been, but people recently discovered it... But yeah, nerf the prowler marauder, and buff the canister by a ridiculously small amount and watch the maggie faaarm

    PPA is fine, L2P.

    Actually, yes, the PPA is outperforming the other MBT AI secondaries by a significant margin (especially since PU02). We can only presume that in the April general balance patch they do something about that.

    The base magazine size is 50, and reload time is 4 seconds. I have 4/4 magazine size upgrades for a total of 70 shots. Yes, yes it is hilarious.

    I don't think its vastly OP compared to the Basilisk (roughly 500more DPS) or the Kobalt (roughly 700 more DPS). It fills a pretty good niche. If the Cannister was buffed up to be on par in a similar niche I don't think we'd see these complaints.

    Its basically from what I've seen, a supped up Lasher. Perhaps the Cannister could see a 75dmg 1m splash from each pellet. Allowing it to saturate an area with infantry with multiple mini explosions?

    It kills slower than other AI weapons for a longer constant uptime. It's basicly a Lasher. the orbs also fly about as fast. however the biggest detriment to it ia it's no bulletdrop. it's pretty much impossible to kill an enemy who you have to direct hit at long range aand that happens oftenas you can't shot the ground next to him.

    Better secondaries for magrider somehow compensate for terrible main cannon. If Nova will be buffed, then other ES secondaries should be buffed too.

    It's not so much that the Magrider's main cannon is weak, but because it has to face enemies to shoot them. The biggest disadvantage I find when piloting the Magrider is when I have hostiles to my left and to my right, if I turn to face one, I expose my rear to the other. This is the reason why the Magrider needs secondaries that are stronger than the other empires, who can simply swivel their cannon while keeping their front/side armor exposed. I honestly wish the game had MORE asymmetrical balances like this to give the factions more flavor.

    Although I would say that the magazine size on the PPA is a bit too large.

    Yes, but nova is also weak. Low DPS and huge bullet drop.

    You kill infantery faster with a prowler spamming HE than with any dedicated AI secondary, so look who is talking? Prowler the infantery farming machine no1!

    I was specifically talking about secondaries, but yeah your specific case where comparing the PPA vs HE-120, yes the primary AI weapon is outperforming the secondary AI... don't see your point though?

    If you think the HE-120 is OP, then make a thread about that

    wait what? an anti-infantry tank secondary excels at killing infantry in the open? you dont say!o_O

    the ppa does no damage to armor. that said, a magrider with supernova (which is the weakest from all primary tank cannons) and a ppa is very prone to any attacks from enemy armor or aircraft since the magrider cannot really do much about them (a magrider without saron or halberd is only half-effective anyway). exploit that fact

    use combined arms, use tactics, use your brain. dont just stand there, be cannonfodder and cry "omg i was killed again, OP OP!"

    Compare the magriders AI capability (without secondary) to that of a prowler or a Vanguard... then come whine that magriders got slightly better AI weapons...

    the ppa being better than the canister and marauder has more to do with their ill conceived design rather than the ppa's power.

    Do you honestly think the marauder (prowler) and canister are balanced right now? if you do, fine...

    I just think the nerf was unnecessary.

    FYI I don't think the entire tank balance is way off, but I do think that the prowler is the most boring of the three and nerfing the secondaries doesn't help, even if it's sooo not the cause of my dislike for it (the boring turret/sitting-duck mode is)

    whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine. Can you say something about canister 8 round rocket launcher what have one rocket damage compared to one heat prowler cannon. Its VS my gooten. They are about technology. If you thinks this op, it must be op. YAY LORE. Now someone tell me devs canceled lore, but its about technology. I still use LORE for some reasons.

    one thing. Why marauder is grenade launcher with no dmg to vehicles, but Fury, the another TR converted grenade laucnehr to NS, with DAMAGE to vehicles. SOE? How intelligent you are? Who create the balance? Higby? I don´t know if it´s still there, but i think yes.

    The PPA is either too good at what it does and more, or the marauder and canister need to be brought up to its level (I'm pretty sure many would prefer the latter).
    For one, the PPA can melt AV MANA turrets within render range, and with relatively reliable accuracy as well because of the PPA's large projectile size and its lack of drop. Secondly, the PPA has a seemingly endless ammo capacity, making it a far more effective suppression weapon—especially with its splash.

    Both the marauder (a.k.a. a modified fury, which no one uses anyway) and the canister cannot hold a candle to the PPA's utility and effectiveness as an AI weapon. I can partly see how the prowler's natural main cannon's AI effectiveness can curtail the need for the marauder, but it's probably also due to the fact that the prowler is best for sieging, and so it is rarely brought into that effective range.

    One way I can see the canister being fun to use is to actually somewhat "overbuff" it so it's extremely deadly in close quarters against infantry. For example—a potentially controversial idea; modifying it so it fires excessive numbers of pellets such that it may be able to take out multiple infantry per shot at the close ranges it was intended for (with the RoF, dropoff, spread, etc. balancing it out, of course), since it's useless against armor.
    This would actually fit into the NC faction trait of high damage and finally give NC a "unique" shotgun, and perhaps would even allow vanguards to fully utilize their durability to rush head-on into infantry squads. Out of almost all vehicle weapons, it feels like the canister's been left out the most, seeing as how it can be so easily outperformed by something as simple as the stock basilisk or the kobalt in almost every situation. It fills in too small of a niche.

    As opposed to the PPA, seeing a marauder or a canister mounted on their respective MBTs (or harassers) is now very rare, and that should not be happening with any part of the game content. Everything should be fun to use.
