Located here: ps2guides.besaba.com/gameguide This guide provides a basic game overview, information about factions, classes and vehicles, some tips that are usually given to beginning players, as well as some of more in-depth and convenience information for advanced players. Basically, I compiled and moved out of my LA guide everything that isn't directly related only to Light Assault class. I've quoted and referenced quite a few people in the process, and I thank them for their contribution. I will probably be expanding and improving it in the future, but the main goal is fulfilled - create an up-to-date comprehensive all-in-one resource, that can be linked to beginning players, or to players who would like to know more about the game. I welcome any and all feedback, as well as critique and troubleshooting, as I was at it for the past 8 hours and quite likely missed a broken link or two.
fantastic guide good read, lot of usefull information to nearly every aspect of the game ... but most people that should read it will not because its so long. what a shame. thanks for this great effort
My work PC is saying:- Any ideas about the viruses reputation? I'm assuming it must be based on some info about besaba.com I get the same message if I visit besaba.com, so perhaps that's the problem. Info from whois:- I'll have a look when I get home... I'm sure it'll be okay and I've got a virus checker anyway, as we all should... I look forward to reading it.
Stopped reading after the intro, "Freedom has a Price". Typically when you write a guide, you should probably at least try to remain as impartial and factual as possible. A lot of what you wrote in the intro (most of it) is your opinion, and unnecessarily hyperbolized - you use the word "massive" a lot. Also, a lot of what you claim is based on the game as it is now. Some of it wasn't true a few weeks ago, some of it will not be true in a few weeks.
Thank you. My position is that if a person is willing to learn, he will learn. There's no going about learning to play without ingesting big amounts of information, my only goal is to provide that information in convenient, objective and up to date form. If a newbie is willing to learn, give him a link, he'll be grateful. If a noob is unwilling to learn, he will not learn, guide or not, lots of letters or not. That's quite possible, because "besaba" is part of the "hostinger.in", which is a free Indian hosting. I assume it's quite popular among malware spreaders. There shouldn't be any malware on my site, though. I did a fresh Joomla install just this morning, and I haven't uploaded any files. Unfortunately, there's not much I can do about it, apart from purchasing my own first level domain name or moving the site to a different hosting. Hostinger/Besaba is the best free hosting I've seen so far, and I'm definetely not paying out of my pocket to host a profit-free site with guides, so the best way would probably be just to ignore the warning and white-list my site somehow. Totally be wary of other sites on free hosting, though.
Absolutely... Yeah, I'm confident it'll be okay and it's just where I work that is taking what steps it need to block what it sees is potential threats. I'm assuming there must be some sort of database that companies pay for that blacklist certain sites. As for whitelisting this one where I work... I'd probably get the sack LOL. laters
Perhaps. I do tend to overuse "amplifier" words in my writing, this happens unconsciously, I will clean them up later. Yes; that is what called "being up to date". When stuff gets changed I will update the guide. It is in no way in a permanent form, I often do small updates to my guides. By all means, let's discuss it! Note, that I don't wish to argue or force my position upon everybody, all I'd like to do is to establish the truth. I've attentively read through the into again, and I couldn't find anything that would be imprecise or illogical. Could you perhaps point out a specific area that revolted you?
I see my professional advice and spelling errors are still present :3 Great job from what I've read so far!
I knew you wouldn't have it any other way As my father says, "spelling errors give a feeling of authenticity".
Not sure the Class breakdown for the planetside-intel site you linked to in your guide is remotely accurate. Shows me as having nearly 800 kills and a KDR of nearly 8 as Infiltrator despite only having just over 100 kills as Infiltrator on the official stats site. Then it seems to have messed up the Light Assault and Engineer Kill/Death stats. I barely play as LA yet it shows me having more kills on LA than Engineer (and having a KDR of 0.27 as Engineer which I know is horribly wrong) despite most of my kills with Carbines being with Engineer (all 2500 of them or so, which interesting the total LA and Engineer kills add up to less than that on the planetside-intel site). It also says that I got all those LA and Infiltrator kills (all 1800 of them) in a combined play time of 15 hours on those classes. My total play time is just under 250 hours. A KPH of 120? I could only dream of achieving even half that.
You are correct, that site is outdated and doesn't seem to be working properly. I've been meaning to check some of those links, but I keep forgetting. I'll remove the link.
What I like about this guide is that it is linear, like a book. I find that on some of the wiki sites I get lost after a bit because each link tends to take me off at a tangent and I end up spending far too much time wading through all the info. There may be more info in the wiki sites, although some of it is not kept up to date, but I wish I could have found a similar guide when I first started off nearly a year ago now. There are some things that may be considered a matter of opinion but I'm not even going to go into that, simply because most of the guide is bang on, in my opinion
Yeah, that's what I thought as well. In the end, if someone wants specific specifics on something, it's better just to ask experienced users about that. But if someone wants just an overview of the game, or some tips that aren't usually found on wikis, linear guide is better.
