Phaseshift - actual users observations so far

    Hi,

As a collector of every possible ingame weapon, I bought Phaseshift. I thought I will auraxium it for fun.

Weapon actually looks cool. I like the visual aspect. Opinion may differ from person to person, but im content. In next move I went for scopes. 6-12x only. Like SOE trying to tell me that this is long range distance weapon. Sadly - scopes looks horrible. Lancer rip off with additional zoom. I simply do not like this white dot. It ***** my aestethic feelings.

Looking at other attachements and bullet velocity - it was no brainer - do not buy supressor if you want to kill other persons then AFK ones :)

Gun limitations - 2 head taps from semi to kill up to render range. Charged OHK to kill up to 200 meters [using supressor shortens the distance more, learned the lesson the hard way].

As far as semi auto go - its pure normal boring semi with a sway, left with no bullet drop. Slower and more wild recoil then other semis [especially after todays buffs].

Ive managed to score over 110 kills, with a k/d of 25 I think. Which is much less comparing to my sniping performance. But OK, gun is new, im not used to it.

If someone thinks - cool - its like ghost with unlimited ammo - beware! You need to stabilize gun, uncloak, charge and the shoot. You cant cancel charge - gun must fire. Im common to killing infiltrators who only decloak/shoot/cloak/move using bolt action - good ones do it extremally fast - yet still its managable to kill them. Add charge time to equation- gives enemy more time to decimate you. This is point 1 that states its the ulimate "AFK people butcher".

Semi auto option - stats dont look bad, but you can feel the gun refire slower, and damn slow velocity speed give you to options:

a)Kill br1 and AFK from long range
b)Come close to bypass bullet velocity and use long range scopes

    Its like a missmatch.

The funny fact - this weapon is not designed to be hipfired. Yet by some weird circumstances ive hip-killed 10 people in "oh crap" moments wile testing close range.

Final motto of my one hour run is:

"Never before, one could decimate so many AFK people, not wasting actual ammo"

    My recomednations for customers:

Dedicated bolters - its not the weapon for you. Charge shot is a redhead bastard, added for flavour. AFK - killable. ADAD macro specialist - only lucky shots. One bump on the floor - and you know what happens.

Semi auto users - if you are very good with sami auto, looking for bigger chalange, and if somehow you run out of ammo using semi+ammo belt - it might work for you, thus you have to accept that this gun in current shape is weakest semi auto stat wise.

I run the loadout with proxi + adrenaline. Was fun at the begining. After learning the painfully long time to kill, that leaves you exposed - I abandoned idea to auaraxium it for now. Maybe next time, during my outfit drunk ops. Personally this weapon slows me down and makes me less efficient.

Im courious about the opinions of actual dedicated semi auto users, cause im not the one ;)

You said you notice that the suppressor decreased your max effective range but when I played around in the VR a little while ago it seemed bugged and had almost no impact at all (did impact velocity). I set a marker on an infantry, ran off to about 190m and inside that it killed on a fullcharge headshot and the dummy standing behind him a bit did not, didn't matter if I was using a suppressor or not.

    VR bug maybe?
  3. BloodyPuma

No impact on semi OHK wise. Impact on bolt. Gonna check for sure.

More or less how I feel about it so far, important stuff is underlined.

Honestly, just give me a full gambit of scopes to use on it like the TR ES Sniper rifle gets.
(heck give that to NC's railgun also, for the sake of "equality")

I would often use and do actually like this gun in the shorter ranges

Please stop forcing me to use the ****** triangle scopes which are horrible Feild of View, even for their intended ranges.

Not joking, the scope options are my biggest complaint about this gun.

As for with a silencer, I typically use one and this seems no different from the other Vanu BSAR's, it does change the velocity / trajectory some.

these are my list possible buffs for it:

increase muzzle velocity to 650 m/s to match most of the other rifles velocity, keep no bullet drop and 200 mts range 1 hit kill headshot, maybe increase the damage on semi-auto shots.

or sightly increase muzzle velocity to 550 m/s,increase range of 1 hit kill headshot to 250 from 200,keep the same no bullet drop and still increase damage semi auto shots.

or better idea is to apply the charge mechanic from Lancer,so semi-auto shots are 530 m/s and fully charged shot is 630 m/s :D the other stuff remain the same :D

also remove charge ,is already hard to snipe with current breath mechanic and charge only makes it worst :A maybe when pressing "B" you can change from semi-auto to full bolt action without charging

for me this ESSR gives me some mixed feelings, i think it is fun to use, it has more versatility than standard SR due to its 2 fire mode, BUT:

the charging feature makes me more vulnerable because i have to stay uncloaked during all the process, and most of time when you charged the guy is far away / you missed the right moment

a versatile SR is a good idea, but the scope do not adapt, and sniping semi close PPL with a *12 is not really comfortable, so we should take the lower ones.

for the no drop and infinite bullet ... this is more a gadget than anything else, previous long range SR ( parralax, longshot ram 50 (?))
hav so little bullet drop and goes so much faster...

a good point anyway, the phaseshift cooling process is fast
  7. BloodyPuma

One thing take takes me away from this gun, but I think its common for all semi.

Sometimes when you shoot to the head, enemy head plays "hit" animation, flexing the neck and missplacing the head. In close range with Phaseshift is was often the case for me to miss 2 shot and go for body. It cant happen on mid ranges because of bullet velocity ;)

But I think its rather minor thing.

My propositions - its kinda hard. I would love this weapon to be able to OHK to 300 meters, even using this damn slow bullet speed.
I also dont like charge mechanic at all. And the scopes.

But I think its too much to ask for. My pick - longer OHK range.

