Patch Notes as I Read Them.

    Not all notes were commented on, just mostly VS stuff. My comments are obvious the ones in Mauve.

    Server Crashes

    All known server crashes fixed.
    Within 15 minutes of logging in last night, I crashed. It marks a new record. Well done, SOE, maybe if you release another patch to fix crashing, I won't be able to log in at all! Absolutely no crashing, gaurenteed!
    New Carbines
    The following Carbines have been added to fill existing holes in itemization.
    Because we feel that Infantry don't have enough stuff to play with. We know that MBTs only get 3 weapons, but who runs a tank nowadays? Infantry is the reason PS2 exist, and if tank drivers want to have variety, they can play WoT.
    NCAF-4A Bandit
    TR HC1 Cougar
    VS Zenith VX-5
    Straight Pull Bolt Attachments
    • New attachment have been added to bolt action sniper rifles that allow you to stay scoped while bolting the rifle. (Apparently a few of you wanted this released...)
    I don't recall any suggestion for vehicles by players going live unless the issue is so huge, SOE finnaly get off their rear end and nerf vehicles a little more for Infantry n00bs.
    Quality of Life and Balance
    • The TR LC2 Lynx carbine has been completely revamped
      • Very few weapons are able to touch the Lynx’s incredible rate of fire. Featuring a cyclic rate of 910 RPM, the LC2 Lynx tears through infantry at close to medium ranges.

      Lets give the carbine faster firing rate than the SMG! BRILLIANT! Oh wait, faction traits? Like no bullet drop and high accuracy? That's odd, I don't recall any weapons of the VS that could actually use it getting 'completely' revamped to include this trait.

    • Lifespan of AV MANA turret projectile has been reduced from 10 seconds to 4.75 seconds. This makes the maximum range of the MANA turret around 450 meters.
    Did SOE forget that the infantry render range is 300 meters? Or that even at 300 meters, the hit box is so tiny at that distance, it's nearly impossible to see anyways? Vehicle drivers have been complaining about this from day one, and SOE still won't give it the fix/REMOVAL it needs?


    • Both Engineer turret models have been slightly adjusted to have tighter collision.
    Because we think that the AV mana turret is far to easily destroyed at 450 meters (Oh wait, you can't see it past 300, can't you? Oh wells), were reducing this to make the turret less easily hit by those nasty OP tanks.
    • Zealot Overdrive Engine
      • ZOE max rank now lowers the MAXs resistance to small arms fire by 5% instead of 10%. All ranks: 9/8/7/6/5% reduction.
      • Comet direct damage while under the effects of ZOE increased from 347 and 375. Max damage range increased from 10 to 15 meters. Min damage range increased from 50 to 85 meters.
    Okay, okay, so maybe we made the ZOE a little less than useless. Now it is a little more than useless! There! All better!
    • Knife damage has been reduced from 625 to 500. The previous damage value was compensating for the old Nanoweave functionality where players could have up to 1250 health and is too high now that players cap out at 1000 health (not counting abilities).
    Here is an honest balance to show that, for infantry at least, we can in fact do our job.


    Vehicle Changes
    • All Vehicles Nanite Auto Repair
      • Additional ranks no longer reduce the delay
      • The delay is 12 seconds across all ranks (That is still going to feel like 10 minutes when you are under fire).
    No, we didn't buff the repair rate, and oh, this applies to tanks as well, because going in there and changing the values for ground vehicles because of an obvious issue for air is just... too... hard. Man, sifting through all these files! Most of them have cobwebs on them! We don't want to get our gold trim tuxes dirty.

    • All Vehicles Night Vision Optics
      • Night vision adjusted to have a longer range and a slightly brighter green.
    CAN THIS BE? A BUFF! HEY EVERYBODY SOE BUFFED VEHICLES!!! WOW!!!!!!
    • Magrider Magburner
      • Increased regeneration rate of lower ranks.
      • Seconds required to fully regenerate from 60/48/34/20 going down to 35/30/25/20.
    ANOTHER BUFF! Oh wait, for lower ranks. Nothing for upper ranks. I guess that that will have to wait.
    • Vanguard Shield
      • Amount blocked by shield reduced from 3000 to 2000.
      • Duration of shield has been normalized across all ranks to be 6 seconds (when it is not destroyed via damage)
    Because tactics are too hard for n00bs to comprehend, so we are nerfing the shield to allow them a better chance at destroying OP MBTs.
    • Prowler Anchored Mode
      • Projectile speed is now normalized at +30% across all ranks.

    Because cert investments are over-rated.

    • Harasser
      • Stock armor damage reduction increased from 37% to 39% (You probably wouldn't have noticed but once again NANITES!)
        • This mostly makes some sources of damage less spikey. (Note: both spikey and blunty damage will blow up your vehicle).
      ... What?


      • Turbo is now standard on all Harassers. (Now everyone can feel the need for speed!)
        • This frees up the utility slot for other options. (No you still cannot add hydraulics.)
        • The certification line still exists, but as a passive bonus
    No, we aren't giving MBTs their ES ability standard, because they are OP as it is. Giving them two abilities is just out of the question.


