Planetside 2 Cover vs Planetside 1 Cover...One of the reasons it sucks to be Infantry

    There are plenty of places on the maps where there is a lot of infantry cover..

    As compared to Planetside 1, Planetside 2 was designed specifically with tank spam in mind. Not just that, but with the idea of letting tanks go just about anywhere that infantry can (and then kill them).

    You can easily pull that off in a lot of sections of the existing PS2 maps. Stay still inside a bush and most vehicles will drive right past you unless someone spots you on the proximity RADAR.

    Being able to lay prone in PS2 would be nice - as long as they could do it without enabling dolphin-diving nonsense.

    It does seem that way.

    Basically game-lore-wise which ever faction just put tank-proof wall around their bases would be utterly unbeatable.

    Yes there is, cause vehicles can't cap objectives :)

    Infantry has no purpose to be in open land, there's no generator/scu/cap base there... all time as infantry in the open is wasted time

    Lets look at this problem from a different perspective, how do real infantry deal with being in open ground?



    The reason why inf in PS2 get totally asswiped by vehicles in the open is due to the fact that they cannot lie down and prone. Lying down makes anything knee high into completely viable cover, plenty of small rocks, ledges and shrubs available even in open parts like north Indar, right now the only effective cover is chest height which either doesnt exist outside bases or is so obvious that any decent tank driver can simply flank and blast anyone hiding behind it.

    However this simple solution would never happen because of all the forum whiners in beta who said it would look like BF3. But guess what? the reason why prone in gaming even exists was because DICE found out it was the only way that stopped tanks from completely dominating infantry in BF1942 and that was over 12 flipping years ago.
