If its mainly for gaming planetside 2, I suggest you get a mini ITX board and a decent PSU that can handle about 600W. Get youurself an I5-Haswell Processor. As for the gpu, get a Nvidia 600 or better. I personally dont put my pc in a case and leave it in the open so the components are able to be more cool by letting a lot of air-flow. I remove dust with a brush every 2-3 weeks. to reduce tendency for dust to block air flow. This build should give you about 20-40FPS in medium and should cost you about 400Pounds. I suggest you get the cheapest components. BUT POWER SUPPLY AND MOTHERBOARD should be of higher price because they are the most imponrtant piece in the PC

    AsRock Xtreme z77 $129
    I5 4670 3.4Ghz $189
    Corsaid Vengeance 8GB DDR3-2133 $109
    GeForce 660 $209
    I TB harddrive $60
    GOOD power supply $75
    CoolMaster Hyper T4: $40
    Case $90

    About $800

A better spec list than mine. Op, use this to create ur build.

This is pretty close to what I built. I did it last year so the processor is a bit better.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the AsRock motherboard. It's easy to get everything installed. You have to have a good sized case to fit the CoolMaster (or do like I did at first and just not put the side on your old one ;) )

My opinion - two most important things are the PSU and motherboard. A good case is good for cooling also making components last longer.
If I were building a PC now would get this http://www.asrock.com/mb/intel/z87 extreme6/
    and possibly this http://store.antec.com/Product/power_supply-high_current_gamer/hcg-750m/0-761345-23883-0.aspx
The motherboard has good onboard sound, overclocking options , good spacing for multiple graphcis cards (for later expansion maybe).
The PSU is a good one. If you cheap out on a PSU, it could fry components or your PC. That has happened to me.

AsRock motherboards are very good and PSU's by Antec are too. Although I prefer Cooler Master ;) Honestly, a PC without a case is better. I just love how it is more openly and more air flow can go through it although dust collates much faster

can you build me it on a website i cant be arsed i got work to do please
  12. ChampagneDragon

Sure, and I'll build it, deliver it, and hook it all up. Do you want me to install PS2 regular and test on that?

    $1000 easy to do, i5 4670K, a good Z87 motherboard (ASrock Z87 Extreme6 perhaps), minimum GTX760 or R9 280X, 16GB ram (1600MHz or higher). And don't cheap out on the power supply.

I prefer a good case and fan setup. Think wind tunnel as opposed to open fields. Not knocking your choice; to each his own. Sometimes cable management isnt practical and they just ruin any possibility of a good wind tunnel - not the case with my build though.

[IMG]I live in a rural area so its extra dusty out here. I couldnt imagine leaving everything out in the open. :(

I had the open case, but since there's a smoker in the house that is a BAD idea. If you go open case make sure you spend money on canned air. Dust is bad for the tiny connections in a PC.

I got a great Corsair case for $80. It has three built in fans and a nice cable management system (although I figured out that after I used it for my second build).

For the love of god, don't build a pc just for planetside, think about what you want it for and build accordingly. You arn't going to play thiis game for the next 5yrs and thats the time frame/liifespan of a new build you should be looking at when upgrading.
  18. Hank

I built one for Creative Suite 6, it just happens to play planetside2 very well

    MB: gigabyte Z87X-UD3H-CF
    CPU: i7 4770k
    Ram: Ripjaw 16gig 2400
    GPU: single GTX 760
    HD: Raptor 10k 500gig
    PS: power&cooling 650 watt

very consistent 60fps with occasional dips into the 50's. rarely, when in a huge biolab fight i get that cpu pop up by the fps, only lasts a couple seconds then recovers.

so how much? and at what settings high?

Go Intel and Nvidia if you play this game alot. I would choose between Gigabyte and Asus components. I have both, and think gigabyte is just topping Asus in quality.
