[Guide] Planet Side 2 is pay to win

You can't say a game is "pay2win" by being strict about the definition of payment but flimsy about the defintion of winning, and then ignoring whether or not the two ideas exist in a causal relationship. This is not a one-out-of-three's not bad kind of situation.

In that case, I suppose the problem is more accessibility and, maybe, asset retention. In PlanetSide, everything is accessible from the same Depot as long as you can afford it one way or another and, after you have it once, it's always available from a terminal somewhere.

No you've simply changed the definition of "pay to win".

The original "pay to win" model was players were UNABLE to achieve something that gave a clear advantage without paying for it. Leaving the "free" players at a clear disadvantage.

That is NOT the case with Planetside 2 and never has been.

Buying a different weapon or pink camo won't make you better at the game and doesn't give you that much of an advantage. A good player would wreck you even in full stock gear.
Ok it's p2w by that 0 subs 33 views guys definition. And? Even the most played game in 2015 (league of legends) has boosts that allow you to acquire champions faster. Do people complain it's pay to win? No, because skill matters waaay more and the advantage is almost non-existent. Same goes for Planetside.
I would understand p2w crying if there were damage boosts or something like that which can't be bought with certs, but crying about slightly faster cert gain? Really?

Whats the point of this post? Are you trying to argue semantics, or are you legit bothered by the way DBG manages micro-transactions/membership and free to play vs paying player or is this just a troll post?

Personally I have my grips with DBG, but the way they've handled Free to play isn't one of those gripes. When I compare PS2 to other free to play games I'd say they have one of the better payment models as far as avoiding giving in game advantages to people who spend money on the game.

My current character is entirely free to play, no boosts, no membership, no money based weapon purchases etc and from the inception I've had no issue stomping people with the default equipment, and no issue developing my character to do different things. The starting weapons are almost all competitive options, and there are plenty of cheap alternatives for most weapons (MSW-R=arguably best LMG in the game at least for 1v1 engagements for like 250certs, prior to patch was probably the VS Orion which was the free default VS LMG).

The only pay to win aspect is the increase in resources for those who have memberships and boosts, which allows them to pull armor and maxes more frequently. I've, regrettably, never paid a dime, and I definitely feel that I'm competitive with players that do pay. Any pay to win aspect, in my experience, doesn't extend that far.

Most guns are a side grade to other guns and after a certain base set up paying for things doesnt matter
