Personal Mines need deploy time..Put some limits to this borderline P2W weapon

I think their render distance is getting better, but I still see them fall under the terrain when I throw them sometimes. As far as I know they still work unless they're a claymore (I've seen people run right over these when they sink) so situational awareness can still be trumped by bizarre game mechanics for the moment.
  2. Springheel Jack

At the moment they continue to fall until they fall through the world, and sometimes will just arbitrarily disappear.
  3. LameFox

As in over time or immediately? I've never watched them for that long, but I will for instance throw down an explosive on a road, see it go through, but the icon stops barely beneath the surface and if someone goes over it (or with C4, if I set it off) it's still present.

Over time they'll fall through the world and disappear. I've also had one just disappear entirely right before my eyes.

****'s broke at the moment, but not in the way most people say.

Wait are you agreeing with me? I mean you understand I was being sarcastic, I appreciate that can be difficult to employ over plain text sometimes.

This man, does not understand the concept of P2W. Classifies P2L as P2W. Sigh.
  8. LordMondando

I do actually agree they need deploy time though. I think that solves pretty much all of the 'problems' with them.
  9. Jaloro

This OP is an object lesson in how to discredit your opinion before you even start. Mines P2W? Words fail me, other than moron etc.
  10. Haterade

Wow, really? Using this logic, the entire idea of online is gaming is p2w. After all, those with better computers and internet connections will have better FPS and ping.

The biggest problem with AP mines is that the TR's are absolutely horrible while the other two are largely invisible to the naked eye when playing at "game speed."

You sir obviously do not understand the meaning of Pay 2 Win.
  12. COMMANDER K33N

I've definitely noticed mines have gotten a whole lot more popular recently. Are they OP or P2W? Nope. What needs to be added is the ability to spot mines, and perhaps even remove them from range without detonating them.
  13. PS2Freak

oh another, it killed me lets nerf everything thread. AP mines works as intented , nothing to nerf here.. ohh man. this QQ people...

  14. ScrapyardBob

It's called "IR/NV scope". Or just paying attention to where you place your feet.

Letting infiltrators/engineers remove mines without detonating them would be okay. Letting every single class do it would be too severe of a nerf. But at the same time, you need to fix the engineer class so that they can monitor where their deployed mines are at and whether they are still functional.
  15. SpecOps Delta

I have the ultimate solution for the OP:

Look not only into the sky for Light Assaults, look at the ground for mines. If you run to an objective don't run headless through the doorways - check for mines first.

I cannot understand why people are whining about everything. Maybe, and please do not take it too offensive, this is a L2P and not a P2W issue. But with some experience you will see the mines and you can destroy them. (not stepping on it - just shoot at it :p )
  16. JonboyX

QFT. And that's as an NC; definitely easier to see - although I seem to remember reading the blast radius is different (?)

I'm not sure that mines should be deployable indoors, seems a bit lame to me, but we did have surge ninja cloakers with boomers in PS1 so you kinda just take the rough with the smooth, and cert them yourself. Can't beat them, join them.
  17. COMMANDER K33N

Eh, sometimes it's not really viable to be constantly looking at the floor with your rifle blocking half of the screen. The IRNV scope is... actually pretty good, but it's not really that effective for anything besides spotting mines and CQC targets.

And yeah, it'd be nice for Engineers to be able to remove them. Perhaps even make it so Infiltrators can hack them, but that might be a slightly [very] OP ability.

    STOP NEFTING !

The IR/NV scope is a good thing to use. I use it.

But "paying attention to where you place your feet" is one of those things people spout off to sound all high-and-mighty and smart but isn't viable in-game. Mines are used most often as ambushing tools. Someone drops a mine and positions themselves within line of sight of the mine behind cover to kill stragglers. Staring at the ground trying to find something (which blends in well to the cluttered floor textures anyway) will just get you killed by the ambushing player.

Gazing at the floor to check for mines before entering a room will get you killed more than mines ever would. Outside of the claymores, no AP mines are really all that visible playing at "game speed." Sure you could stare at the ground every five seconds to see if there's a mine, but that will get you killed because you're simply moving too slowly and are unable to engage targets in the fast-paced, low ttk environment PS2 pushes.

    Anti-Infantry mines kill Infantry.

    Mind = blown