    Vehicle Weapon Tuning
    • M20 Basilisk
      • Basilisk is performing too well at long ranges.
        • Reduced minimum damage range from 130 to 100 meters (Sunderer and tank version only)
        • Projectile speed reduced from 600 meters per second to 550 (all versions)
      Let me guess, NS are having a gunpowder shortage? Oh, and another vehicle nerf, just in case the lovely infantry think we forgot about them!

    • C85 Canister
      • Still could use improvements in the anti-personnel and anti-light armor rolls.
      • Removed CoF penalty (pellet spread remains) (Yup we track pellet spread)
      • Downward elevation range increased from 17 degrees to 35, (25 to 35 degrees on Harassers) allowing the close range weapon to hit stuff at close range
      • Stock magazine size increased from 8 to 10
        • The following changes are intended to extend the range of 2 shot kills by a few meters
        • Headshot multiplier increased from 1.5 to 2
        • Legshot multiplier decreased from 0.9 to 0.95 (No seriously there is a legshot multiplier...).
      • Minimum damage range increased from 40 meters to 42 (30 to 31 on Harasser variant)
      • ESF resistance to the C85 canister lowered from 80% to 75%
      • Harasser resistance to the C85 canister lowered from 72% to 69%
    Gee, I wonder why nobody uses the Canister? Well, I think we can give this to the Prowler. Infantry are going to be steaming over this, so we have to appease them...

    OH YES! I NEARLY FORGOT!!!

    • Saron HRB
      • It is too effective as an anti-infantry weapon.
        • Blast damage reduced from 367 damage to 200 damage (334 to 200 for Harasser version)
        • This makes it require 3 direct hits to drop non infiltrators instead of 2. (Sorry Infiltrators. Maybe if you'd stop wrapping yourself in those weird flashy nanocloaks you'd live longer).
        • Inner blast damage radius increased from 0.5 meters to 1 meter


      This will make the infantry happier. The Saron was just to good, anyways, with that no-bullet drop and all. Seriously OP, if you ask me. Let's through in some humor for those infiltrators to make hit that minority group, to make them not feel left out. Lets see, a nerf here, a nerf there, there, that oughta do it! **** those forum whiners, they should get into infantry! Much more fun! Now with less explosions!

    • Enforcer ML85
      • It is too strong in the anti-tank category. The below changes should bring it closer in line with other weapons like the Halberd.
        • Magazine size reduced from 10 to 8
        • Reload speed increased from 3 seconds to 3.25 seconds
        • Ammo capacity decreased from 100 to 80
        • Ammo capacity per rank decreased from 10 to 8

    OOOHH NOOOOES! SOMETHING IS DOING IT'S JOB TOOOO WELL! We can't have that, so boom, we just dropped a nerf.

    Other weapons like the Halberd. Other weapons. So let me ask you a question, SOE. WHAT OTHER WEAPONS? The empire-non-specific weapon (the only one for MBTs) should not be the standard for other weapons. What's your angle here?


    • Lightning C75 Viper
      • The weapon is too effective in both anti-tank and anti-personnel. Both aspects are being toned down
        • Direct hit reduced from 400 to 345 damage
          • This makes it so all HEAT cannons kill faster than the C75 viper.
        • Blast damage reduced from 600 to 500 damage
          • This reduces the radius for two hit kills by 0.5 meters
          • Can no longer one hit kill infantry on a direct hit
    The all-round gun is too all-round. We need to nerf this bad boy back to the dark ages. What's that? BUFF the other cannons? YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR MIND!! Give me three hours HA on a biolab, right now. That's an order.


    • Prowler P2-120 HEAT
      • The double barrel is too effective against personnel; the following changes are intended to bring it more in line.
        • Blast damage reduced from 700 damage to 650 damage
        • Inner blast damage radius reduced from 1.5 meters to 1 meter
        • The above two changes reduce the effective two hit kill radius by 0.5 meters
    OOOOH NOOOOES! ANOTHER WEAPON WAY, WAY, WAAAY TO GOOD AT IT'S JOB!

    In line with what? Seriously?

    • Prowler P2-120 HE
      • Similar to the HEAT version, the damage is a bit too high, for the HE we are just adjusting the damage.
      • Blast damage reduced from 700 damage to 650 damage
    Wow, we have a whole slew of over-performing weapons against infantry. What were we thinking??? Where's my hammer?
    • Liberator L-24R Spur
      • CoF reduced from 0.75 degrees to 0.3 degrees.
    • Liberator Dual-75 Duster
      • Reduced maximum CoF from 8 degrees to 6 degrees.
    Wait, these are a terrible. Maybe a small buff is in order... maybe...
    • M40 Fury:
      • Increased ammo resupply rate
      • Flash variant increased from 8 to 16
      • Harasser variant increased from 8 to 24
      • Sunderer variant increased from 8 to 32
    To appease all of these potencially angry vehicle drivers, were going to throw this out there to prove we care about them to. (don't worry infantry, we love you more!)

