Pilots and Imaginary ESF Rules

Do you fly on Emerald? This supposed aerial chivalry is largely non existant. You could probably count the number of good pilots who still fly with afterburner tanks on one hand.

I wonder what will happen if the sky knights suddenly became A2A Coyote wielding ronins.... cookies everywhere!

    Rule #1
All combat must begin with the challenger gently slapping the challenged across the face with a glove while saying "I demand satisfaction".
The reciever can then either accept the challenge, or be dishonoured.

    Rule #2
Before engaging another aircraft, you MUST first get in the jousting line/queue and wait til its your turn to joust.
When its your turn, make sure your opponent is ready.

    Rule #3
When jousting, you must ONLY use your nosegun and afterburners.
Anything else will immediately result if the forfeit of both the duel and your honour.

    Rule #4
Bailing from your aircraft or crashing into your opponent at any point for any reason is stictly prohibited.

    Rule #5
After defeat/victory, you must send your opponent a tell that strokes both epeens at the same time, disquised as a "well done" tell, while calling eachother "sir".

    Rule #6
All rules are unspoken, and it is assumed that everyone who gets into an aircraft knows and understand all the above rules and abides by them at all times.
Lest they loose their honour and forfeit all rights to joust.

    These aren't true.
You aren't really forced to follow any imaginary set of rules, it just feels cheap to get killed by coyotes/ram
  5. Haquim

    Pfft "Skyknights".
The only reason for that word to exist is Infantery that refuses to pull their AA and prefers to whine about getting killed.

There are some "Elitist duelists", but those seem to follow only three rules on Cobalt:
1.) Tomcats are weapons for cowards. (I'm trying to get medals with 'em. They feel inefficient)
2.) Coyotes are weapons for peasants trying to challenge the superiority of the gods.
3.) A honorable duel is fought just between you, me... and my WINGMEEEEN!

They don't seem to be troubled with G2A fire though. Annoyed, yes, but not the way A2A lockons make them rage.
  6. sindz

Rules or not, getting killed by a weapon that requires 0 skill what so ever, is _always_ frustrating to be on the receiving end of. thankfully, people who equip A2A missiles are often pretty bad pilots and if you turn around after the first rockets hit/flared you can kill them quite fast. Coyotes is another thing.

It also feels cheap to get farmed by aircraft. And statistically, there are a lot more lolpods used than rotaries. Even more if we add A2G noseguns on top of that. Feel helpless against Coyotes? Try having your only effective A2A weapon be a glorified deterrent. I would take all the Ground-Coyote spam in the world over that.
  8. Draczar

I've had similar responses from Harasser drivers that get pissed off when I use my Sunderer as a battering ram and destroy them with the aid of slamming them into terrain.
  9. Talthos

You want "cheap"? Try dealing with a pilot that has learned how to hit all aircraft with lolpods. Even ESFs.

Namely, that would be me. And sometimes hitting them with the Light PPA if I REALLY want to *ahem* "handicap" myself, :p
  10. Draczar

I don't fly often which will probably explain what I have to say next, but I've found it actually easier for me to hit ESFs with the light PPA than the default...
  11. Talthos

I would wager that to be because the Light PPA "projectiles" have a larger hitbox than the rounds from the other nose-guns(making it much harder to miss when you're up close), and it's easier to 'lead' your aiming when you can clearly see the crap you're firing at your victim...

Same thing with lolpods. Faster rocket velocity than the Light PPA plasma orbs, but still slow enough that you can easily lead your aim from their visibility.
  12. BarxBaron

Are you kidding me? That's fun for all involved.

Once did a midair super spin from being rammed.

    Hilarious.

"Skyknights" farmers who use unfair weapons to kill powerless infantry are complaining that aircraft farmers use unfair weapons to kill them?

    I lol so hard! :D

  14. Talthos

Well, I ain't complaining. Laughing, yes. Whining and crying? Hell no.
  15. Meeka

    That's your rule, not mine.

Ramming ESFs and wings of Liberators to cause them to spin out of control are legitimate tactics!

Good luck; they aren't as easy as everyone makes them out to be. You still have to be good at flying.
  17. Meeka

Stealth ESF + engagement radar + A2A Tomcats + Tree Canopy = WIN.

You can hide in them in the midst of a big battle and most of the time, not even Skyguards particularly looking for ESFs will see you.

I'm potentially the worst or second worst pilot to ever play this game, 'cept for gal. I am pro at gal.

This rules thing kind of reminds me of the early FPS days and the argument of is camping a valid strategy.

I have to go with what most are saying... if it is within the rules to win using a certain tactic, any method or tactic is fair game, cheap or not, and the only person that ends up pissed off is the player that is dead to the one that used a superior (or cheap... whichever term you prefer) tactic and won the battle.

Don't like it? Learn to find a way around what they are doing.

Also I really just wanted to say though to all you awesome pilots.... keep on piloting, and being brazen and brave and keep hanging around areas and keep charging lightnings with straight on approach trajectories.... my skyguard loves you all so very much 8D

Even better story when I tell it with dragons and ****. Maybe sometime soon I will tell that version.

    P.S. Pilot tears are delicious.

Though I respect your opinion and POV there seem to be a double standard with this.
Because if ever players like myself, Bequ, Spicy, Lekunibert and Unknown for example
was to fly together for while and god forbid, any of us was using lock ons, the threads here
and on reddit would normally look very different.

I have also seen people complain about other experienced pilots if they apply any kind of teamwork.

Or maybe coyotes are just OP and frustrating.

Air game sucks anyway. Binary upgrade options. Unintuitive flight controls. And if the air doesn't kill, the ground and damn right the bloody trees kill you. Like them phantom branches.