OK - bonus question. Im playing on ultra low. So:

What kind of trail the charged shot leave? Sniper one, or lancer one?
  8. Ravenorth

This weapon would be pretty perfect if it had low magnification optics, the bullet velocity, OHK range and charge mechanic doesnt really work for long ranges so well, it just makes to whole weapon feel a bit clumsy.
  9. SquirrelWizard

I've tooled around with the phaseshift in the VR and my experience was...

The gun needs lower magnification optics. Juggling scope sway, breath timer and charge-up makes charged shots more of a hassle than it's worth.

the hang time to charge a shot probably wont be worth it on a moving target, but if you could get a clean shot with a BASR I dont see why you couldn't pop the guy with a charge shot either.
  10. Dramma Lamma

YAY, others are coming to same opinion I did.

Please SOE give us more optic options.
  11. pnkdth

Add in the recent buffs to semi auto sniper rifles and the Phaseshift becomes an even less attractive option. On the flipside, I am very happy with the state of the semi autos and scout rifles. Can't get everything, I suppose!

Unfortunately the Phaseshift cant do anything well. Too slow, too unwieldy, too low damage at 200m+ and the unlimited ammo isn't really necessary. I won't get it - tested it in VR a long time, even on PTS. It's not a gun that gives me an advantage over the Parallax.

The Railjack with its double ammo clip (10 rounds) is a way better option for me :D
Hello NC, here I come
  13. BloodyPuma

I got back to my Parallax. Gosh, what a feeling. Its like coming back from a "rough party night" to your faithful Girlfriend. Yep, she is moody and damanding, but when you play by her rules - you got the best "cakes" ( ;) ) ever. Everyday.

Honestly - after charge shots - switching to Paralax is like going from stoneage to XXI century.
Compering close-mid range to Vandal - its like a beats compared to a hipster.
On long range - our long range semis triple outperform it.

After running live compraision - Phaseshift is much worse in each of his double modes. Like double degrade, not sidegrade. Current proprtions of the mix - are not fit.

Close range - lack scopes and hip.
Long range - lack velocity and painful charge.
Mid range - lack refire speed + awful flash while shooting poinint everyone and their mother directly to you.

It need some decent tweeks cause it fails as all arounder. Either kick it towards long range [velocity, same zoom different scopes] or kick it more toward shorter range range [lower zoom, slighly better refire, better hip].

I have to say really enjoyed using it, the charge up headshots took a bit of getting used to but seemed to come pretty easy once i got the hang of it.
My main gripe with it is its semi auto mode, it feels so lackluster, having to release the fire button creates a short delay and the refire and recoil stop it being a viable alternative to use in more frantic situations.

In the end i rarely used semi mode, usually a followup shot to finish off a target at range.

The main area the rifle suffers from is head on situations, with other rifles i can uncloak and snap a headshot off before the enemy realises what ive done, with this i have a choice of trying for a charge or using the poor semi mode, neither felt strong enough to use over my pistol.

This gun needs lower recoil and lower refire time. As it is now it's a cool looking downgrade from stock SASR, Spectre kills way more fast up close. OHK feature is fun to use sometimes, but it's easier to just shoot 2 times with a usual semi auto.

This gun also has ****** velocity, so leading shots is harder. I'll test it more ofc, but so far the only advantages of this gun are unlimited ammo and an ability to fire 2 BASR shots faster then any other gun in the game. After some more practice I think I'll be able to 2hk people pretty fast, but it's still not better then Spectre.

So, all summed up, this gun needs:
    Increased velocity
    Access to lower magnification optics
    Lower refire time
    Slightly reduce recoil

As it is now - it's a downgrade from Spectre.

I've also tested Nyx recently, after the buffs - now this gun is useable atleast, and can actually replace Spectre.
  16. Vivicector

The gun requires faster refire rate, lower recoil and 4x scope option.
  17. Vikingo

I didnt use it for very long, (the TRAP was more interesting to kill people with) but I came to the same conclusions.
  18. Sworaven

I couldn't believe it when DeD was telling me about this. When sniping, you don't want to be uncloaked for very long. I can imagine not being able to charge when cloaked will often get you killed because you're out in the open, charging up.

You probably can't charge while cloaked because you can't fire any other weapon while cloaked and those mechanics were most likely just transferred over to the Phaseshift. I hope this was a mere oversight on SOE's part rather than intended.

Can you charge up and then cloak? Or does the weapon automatically discharge when enter cloak?
Not sure if you're implying that the TRAP has to option to equip all scopes, meaning both the CQ (<6x) and Long Range (>6x) scopes, but that is not the case. It only has acces to the CQ ones. In all fairness, the Longe Range scopes would be pretty useless on the TRAP.

I haven't tested the Phaseshift yet but from what I've heard and read, I agree, the CQ scopes would be a better fit on this weapon.
  19. moriarrr-ceres

i had time to test it yesterday,
its buggy as hell with the same bugs as lancer and vortex.i just added a post in bug section for it.
The velocity is so slow....trying to kill strafing enemies is a pain
-the scopes are bad. you can put every scope on it, you will have a bad lancer scope without any graduations....
-i managed 2 charged shot kill in one breath so its actually quick to charge it but it will be nice to charge it cloacked you are too visible in the battlefield when you use it.

This gun need rework its buggy and not useable effectively for an INFLITRATOR (a class who need to cloack and stay unnoticed)

I tried the trap also its a reliable weapon, i like it
the ns one i realy good but its range is too low IMO and not realy accurate (but fire rate is good etc)
  20. AngersRevenge

I would be happy with the low zoom scope options for it. Also, it seems like it fires a little different than the other rifles (both semi and BASR). Maybe it's me and I just have to get used to using it. But, definately, the low zoom scopes would help this baby out.
