this is not an argument discussion, this is just to inform people what pay to win means.

pay to win means being able to buy any form of advantage in game with real money,

this does not just mean, things you cant get in game without paying,it also means things like boosts, being able to buy things early, being able to buy things with real money so you don't have to spend any of the games currency.

in planet side 2, you can buy boosts,a subscription that further aids you in cert gains resource gains exp gains as well as a subscriber only double exp weekend every month, money off of cash shop items as well, you can buy every weapon with real money, you can buy implants as well.

it only takes a quick glance at the cash shop to notice straight away that this game Is pay to win, thats if you have common sense that is.

now that you know what pay to win actually means, you will now be able to spot them,

It's not pay to win because everything can also be bought with certs. Only cosmetic items and flair are cash shop only.

So yeah, YOU don't know what P2W even means.

Lol, you do realize that everything can be bought with certs and that all weapons are virtually side-grades with situational advantages?

If you're implying that everything should be purchaseable by certs only, then we must live in a magical dreamland where staff and devs never get paid and servers don't cost any money

ok guys how can ps2 survive without money hint it cant so they need money we provide money for them so they can make the game better becauses updates like the new awesome construction update is awesome but cost alot of money so we nee to pay to survive we play an imporant roll in this game without us ps2 would not exist
  6. CrazyFrog

ive just explained what pay to win means, sorry that you don't understand even after explaining it to you Reclaimer77,but my facts are 100% accurate and correct.

you can unlock the weapons in game without paying, but because the option is there so you can,it makes the game pay to win.
imagine a free player, while he is saving for those 1000 certs to get another weapon, the person that's bought his new weapon can spend that 1000 certs on upgrades for his weapon or for his class, this is an advantage and this is one of the pay to win meanings, its not just down to only being able to get certain items by paying, which im pretty sure you can only get the subscriber bonus and boosts by paying anyway,so if you want to put it that way the subscription and boosts would make the game pay to win by themselves.

The few cash coins I bought in this game I spent with cosmetics, BUT one or another 1c cash gun sales. All the rest, and I mean 98% of all my guns, equipement and stuff, I bought with in-game certs.

I can make a Lv.1 character and go around kill BRs 70-80s 90s, anyone for real. The minor advantages you get either from certs or cash are part of the leveling system, otherwise people wouldn't be motivated to gain levels or buy cash.

You can do just as well with a default gun if chose to never buy new ones. Because all the guns in planet side 2 are SIDEGRADES, they specialize, becoming better at an specific field and worse at another.

Stop spreading fallacies and go earn some certs

I found some inaccuracies in your post. There is a distinct lack of caps, and occasionally, you do not leave a space after comma. You also misuse commas'.
  10. CrazyFrog

ok ubernoob1337101 you did just kind of own yourself there, 1. there are allot of better weapons than the ones you start with and 2. you just said advantages <------ this is what people are paying for

you just admitted to the game being pay to win and not even know it :)

    thank you
  11. TeknoBug

No it's not pay2win, ArcheAge, H1Z1 (those airdrops), a handful of other games are pay2win compared to this.

Most weapons are sidegrades, there's like 3-4 total in game that gains an advantage over the rest and are mostly situational anyways (doesn't work for every situation). And then they can also be purchased via certs, which isn't hard to get.
  12. FateJH

Additionally, many people only focus on the "pay" aspect of the phrase so much that they entirely neglect the transient and nonspecific value of the word "win."
But an advantage is not a win and the advantage of your definition is not always an advantage either. You can have however high a rank of Flak Armor you want but die to bullets to your brainpan. You can have however high a rank in Nanoweave but die to well-placed grenades at your feet.
On top of that, the game can't be pay to win if the "win" is ever obtainable by the non-paying options. If one day you both find yourselves on the same plateau all you had done in the past is pointless now. There'll be no more "win" that can be purchased.

this wasn't to slander the game for being pay to win, this game was to inform people on what pay to win means, most games are coming out like this nowdays because game companys are getting greedy and know if they put the option to buy things in game players with most likely buy it.its psychology 101.

but ive explained what pay to win is,and planet side 2 is clearly and obviously pay to win,i cant put it any simpler than that.now you know what pay to win is and means you can now tell what games are pay to win.
  14. CrazyFrog

Pay to win is just what its called FateJH, people that pay don't always win at the game but it gives them advantages and still sometimes players fail at that, but pay to win is just what the terms called,
  15. Nejisaurus

o gawd Archeage....Thanks for bringing up memories of my precious $$$ flushed down the toilet.

I love Lasher when I am at my NC char wearing Jackhammer :D Its like :pew pew pew pew pew pew BAMBAMBAM you are dead.
  17. Bravo2-9

First off your youtube video is not facts.

It is one opinion of what pay2win means.

The most commonly used definition is when upgrades that give an advantage are ONLY available to paying members.

PS2 allows access to every gameplay affecting thing for free. PS2 is pay-for-convenience. Money gets you what you want quicker. Being a free player doesn't bar you from anything gameplay wise you just have to put more time in.

If you think this is a negative thing for a game and there should be no monetary option then PS2 can go to a subscription base instead of free2play.

Boom. Done. No longer "play2win" paying now just gives access to the game.

Or do you think game companies should work for free?

if you can buy any item in game with real money that gives you an advantage, convenience is an advantage, Bravo2-9 no matter what people say and try to defend wont change the fact that planet side 2 is pay to win.i cant change facts that are 100% accurate.in order for planet side 2 to not be in the pay to win category <-----this is the term for paying for in game advantages. they would have to make everything in game unlockable with certs and remove the option to be able to pay for them with real money.then the game would come out of the pay to win category, they could still make money if they had a subscription but remove the f2p model like planet side 1 was.
  19. TeknoBug

@CrazyFrog, I assume you haven't played other games that are pay2win, this game has nothing compared to some others out there that are blatantly pay2win. SWTOR has been turned into one, and EA Sports Ultimate Team (in FIFA, NHL and Madden), ArcheAge which I already mentioned, to a certain point World of Tanks, Star Trek Online, and a handful of those free2play mobile games on Android/iOS, etc. In H1Z1 you cannot get an airdrop unless you use Daybreak cash and the airdrops contains weapons and other items that takes forever to find in the game, and such and such. Planetside 2 has all the weapons available to everyone but you have to buy camo and special gold/platinum weapons which makes zero difference other than looks.

that's your opinion, isn't it convenient that people that have no money to spend on games label any F2P game with any RMT as P2W though?

be realistic, servers and development isn't cheap, DBG has to pay the bills to keep the game running, no profit = no game. they have to offer something with an advantage and cosmetics to rake in money.

sure players can buy weapons, attachments but you can get those with certs for free. XP/resource boosts are incentive to buy into DGB's mutli game subscription or buy boosts. the only things you can't buy with certs is most cosmetics and resource/xp boosts.

the only difference between someone who buys weapons and someone that uses certs is one paid for a shortcut because they didn't have the time to grind or didn't want to grind. any online F2P has to have something to hook some players into making purchases to stay afloat.

it's the nature of online games, you can access a specific amount of stuff for free and some things you have to pay for, it's really no different then a trial for say an anti virus program, ether you pay up at the end of the trial to stay protected or you stop using that anti-virus.

PS2 is F2P and P2A (pay to advance), it is nowhere near P2W/
