P2 is in the best shape it's ever been in, BUT....

    Planetside 2 is in the best shape it's ever been in, there's no denying that BUT I think one aspect of the game that is getting seriously old / is a real problem and that is random-instadeaths from vehicles when playing as infantry. Trying to play infantry in this game is just a random-roulette wheel of 'when do I next insta-die to a harasser / liberator / max / MBT cannon'.

    and don't give me that phoney 'L2P ' standard answer...

    Vehicle-zergs completely shut-down infantry based gameplay, and turrets and heavy assault weapons just aren't enough to stop an armoured column. I have farmed the spawn rooms from a tank too, and killing near-defenceless infantry is fun (for a while, anyway), but getting farmed by tanks/libs to the point you can't leave the spawn room isn't fun.

    When the balance response is "bring more of your own of the same unit", you know it's wrong. There needs to be a hard counter to tanks. (I could make a dozen suggestions). One sided fights don't make for good games.

    Don't spawn in a camped spawn room – that's true whether it's camped by tanks, libs, lolpod ESFs, heavy assaults or engineer turrets.

    A massive tank column should crush infantry, either pull vehicles yourself, use the specialist AV rockets, mines etc, or go around them. When I pull a tank I get killed ridiculously quickly by infantry with lock-on rockets, which already are the 'hard counter'; get a few mates to pull HA with you and you can scare (and damage) a whole tank column far more than is reasonable already.

    Counters for tanks that aren't tanks:

    Striker/Lancer/Phoenix
    Ground Lock On Launcher
    Annihilator
    Decimator
    AV Mana Turret
    Tank Mine
    Harasser
    C4
    ESF
    Liberator

    I don't see a problem.

    Stop playing Solo and get a proper outfit.
    I've never met a Zerg, tank column or air raid that couldn't be dealt with by some decent teamplay.

    Nerfing vehicle zergs would make them laughably useless.

    Vehicle vs Vehicle balance needs looking at, but I'm of the mindset of toughening up vehicles vs Infantry and reducing their numbers, NOT improving infantry against vehicles as they're plenty weak to most infantry as it is.

    But a better solution of Infantry vs Vehicles is smarter spawn room locations. The spawn room locations are horrid. They force you to walk in front of a vehicle in many cases to get to a defense point. Or where tunnels are involved, a nice easy camped tunnel exit.

    Vehicles need such massive buffs... There's -absolutely no point- in their existence at the moment compared to just hunkering down with 10 second respawn times as infantry, taking no risk whatsoever, and having comparable damage output, not to mention invincibility from 300-1000m, whilst retaining all damage dealing ability.

    Vehicles are fine right now, maybe even a little underpowered, I used to be a tanker, before I switched to infantry after deciding it was more OP.

    In truth the crux here are
    It's just that armored vehicles best suit the needs of a zerg, given its reckless nature.

    you do realise that this game is more inantry orientated than vehicle orientated, right? do you have any idea how many how many tools that infantry have at their disposal to eliminate vehicles?

    yes, you do have to L2P. dont run in front of vehicles thinking you can take them down with your carbine.

    Tanks and sundies are bit weak right now. The problem with them locking infantry in their spawn is due to base design and not the vehicles. Too many bases have their exits exposed to the open where almost any vehicle can make that exit unusable by just spamming explosives at it.

    That reminded me of ET Quake Wars or what it was called. You could counter every single thing with Infantry, for one by blowing up tires. And then by the sheer Dmg vehicles would take by ANYTHING. That was terrible, and it's a pity- QW was quite promising and had very interesting elements for when it was released.

    The #1 problem I see with infantry being farmed by vehicles: The infantry with the means to engage said vehicles, more often than not, don't. Seriously, I know the rocket launcher can one shot infantry... that's not what it's there for. I equip a UBGL on my medic specifically so I can do something to a tank even if arguably the redonkulously short distance of those darn things practically begs the question "why not just run up and use C4?" (Because it's a 97.3% chance of being a one way trip and I'm a f***ing medic?) Side note: demolish the AI capability, but drastically reduce the drop of the UBGL grenade in return please: my arm shouldn't be hurling footballs further than a launcher can a baseball.

    Also, the UB shotty needs at least two shots per load.

    Heavy assaults however often seem completely oblivious to the fact there is a tank firing at them at all. All they know is there are a bazillion irritating explosions going off around them making it hard to aim their spray-and-pray noob-cannons, until a round actually kills them, then they get irritated about the tank spam and demand people take care of it.

    Aggressive play is really hard to come by apparently.

    Vehicle zergs are easy meat for infantry. One well placed AMS will ruin their day.

    I've never laughed so hard. Vehicles are fine. There couldn't be more counters to them both from other vehicles & numerous infantry based anti armour weapons. If you find yourself stuck in a spawn room camped by tanks. You've ****** up.
