    "This is YOUR fight."

Sh*t no, this fight is not for console fanboys.

Actually I do. Bug crashes happen a LOT on this game. What happens when a game crashes on the Console? Generally it means resetting the machine while the PC is about starting the program again. 10-15 years ago crashed games meant resetting your computer but they've since improved upon that considerably. Console OS's lag behind PC OS's by over a decade at least in purpose and accessibility.

Could they do a test server on the console instead? Sure but it would be a lot easier on the PC instead especially since the console would require maintaining copies of two games both of which are huge, both of which sit on systems that generally lack the drive space for a giant test program.

Besides the test server could cost SoE a TON of bandwidth since the PS4 crowd will inevitably be bigger than the PC section as well.

P.S. God please don't fix the stupid screen flash bug. I would laugh too hard to see little kids raging out when PS2 stopped working on their PS4 and they had to reset the machine because the machine input dropped to jack squat.

Awesome, anything to keep this game a float!

Well.... so much for my fondest hopes being realized. No hordes of reinforcements. No showing the new guys the ropes. No epic battles with every continent sizzling. No passing the torch.

    Fudge nuggets.

Anyhow, so much for PC support.

If i were to download PS2 on the PS4 (lawl acronyms) with my current station....account....thing, as TR, will i get all the **** that i've paid for or would i have to buy it all again?

If i have to buy it all again then thats a deal breaker right there for those who may actually play on both due to friends being on the PS4 rather than on PC (don't start, i know they SHOULD be on PC but whatevs)

I've been in fights that large, maybe twice since launch, without the game crashing. I've also been in a few fights that large where the game crashes. So the engine is certainly capable of it, but it might not be totally reliable for that kind of thing. It'll probably be easier for them to pull that off on the PS4, since everyone playing on the PS4 will have the exact same hardware and there will be less troubleshooting.

Free Realms and DCUO are not cross-platform for the PS3/PC, so I kind of doubt PS2 will be either. I'll probably play it on PS4 anyway though.

Have fun losing all the time and money you spent on your PC character in that case.

I was berserk with nerdjoy for ten minutes. Now I feel like my dog died.

We don't really know the details yet. Things can change between now and when the console ships and PS2 hits the console. I feel like SOE will be having PS4 players log into the same form of SOE account we currently do on the PC. It would be a cheap shot of SOE to not allow PC converts to bring over all of their purchases. Sure, restarting characters is expected (definitely, imagine all those new guys logging in with all of us BR50s+) but my collection of cool helmets and camos MUST carry over. Simply too much mulah spent already and while I'm planning to spend more, I'd rather not have to spend it on the same things I've already purchased on the PC. I like supporting SOE, I woke up one day realizing I'm a Sony fanboy so they definitely have my wallet, but they can milk the new crowd for their dinero. I already paid my tribute to my Gods.

As for cross-platform play, if the PS2 has M/KB support, it would definitely make no sense not to cross-platform it: decent game pad users will be obliterated by decent M/KB users either way at that point, cross-platform just introduces MORE M/KB players to the mix. Besides, a M/Kb combo is $10. The average controller is $40. I think there's going to be a preference in peripherals by price point alone here.

If it doesn't ship with M/KB support, absolutely, separate servers.

By the way, I will be absolutely FLOORED if SOE can manage to get the game to run at even a consistent 30FPS while two-player split screened on the PS4, but that is a ridiculously long shot I imagine.

In regards to game pad support, PS1 had phenomenal joystick customization options. You could set the dead zone, ramp up/ramp down zones and everything for sensitivity control, making it perfectly customized and tight FOR YOU. Movement was still cardinal and based on binary, so using the gamepad while playing PS1 still felt clunky, but I could perfectly tune looking around into my comfort zone. No I didn't own (come on, game pad vs mouse) but consider how huge that amount of sensitivity control would be in a game pad vs game pad setting. For a month or two, I literally played with the game pad in PS1 simply to play with those control options. No FPS on a console should ship without access to that level of control over sensitivity. Make it an advanced option under the simple number/bar concept, but for baby Vanu's sake, give me that level of control in PS2 on the PS4 if it doesn't have M/KB support!

All of that footage was live server, and at least the TR portions were filmed last Friday.
  14. TeknoBug

Advertising MAX crashes in the video, that part is hilarious.

I'm sure they'll get their own servers.

As long as the dev team does not start "consolizing" the user interfaces or introduce other console crapola like aim-assist then you will get no hate from me.

    Otherwise have at it.

And that's a disaster -- for the sense of community that goes back a decade; for the old outfits that won't be able to make the transition; for those of us that would like to but will face the specter of hundreds of dollars and thousands of hours going into the trash bin, or for the starving-college demographic that simply can't afford four hundred bucks on a new box so they can play their favorite game in good company with decent pops. It's a rupture within the community similar to what we faced when European players would have been unable to access US servers.

We made enough noise to change that. We need to do the same now.

this is horrible news for pc gamers

now they will listen to and evolve the game according to their console users (as there will probably be more console players than pc players) so when the MLG420PROLEETYOLOGAMERS ask for stupid stuff to be put in the game they will get it

battlefield did the same thing - as soon as they focused on console battlefields (BFBC2/BF3) the whole game series went downhill

i think im getting too old for games anyways - its got to the point where just about every game nowdays looks horrible to me, planetside 2 was my last hope for a good game this decade and now thats ruined by console kids :(

i hate to say it but i wish i diddnt spend so much money on this game now as i dont think i will like where its headed :(

    I share your concerns.

I doubt this title will float on consoles if they don't do cross platform. I fear if they do cross platform they will start catering to the console users (more disk menues like the hold "Q" one) :/
