The past few days I have been seeing a lot of people that seem to have no recoil / COF what so ever. There is no way in hell an MCG ( w/e its called now) can land EVERY shot, full auto, 40m+. Between that and IA every where i am really bored now. i had more fun piloting a galaxy as VS between the warpgate and the front I realize that post is old however it shows the power of auto hotkey. I know people like their macros and all, hell I cant live without my auto run key, but if you cannot set your macro through your mouse or keyboard software OR need functionality that is not provided by your mouse and keyboard, your macro, IMHO, is cheating.
I agree that they should stop AHK from being used. But if they do, the people who do use it to cheat, will complain that they were using it "legitimately" because of "reasons" and they will put it back again. It's what happened in BF3.
I'm actually genuinely surprised this isn't banned already. Seeing as they are totally against modding the game in any way shape or form... AHK, even for legitimate uses, is modifying the game. It should be outright banned... no questions asked. But no doubt SOE will see threads like this, say "meh" and let it go to the back of the forum without further consideration.
I can run scripts with my Logitech software (software for my keyboard and headset) so that means they have to ban that too? (no idea if the scripts on AHK is compatible with Logitechs software however)
I imagine the scripts they use are to simulate key presses at a very specific interval to reach maximum accuracy and still maintain a decent fire rate.
I just can't understand cheating, why do they want to play a game they can't play, why not go play LOTRO or WoW or something, what kind of pinhead even puts himself into an environment that they have to cheat in to have fun. It's very bizarre.
i think people that cheat in online games are there to simply troll and make themselves feel better by ruining others fun. trolls come in all shapes.
Here's an even crazier idea (or thought rather) - Don't you think who want to abuse/cheat the system can search? It's not like this is some underground thing with invite only access.
AHK and Au3 anti recoil scripts dont work the way you think they do. All they do is move the mouse position down by a set amount for a given time frame of firing. Its not vary good at controlling recoil, overall its more effective to control manually. Reality is there is not much you can do about input emulation as its not easy to detect (methods used to detect it are invasive, and can cause legal issues). Not to mention a large number of gaming oriented HID's have macro capabilities (most logitech devices have LUA scripting capabilities).
This is also what someone who uses a cheat and is pissed off they aren't the only one using it would say.
Not at all - this is why we have Terms of Service. Agree or leave. Perfectly commonplace - you'd be amazed at how invasive Blizzard's guardian tool is.
that doesn't mean you have to plant the seed in the minds of those that didn't even think about the keyword "autohotkey" or the existence of recoil exploits so they wouldn't spend time investigating the matter... I didn't know about the existence of it before I read it here. Does that make me oblivious or unique? I don't think so...I just don't look into that stuff and I can only assume there are others like me. there are other ways to point SOE to the problem so there is no need to aggravate the situation by posting it on main game forum with clear instructions how to find it. Everyone might know google but not everyone knows how to use it correctly. want proof ? check all the stupid questions (and answers) that are flying around over the internet. You can even google it !
Afaik AHK is a 3rd Party tool and as the TOS/Eula state : 3rd Party Tools that influence the gameplay and bring you an advantage over your enemy are not Legal. Apart fromt hat Nikushimi +1. Detection of AHK in particular is not that hard since you can just check if its running actively in the background though if you use it for something unrelated to planetside 2 it would detect you as a bad guy aswell though not very reliable.
A little thing called transparency - by making these issues public, people are aware of the issues. It leads to deterrence by fear - as well as the possibility of adding a few more rotten eggs to the stew.