    Bugs Fixed
    • Fixed missiles fired from the AV Mana turret not being visible to other players. (No more free stealth tech).
    (sorry, engies, but we had to do something!)

    This concludes my rant. I went over a lot more than I intended, but it's not my fault. I here to ridicule SOE for their extremely poor decision making in vehicle balancing by nerfing the vehicle rather than being brave, suck it up, and actually fixing the real issue.

    Well, at least you were forward about it being a rant... cause that's all I see.

    BTW: Want to murder infantry? Take AI guns.. PC + PPA will still dominate inf like it always has. I still need to buy the PPA actually, though what I really want is the ability to swap my tank loadouts.... then I'll really really want that PPA.

    "All known server crashes fixed" refers to the server, not you.

    Your operating system can still get in a slap fight with PS2.exe. The servers just aren't going to crap out at 2000 players anymore.

    Yeah, ground vehicles could use a good looking at. The viper was overnerfed and the MBT nerfs were silly at best. And then the secondary adjustments did basically nothing except make a few people mad and made a few weapons look a bit less cruddy. Honestly, I really have no idea what they are trying to do with ground vehicles. Nerfed versions of the Lib I guess :|

    Actually, I mostly play infantry now. With 800-950ms ping, usually when the VS are underpop. Let's see you do better with my head-first death-or-glory let-have-some-fun style.

    Furthermore, I die more often from flipping the mag from other idiot inconsiderate drivers/stupid stunts than anything else.

    I don't want to murder infantry. When I get in a Mag, I run stealth, FPC, Saron, Rival, because I am on the hunt for other vehicles, not because I want a higher K/D ratio by killing some meatbags. Trust me, if I wanted to spawn camp, I can join in with the rest of them. But i don't, because I couldn't car less about my K/D ratio. I think it should even be removed just so that the stupid ad hominum K/D ratio attacks would just disappear. I have all the weapons for the Mag unlocked except for the Haldberd/AA, so my range of weapons are not a question. I run the Mag to hunt. Hunt Vans. Hunt Burgers.

    tl;dr, I can't care less about infantry when in my Mag in this situation.


    I'm all except one of you are so blind as to not see my point. My point has absolutely, NOTHING to do with what killed me, what weak weapons I have, how strong infantry are in comparison, or even infantry vs vehicle interaction. I'm upset that SOE has continually short-shafted those who prefer Vehicle gameplay as well as Infantry. I thought that much was painfully obvious. Clearly, I was wrong. If you are still having trouble understanding what I'm saying, feel free to leave a comment. Otherwise, good day, you have no reason to be here.

    tl;dr, let's stop with the tl;drs. It doesn't mean anything other than putting words in other people's mouths and stating your obviously superior opinion.

    If if would only be true! I just got killed by an invisible Mana turret missile. Yes, I should have seen it coming, I looked in that direction but I didn't even see that the turret fired anything.

    What I understood from your post is that your reading comprehension skills could stand to improve.


    They said server crashes, not client crashes. We're talking about crashes where almost every player on the server is simultaneously kicked out of the game.

    In the original planetside, you couldn't use different vehicle weapons at all. You were stuck with whatever the default weapons were. Consider yourself lucky here. There's even an MBT update down the road that will probably get you some more toys to play with then. The infantry game can always be improved upon. TR lacked a reliable long range option in their carbine loadout, so the hole was filled. The other factions were given new carbines as well, for a number of reasons. Most class loadouts for each faction have a similar issue that will hopefully be addressed in future updates.

    What are you even responding to at this point? o_O

    I'm just going to stop trying to answer your concerns now and jump to the conclusion that you never play infantry. PS: Infantry die. A lot. Dying is not fun. Being literal cannon fodder is not fun. Give them a break. Maybe you should jump out of your K/D tractor once in a while. And contrary to popular belief, infantry are only a threat to you if you get too close to them. If you sit back 200 meters, you're untouchable in the face of everything but a dedicated area denial squad.

    Want to be a tank hunter? Fine, watch out for infantry then and don't let them engage you in superior numbers.

    Your ranting. Fair enough. You put the disclaimer on your post so you know what your doing. Go ahead and get it off your chest...

    But just because it makes life as a Tank Hunter tank harder, doesn't mean it's not good for the game though. If an AV tank can kill infantry with impunity and ease, then what's the point of the AI tank?

    The worse AV tanks are at AI means the more AI tanks there will be for you to counter.

    Good point. I might has well through in the towel and switch completely to infantry, rather than play mostly infantry and hope a good situation comes along where a Mag could be marginally useful in AV fights.

    Why? Because I care enough about vehicle gameplay to stand getting ridiculed the anti-tank crowd. I wasn't pro-VS, I was pro-Vehicle.

    Okay, I take back the server crash. I assumed that that meant the player's connection to the server and not eh server itself, as I have been crashed to desktop more times than I can remember and only once did the entire server crash.
